Title: Rate my Aussie Post by: thetank on March 23, 2009, 01:46:15 PM My girlfriend is Australian, she said this at the weekend...
"My parents are upset at the moment because the kangaroo knocked over the water tank" As any attentive boyfriend would have done, I of course pulled her up on her use of the definite article, 'the kangaroo' and suggested she should have used the indefinite article instead 'a kangaroo.' Turns out she's right enough though. Her parents have a pet kangaroo! On a scale of 1/10, how Aussie is that? Title: Re: Rate my Aussie Post by: AndrewT on March 23, 2009, 01:50:22 PM Blatant 'I'm going out with Kylie Minogue' brag post IMO.
Title: Re: Rate my Aussie Post by: thetank on March 23, 2009, 01:51:52 PM pfft, I would have no time for Kylie, she can't even play the didgeridoo.

That's Frankfurt...not bleedin' Dusseldorf! Title: Re: Rate my Aussie Post by: EvilPie on March 24, 2009, 01:52:09 PM I'd only rate it as a 5 unfortunately.
Looks to me like they're trying too hard to be Aussie by having a pet Kangaroo. This leads me to suspect they may have just moved there in their 20's and are trying to fit in. Bit like when Scottish folk move to England and stop wearing their kilts. Title: Re: Rate my Aussie Post by: thetank on March 25, 2009, 11:53:01 PM We need more info though, what kind of kangaroo & where did they get it? Asked about for you. Apparently it's a small grey wallaby. It's not so much a pet as a wild animal that grazes on the nearby golfcourse and swings by to visit every night coz they feed it. Won't argue, you may have a fair point because they call it Skippy. There's small grey wallabies living wild in Scotland - you sure her folks don't live near Loch Lomond? http://www.loch-lomond.net/islands/inchconnachan.html (http://www.loch-lomond.net/islands/inchconnachan.html) Title: Re: Rate my Aussie Post by: thetank on March 26, 2009, 03:17:46 PM Brought over by some of Tighty's 10/10ers imo
