It's such a disconcerting photo, theres a picture of a bloke who looks like tikay if he had decided to become the deputy head master of a scondry school in bromley.

Then theres the guy in the backround who's talking to a girl thats facing him and a girl that's got her back to him, now she'd got an arse that deserves a "rate my arse thread" of it's own and she's literally sticking it in his face and seen as how it's a real trendy gaff and the birds are all fit i'm guessing the bird to whom he's talking has got a bit of a chest on her yet despite these two distractions he appears to be maintaining eye contact with her, like he actually cares what she's banging on about(shopping or some shit i'm guessing)

The theres our man Bob(i'm calling him bob) clearly tarmacs drives for a living but when he got called out to do the estimate he knew what kind of a gaff it was and didnt want to come round with his arse hanging out of his jeans(not untill he's got a bit of the deposit money in his hand anyhow) look in the mans eyes and tell me you cant see him saying "ive got some gear left over from another job, i'll do you it cheap"!!

I had to look twice at one reply, I thoiught it was the answer, but it was a trick of the eye.

Dawn - DISQUALIFIED. I asked what his job was, not where he worked. Pay attention.

First clue will be this afternoon.

Thank you for the answers - you well got the idea.

Some wonderful answers, I've lol'd all day, thank you.

There are, unsurprisingly, NO correct answers so far, though one answer was in exactly the right area.

So, a clue.

Well, as Tighty seemed to know, the location was what he described as "Ding's Colonic Clinic, in Milton Keynes".

In fact, it's more of a "well-being" Clinic, an assemblage of individual health & beauty clinics, all offering different services, products, or processes, designed to make folks feel & look better. A truly scary place, & if Ding grants me permission to Upload, I have some interesting 'photos of what goes on there. No Colonic pics, you'll be delighted to hear. And see.

The occasion was a sort of "Open Day", with champers & sweetmeats, attended by a whole gathering of "beautiful people" who are evidently into that sort of thing.

Our be-gloved man was a guest, & it could be said he works in "the industry" - health & beauty, shall we say, more "beauty" than health in his case.

A most odd job, one I've never heard of before.

The OED "b" definition says a merkin is a "counterfeit hair for women's privy parts," and another dictionary calls it a "pubic hair wig."

I've heard of niche markets, but this is ridiculous.

Oh my goodness....

This thread reminds me of something one of my exs used to say. The journey is much better than arriving. She was referring to car journeys, of course, or I assume she was.

Thanks go to Laxie, who I rung this morning, to help me locate that "Father of the Bride" clip. The clip she put up of "Fronk" EXACTLY reminds me of the deportment & demeanor of our man.

"You need a wodding cak".

Kev's reply was wicked, as was the ying & yang, but I've learned something. Len Ganley did not referee Football. There's a thing.

Earlier, gatso, I think, mentioned a "fluffer".

In Racehorse Breeding, they used to refer to a mare used to "excite" (but not mate with) a Sire, prior to the Sire covering a broodmare, as a "fluffer". As fml jobs go, that's some fml job.

For a small sum of money - less than £200 I believe - this lady will input your hand vibes into her sophisticated software programme, & it compares your electrical resistance to 15 zillion "normal" people, & it can tell you anything & everything about your bodily health. For instance, if you've got a broken leg, or have cut yourself shaving. It works on men, too.

13 year old said, "Hannibal" - he looks a bit freaky.
11 year old said, "Hairdresser" - it's obvious mom.

Were people actually paying as they went that night or was it sort of a comp gig?

Oh no, it was an "Open Day", & was free to enter, though I expect one had to pay for specific "treatments".

Did you know you could have eyebrow extensions, in the manner of hair extensions? You lay down, & a woman grafts on individual eyebrow extensions, one hair at a time? You can have one eye done at a certain price, but it works out cheaper to have both done. People actually think eyebrows are visully important! I was with a young lady for 7 years, (going back a while now) & never even knew what colour her eyes were! Mind you, she dumped me when she realised that. She had the most splendidly constructed breast formation though, which I had noticed, but she never took that into consideration when I used it in mitigation.

The man laying on the bed was having his face stretched. It removes wrinkles & ageing, & everyone who appears on TV has it done, so I'm told. Not everyone, be assured, my face is as Nature intended, with a possible built-in misread.

Rumour has it that Carol Vordemann had this face-stretching treatment so often that you could pitch a tent in either nostril, though I suspect there's some embellishment in that.

It was the most fascinating exercise in people-watching. It's easy to mock & sneer & be cynical, but imagine how they view people who effectively set fire to pound notes, as poker players routinely do.

Each to their own, eh?

Now, shall I have my eyebrows lengthened?

Yes he is....sigh.....and I explained it to him more than once....

I have to say though he did very well bearing in mind Tikay was completely out of his comfort zone at this event! Although when he thought we had killed a client and we were laying him out, when in fact he was just having a facial it was a tad embarrasing....but I guess it was just payback for my Blonde posts!

In New York, I knew people who made a living just being invited to parties and night clubs.  They weren't actors.  Just fun people who helped fill a room...and got paid for being there.

do they also have "interesting" people paid to attend parties just to help clear the room at the end of the night?

Yes.  They're called 'bouncers'.   rotflmfao

I thought it would be easier for club owners to employ an eccentric character who is skilled in clearing rooms  to appear at the end of the night and ask questions about sausages save having to throw people out

I sometimes get asked to sing karaoke at the end of the night after last orders - they don't pay me though.

Hair model/hairdressers model is the same thing. He models the haircut that he has been given. This guy had travelled from Leeds with the hairdresser just to stand around and model the hair cut and be seen at the party. Imo wasted journey!

Surely there can't be much work being a haircut model, unless you let your hair grow long and then carefully schedule jobs modelling haircuts which are only slightly shorter than the one before.

Do they charge more for modelling short haircuts, on the basis it'll put them out of work for a while?

I would have asked him but I swear he didn't speak the entire time he was there. He just kept walking from one ide of the room to the other, posing as if on a catwalk and then walking away again having displayed his haircut from all sides. One of the most bizarre things I have ever seen.

EXACTLY my line of thought Andrew.

I'm also thinking that Mr Gloves would say, "hmm, I had my haircut today, so that'll be, what, 6 weeks before my next job" sorta thing.

And I bet he does not just have it cut, he must have a cut & blow, surely.

Fascinating, to see how peeps earn a living in different ways.
