If so, probably recalculated your tax bill. Either that or their software has had a spasm and they will want it back! :)Ty Mr tax man After the year we've all had

Title: Re: Free money?? Post by: Claw75 on December 15, 2008, 02:21:01 PM make sure that you're certain you've not made any errors on your form. The Revenue work on a 'process now, check later' system. They will work out your tax initially based on the information you've provided, and refund any overpayment due on those figures, but have a fairly long time span to actually check the information on the forms. If when they check the information they find any anomolies, they are within their rights to reclaim the repaid 'overpayment' if it turns out it was actually due.

Post by: Claw75 on December 15, 2008, 07:17:43 PM if they did agree to paying back in instalments it would be a lot more than a fiver a week and you'd be charged interest - chances are the money is due to you anyway, but I think I'd want to be doubly sure before spending it
Title: Re: Free money?? Post by: Graham C on December 15, 2008, 07:24:05 PM From my experience in dealing with the tax man, they don't let you pay in installments. I guess them overpaying you it may be different but when it's normal tax you owe, you get zero sympathy, they want the money and if you don't pay, they charge interest.
Personally, I'd make sure it was correct first. Title: Re: Free money?? Post by: turny on December 15, 2008, 08:18:39 PM in my experiences in the past the inland revenue do not charge you interest on over payments. they would also take into account your financial situation when negotiating payback instalments,
this is all probably immaterial anyway its probably money that belongs to you so stop worrying mate and enjoy Title: Re: Free money?? If they didn't it would leave the system open to abuse by people submitting false information on their returns in order to get what would in effect be an interest-free loan Title: Re: Free money??
