Title: Folding JJ Post by: R8APK on September 16, 2009, 02:19:07 PM Live MTT
£500 buy in 25 Runners (15k each = 370kish chips in play) 6 Left 6th £500, 5th £1000, 4th 1500........1st £5k 1500/3000, 300 ante, half way through 45 min clock My stack, 100k Villian 1, stack of 28k Villian 2, stack 130k Villian 1 UTG, Villian 2 Cut off, Me on button Villian 1, loose image, well known to push with any two, villian 2, respected player, have seen isolate raise before, my image tight, but have got active during last level UTG pushes, Villian 2 pushes, I have JJ. Should I fold or call? My thinking: UTG range is very wide, any ace or small pair, at worse(for me) kq. Villian 2 push cries out of isolating with maybe TT,JJ, AK or AQ, maybe QQ, but not likely AA or KK. Am confident I'm ahead of UTG, so if both UTG & I get knocked out, I'm guaranteed £1k (I qualified for £40). If Villian has big ace, UTG could also have one of his outs. In any event I could be racing with a chance to win over 2/3 of chips in play. Also blinds are getting very big compared to chips in play. But could be up against 3 overcards or overpair. Also have blinds behind to act. Obviously no fold equity either. Decided to fold. UTG 88, Villian 2 AK........JJ would have scooped the lot(but thats not the point.......was i right to fold?). Cheers Title: Re: Folding JJ Post by: GreekStein on September 16, 2009, 02:38:48 PM Pretty horrible spot. I fold too.
Title: Re: Folding JJ Post by: boldie on September 16, 2009, 02:59:24 PM meh,
It's a pretty nasty spot maybe but I'll take it... If Villain2 (the only one you're worried about really) could have QQ as the hand that beats you and has plenty hands you are beating (which is the range you are putting him on Quote Villian 2 push cries out of isolating with maybe TT,JJ, AK or AQ, maybe QQ, but not likely AA or KK. ), surely this is a call?Title: Re: Folding JJ Post by: R8APK on September 16, 2009, 03:44:03 PM still not sure.....
only have 300 invested in pot, no fold equity, 2 players behind(albeit unlikely to have anything) and most likely to be racing.......thought i'd find better spots.......... Title: Re: Folding JJ Post by: boldie on September 16, 2009, 04:37:17 PM I don't know...scoop the lot and have 300k'ish and go on to win the thing for 5k. Worst case scenario you get done in this pot...Shortie wins it and Villain2 knocks you out gets you £500..but seeing that you reckon you're ahead of the shortie and almost certain (80%) that you're ahead of villain2, I don't think this is a spot I'd pass up.
Any shrewdies about for this one?..interested in other people's opinions (as I could of course be horribly wrong) Title: Re: Folding JJ Post by: outragous76 on September 16, 2009, 05:09:25 PM This for me is a ladder or win question. And jj is right on the border, as in, if you have qq you snap and tt you are sick in your mouth. Firstly, you say there are possibly 3 overs? You can ignore Utg in this hand. You are playing for the side pot. Reality is you prob have him crushed to a max of 30% and prob 20%. So turning to the c\o. If you believe you can eliminate AA and KK from his range, this is a call. Have you seen him flat aa as a induce trap, and does he think that you are capable of a re shove squeeze? As this is a marginal spot for you then we need to turn to the money. Lets assume that we know he has ak, are you prepared to flip? Knowing loosing you get 500, winning you get 5k. As this spot is marginal for you, that is the only question you need to answer. Given the above, i snap call. However, you could easily fold and try to find better spots and guarantee yourself a bit more money and maybe the win. I call.

Title: Re: Folding JJ Post by: Royal Flush on September 16, 2009, 08:58:38 PM Quietly raise 1 hand in the air and then push your chips in. Great shot to win the comp with what should be a big edge.
Title: Re: Folding JJ Post by: AlexMartin on September 17, 2009, 03:30:55 AM ugly spot, fold, ur praying to dear god villain 2 has 99/1010 as he prolly understand the risk reward at this stage and if you call u prolly have to dodge 1/2 the deck.

You don't have to dodge half the deck though..just whatever Villain2 holds. |
