Recommend this in Edinburgh  www.camera-obscura.co.uk  the sort of thing you would like Tikay.

Thanks Trace, I'm keen to vist that. They have one (Camera-Obscura) in Bristol, right next to Brunel's Clifton Suspension Bridge, on the hill above it. (With a Tea-Room underneath it!).

I really don't know what a camera-obscura is, or does, tbh. Sounds interesting though.

It's one of those peeps that walk in front of you while you're making a pirate movie.

is 'bob' shorthand?

It used to be shorthand for an amount of money that would buy you two bus rides, a frame of snooker, and a bag of chips.

When I was a Boy Scout (St Gabriel's Church, Peewit Troop), we used to have an Annual Bob-a-job week. Pay a Bob, do any job. Some bugger made me mow a complete field with a hand-mower.

The views from the top of the tower are good in anycase (it's on the road up to the castle) but the camera obscura is like the original eye in the sky. It beams pictures from the city through lenses into the middle of the room. A sort of Victorian security camera. A bit geeky but interesting which is why I thought you might like it.

My last recommendation for a visit resulted in a grinding bike, looking forward to whatever this starts!

I didn't see the penny that's almost completely hidden by another.

And well I remember that, & the story which followed it - that Museum in Luton you told me about, I took Tom, & he discovered that Grinding Bike.

I shall try & take Compo up to the Edinburgh Camera Obscurer. Who knows what will follow that?

look again, I am assuming both top coins are halfpennies. (there are two pennies hiding away)

This is getting sadder by the post.
