Title: Re: betting on a footballer to represent his country Post by: gatso on February 19, 2009, 05:39:13 PM do all bookies take these sorts of bets? how would I get odds for them? like an unknown kid? not complete unknowns. thinking about young pros already playing at club level but currently nowhere near international call ups Title: Re: betting on a footballer to represent his country Post by: GreekStein on February 19, 2009, 05:41:35 PM Chris Kirkland's old man had a £100 bet on at 100-1 that one day his son would play for England.
When his son got that cap, just a year or two into his £40,000 a week club contract, his dad must have been overwhelmed to pick up the life changing £10k from the bookies. Obv still nice Title: Re: betting on a footballer to represent his country Post by: bolt pp on February 19, 2009, 05:49:04 PM do all bookies take these sorts of bets? how would I get odds for them? like an unknown kid? not complete unknowns. thinking about young pros already playing at club level but currently nowhere near international call ups it's probs not the greatest market but if you ask them they'll come up with a price. even for an unknown 9-year old i cant see them giving you a huge price, something silly i was thinking like 100/1 which for some random youngster is just ridic. for what you're looking for though i expect them to come up with something just as silly Title: Re: betting on a footballer to represent his country Post by: gatso on February 19, 2009, 05:52:28 PM so no specific booky then?
I like the kirkland story although it saddened me a bit as up until then I'd been blissfully unaware that he'd ever played for england. how on earth did that happen? Title: Re: betting on a footballer to represent his country Post by: AndrewT on February 19, 2009, 05:55:46 PM You could try any bookie though Hills have the most established Specials compilers (as Graham Sharpe likes getting in the papers and on the telly).
You can get a bookie to give you odds on anything - just go in and ask and they'll ring up head office. Whether they'll give you a decent price, or let you have more than a tenner on it is another matter... I'll post my tip on boldie's forum if it's a 9-year old it's got more chance of happening before boldie posts a winner Title: Re: betting on a footballer to represent his country Post by: TheChipPrince on February 19, 2009, 06:09:02 PM Didn't TightEnd have a similar bet? Yes on Joe Hart, not sure how much... It was when he was Shrewsbury's no.1 at 18/19, so if its a 14/15 I would expect a pretty decent price... Title: Re: betting on a footballer to represent his country Post by: ACE2M on February 19, 2009, 09:07:41 PM just ring up or email hills or bet365, they will get down the details and let you know.
