Title: Super League 2009 Post by: kinboshi on January 13, 2009, 12:22:54 PM New season is nearly upon us. Is it going to be another year of St Helens bottling it at the final hurdle after dominating for the majority of the season? Will Leeds keep their title? Will Wigan be a better side without Barrett? Will anyone else throw their name's into the hat for the title.
Quite a few comings and goings in the transfer window. My favourite is Piggy, who's signed for Wigan. Him and Cunningham could talk about pies for quite a while I'd imagine. I'm looking forward to the chants from the opposition towards him - but I guess he's used to them by now! Yeah i don't like Rugby union you could say.
Not been following the off season going ons but if not too much has changed it will be Leeds or St Helens and then the rest. Title: Re: Super League 2009 Post by: Graham C on January 13, 2009, 12:39:03 PM Up the Rhinos
Actually I know very little about RL so I'm going to watch quite a bit this season hopefully. Title: Re: Super League 2009 Post by: Horneris on January 13, 2009, 02:03:44 PM Leeds, Leeds, Leeds
Title: Re: Super League 2009 Post by: amcgrath1uk on January 13, 2009, 02:10:05 PM just hoping Salford put in a semi decent performance this season..
Title: Re: Super League 2009 Post by: Acidmouse on January 13, 2009, 02:20:18 PM Super league champions for the 3rd year running please! Well its the only sport Leeds has a decent team in, although we played second fiddle to the saints to much of last season I think we can only improve.
Our youth academy is the best in the country around 15-16 of the squad are home grown. Title: Re: Super League 2009 Post by: CrestOfaWave on January 20, 2009, 04:32:23 PM Thanks Kin - found the thread.
Still smiling after the Kiwi's beat the Ockers in the World Cup. Just wish I had put a couple of bob on but thought it dead money lol. As for the super league will be cheering on Saints as its the one side the whole family supports and they play great attacking rugby when on song. Would be good to see Warrington break into the top 3 just to mix it up a bit. This year should see quite a few rookies break through into the league. It amazes me how little money flows into the game compared to Football and Union when the entertainment value is generally better than most fare served up in the other codes. I am up for meeting up before a game this season - Wigan not too far for me, Saints and Warrington closer. Will keep an eye on this board. Title: Re: Super League 2009 Post by: kinboshi on January 20, 2009, 04:37:11 PM We'll definitely have to organise a get together at a game or two.
Really looking forward to the season. I'd much rather watch an average game of RL than an average game of football or RU. Title: Re: Super League 2009 Post by: DUNK619 on January 20, 2009, 05:37:11 PM as long as wigan dont win ill be happy

Wigan SHOULD get off to a flying start against a decimated Wakefield. Should be a 50-0 win at least, so watch us lose it 12-13. You can sponsor me for my run via the link in my sig though. Oh, you meant Stevie G! Yes, a big loss - would be to any club. We coped without him earlier in the season, so the other players will have to step up to the plate and show that we don't just depend on Stevie. Anyway, back to the rugby. What have stains been up to during the off-season? Any good signings? Title: Re: Super League 2009 Post by: Acidmouse on February 06, 2009, 02:19:40 PM Leeds tonight vs some welsh team.
Leeds have about 8-9 out injured? i mean already?!? Title: Re: Super League 2009 Post by: kinboshi on February 06, 2009, 02:55:53 PM Leeds tonight vs some welsh team. Leeds have about 8-9 out injured? i mean already?!? You're bringing quite a few academy players through, and you have a strong enough squad. Better to have the injuries now than at the end of the season though. Title: Re: Super League 2009 Post by: Acidmouse on February 08, 2009, 09:34:32 PM Easy win for Leeds, second gear.
Wakey got a nice victory away to Wigan :) Title: Re: Super League 2009 Post by: kinboshi on February 09, 2009, 10:33:24 AM Was really looking forward to this season, but again it looks like Nobby is having problems. I think he'll have to go unfortunately.

Dont think they'll sack either just yet. Title: Re: Super League 2009 Post by: Acidmouse on February 22, 2009, 07:20:58 PM Watching the cas vs wigan game I was suprised how many home grown young players cas had and played well.
The weekly league show on sky sports pointed out that Wigan needed to bring more through the ranks instead of getting quick fix oversea's players that will bugger off after a year or two. Title: Re: Super League 2009 Post by: kinboshi on February 22, 2009, 07:29:33 PM Watching the cas vs wigan game I was suprised how many home grown young players cas had and played well. We sell all our young players on. Robinson, Brown, Briscoe, Wild, Aspinwall, etc. Instead we buy second-rate Aussies. I'm going to watch the game next week at the Quins. I hope that Noble isn't the coach by then, and I can't see us winning. So I'm looking forward to it... Title: Re: Super League 2009 Post by: kinboshi on February 23, 2009, 12:43:23 PM Apparently Ainscough was outstanding on his Superleague debut for Wigan. Why Noble hasn't played him before is a mystery, as he's always shone in the reserves and academy teams. When Phelps is fit, Ainscough will probably be left out of the side again.

Title: Re: Super League 2009 Post by: CrestOfaWave on May 05, 2009, 03:09:16 PM My Mother in Law went - we didn't let our 2 boys go as it was a fair trek.
Saints were poor from what I can tell but at least you enjoyed the day. I knew this would be bumped ;-) |
