My girlfriend is Australian, she said this at the weekend...

"My parents are upset at the moment because the kangaroo knocked over the water tank"

As any attentive boyfriend would have done, I of course pulled her up on her use of the definite article, 'the kangaroo' and suggested she should have used the indefinite article instead 'a kangaroo.'

Turns out she's right enough though. Her parents have a pet kangaroo!
On a scale of 1/10, how Aussie is that?
