Title: Are you In-Poker? Post by: tikay on January 22, 2009, 07:06:23 PM If so, there's a whizzo new Poker Magazine Show, the second pilot of which airs at 8.30pm tonight on Channel 865.
There's still some tweaking to do with the tone & pace, & some severe tweaking to the pundit, but we are nearly there & the next Edition wiill be pretty spiffing. For now, marvel in Compo's truly horrific fashion sense, in a suit you'd rather not be seen dead in. This Edition covers the Brighton GUKPT Final, interviews with all the Finalists, & some other stuff. Also, an Andy (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=469) Black (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=469) piece, which was actually quite good I thought, and a nice interview with Jonathan Raab, about his baby. And Pre-Final, every Finalist was interviewed, & told us how he planned the Final to pan out. Mark their words, there was some jaw-droppers in there..... Feedback welcome, on everything, except the aged pundit, who, as they may say of a poorly performing racehorse, "has improvement in him, will perform better next time". Groan. Seriously, take a look, 8.30 tonight, Channel 865. Watch it whilst you play the blonde League, please. There, hats juggled, everyone happy. I'm off out, in case I get tempted to watch. PS - I will accept ofers from £50 up for the Tie I wore. Compo's Suit is on special offer at the PoundShop, BOGOF. Title: Re: Are you In-Poker? You may have a point, he does garner a lot of recognition for the GUKPT, but I think you read too much into this particular post. I'm sure it wasn't meant how it may have sounded. Title: Re: Are you In-Poker? Post by: AlrightJack on January 23, 2009, 05:18:19 PM I may be the public face/spokesman of the GUKPT, but I am not out to hog the limelight and I have always made a point of saying that the success of the GUKPT is not just down to me. Here is a link to a video on the thenutz.tv that I did at Brighton and as you will see I make a point of saying that everyone involved with the running of the tour deserves recognition as well. I may have received the Staff Person gong at the European Poker Awards, but I accepted it on behalf of everyone I work with.

You are the guy with his head above the parapet. When it goes well, you are the hero, when it goes wrong, you get the stones thrown at you. It was always so. I see no problem in acknowledging your efforts, & by default, I'm acknowledging the efforts of the entire Team. You all did good. End of. Title: Re: Are you In-Poker? Post by: DaveShoelace on January 23, 2009, 05:35:21 PM I think its just the nature of awards ceremonies that individuals get the gongs, that the public face of a team effort have their names etched on the trophies. Everytime I've seen Jon he is always saying 'we' instead of 'me' with regards to the GUKPT, always praising every facet of the tour from dealers to TDs to players and ALWAYS defending the people he works with.
Loved the show btw, please say there will be more. Did anyone notice Tikay end his segment with Nick Holbrook by saying "yo!" for no particular reason? Title: Re: Are you In-Poker? Next Episode I'm gonna engage with the old folks. "I say old chap", sorta thing. Multi-dimensional stuff. I'm very hopeful we can refine it into a great Show over the coming months. Post by: phatomch on January 23, 2009, 06:07:02 PM My post may of come across wrong, I don't begrudge Jon any of the limelight or his well earned award or imply that he tries to hog the limelight. just that the td's and russell i know put in 100 hr+ weeks when these fessies are on and the only mention they generly get are when we get a norkage shot of dena or a ruling is made people dont agree with. I havn't worked for Grosvenor for over a year and I have more reason to hate them than most people out there but the staff work very hard and i would like to see that appreciated more.

I havn't worked for Grosvenor for over a year and I have more reason to hate them than most people out there but the staff work very hard and i would like to see that appreciated more. In a previous life, I repeatedly set up & recorded interviews on Poker 425 & Poker Week with the TD's, & Dealers, & I would imagine that In-Poker will do the same. And I large up Grosvenor left right & centre, & have done for years. I really don't know what else to say. A big up to Grosvenor, or the GUKPT, is a big up to all involved. Sadly, as to norkage shots, they are a bit non-pc, but if you want to stare at me & mentally undress me, I will not take offence. It happens a lot, you know. Title: Re: Are you In-Poker? The following weekend we are at the Walsall APAT, then, I think, The Broadway, followed by the Walsall GUKPT. I don't think that was Dana on the Banjo, though she is very good. Having "commercial" music on a TV Series is a very complex thing, with royalties & stuff. It was probably some "in-house" stuff. There will be some subtle changes in future Editions. We've watched it, pulled it to pieces, & hopefully we can make it better. Compo's Suit, for example. Less (attempted) overt comedy, more subtle stuff next time. I thought the Editing & pace, were excellent. Some other changes, too, to sharpen it up. Oh, & I will revert to normal-speak. Yo. Title: Re: Are you In-Poker? Yes Laz, as Claire notes, we are at Gala Maybury, on Saturday. Maybury is just outside Edinburgh - that's the posh part of Scotlland, on the right hand-side. Cobbled streets, Royal Mile, Castle on a hill which nobody in their right mind would consider worth climbing, never mind defending. Holyrood House - HM The Queen owns that. Statue of a dog. Marvellous Hotel, where a Cellist serenades you while afternoon tea is consumed. (The Balmoral). A bizarrely constructed but rather quaint Railway Station, Waverley. There, a potted tour of Edinburgh, Scotland's football capital. You should visit, you'd enjoy it. Title: Re: Are you In-Poker? I'll settle for one bob and bragging rights that I got one over the old skool. ;D You lose. Yesterday, in the interests of improving the Show Format & style, we ran through the entire tape, to "pick it to pieces" as it were. Frame by frame. I took considerable interest in the disputed section, as did others. Nothing to see, hear, or report. You owe me one bob. I intend to collect. Things must be bad if you are that desperate for a bob you have to lie about it ......... Title: Re: Are you In-Poker? Post by: tikay on January 27, 2009, 09:38:10 PM Liked the show Tikay & Compo but its virtually the same as Poker Week ( which I also liked ) so was the other show a non sky show?? Yes - and Tikay didn't say blowjob on the other show. Personally I think it was a prop bet. If you watch it again its the bit just before he hands Jonathan the trophy. Title: Re: Are you In-Poker? Post by: Dingdell on January 27, 2009, 10:27:03 PM is 'bob' shorthand? yes - for 5p in new money. Tikay pm'd me and admitted he said "Grosvenor bloke jobbie" which I think is a get out plea. As if Tikay wouldn't use the Queens English.....innit? Title: Re: Are you In-Poker? Post by: lazaroonie on January 27, 2009, 10:28:35 PM I really enjoyed the show, thanks for the HU Tikay. Was that Dana playing the banjo in the soundtrack? It was good to see so many Blondes on there too. Glad you enjoyed it Mad. The next edition is from, wait for it.......Edinburgh! Next weekend. why edinburgh, whats happening there next weekend ? You should visit, you'd enjoy it. no need to visit it now - you have told me all i need to know. in fact, there used to be a good reason to visit - one of the very best curry houses in britain. but that burnt down just before christmas, so no reason to go back. enjoy your stay. if you are looking for somewhere decent to stay, may I recommend glasgow. Title: Re: Are you In-Poker? Post by: tikay on January 27, 2009, 10:35:26 PM is 'bob' shorthand? It's slang for "shilling". (5p). Title: Re: Are you In-Poker? The views from the top of the tower are good in anycase (it's on the road up to the castle) but the camera obscura is like the original eye in the sky. It beams pictures from the city through lenses into the middle of the room. A sort of Victorian security camera. A bit geeky but interesting which is why I thought you might like it. My last recommendation for a visit resulted in a grinding bike, looking forward to whatever this starts! Title: Re: Are you In-Poker?
