Title: Staking for PLO cash on blonde - Part II ($0.50/1)
Post by: GreekStein on October 21, 2009, 11:36:49 PM
Hi all,

My previous staking request has all the details of my new proposal in it and many people reading this will be familiar already. For those who aren't, it's here http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=43585.0.

The only difference is I'm asking for 80 buy ins at $0.5/1 whereas I used 60 at $0.25/0.50.

Total is $8k.

My live backer wants $3k's worth so that leaves $5k up for grabs. I'll sell in increments of whatever anyone wants to buy.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Cos

Stuck between a rock and a hard place mate.

Ideally I'd want half the people I know on blonde to have a little piece as I enjoy the encouragement and thread being interactive (and even with like 8 people having a piece the last thread still prob wasn't as interactive as I'd have liked).

I thought the $5k would be enough for all first stakers (and a few more) to buy a piece but when the only other person who I've ever sold action to live told me they wanted the other $4k I felt it was only fair to accept.

Sorry bud - hopefully I can do well in this and put up a bigger one for $1/2 soon.

Right sorry guys, the absense of updates have been because of the absense of play! Having pretty much busted my own net I was more than fucked off with online poker but I'm good to go now.

Currently total stake is at $6684.54, following an initial loss of a tad over 13 buy ins altogether.

I think $0.5/1 could well be a harder limit to beat than $0.25c/0.50c, $1/2 and $2/4 just because of the frustrating general style of play at these limits and I think it's where most regs are just grinding out the rakeback.

I think Flushy still owes the stake $1.3kish - I will check on the other thread and pm you. No immediate panic as the rest of the stake is on full tilt following our little mishap with blonde last week and my account has been locked. I have one final piece of I.D to send them and then will get the stake straight back on to blonde for grindaments. I envisage play will begin again at the weekend.

I have a busy period at work with my clients Christmas activity all being planned etc so play will be limited during the week and heavy at weekends.

I'm gonna download a PLO tracker too as I think it'll make the biggest difference at 0.5/1 than any other limit I've played before. When I was playing my own dime on VC for the period before my stake began I rarely played 50/1 at all as I found it the most annoying but now I'm more disciplined in my approach it shouldn't take too long to play the right way.

This session is mental.

I've already won a hand with underset making a runner runner flush. I then got one outed with KK on a 373K limped pot where the flop was checked. Other guy had A3 and hit a 3 on the river.

I was initially up a buy in, then I went down nearly 4, now I'm up around 4.5buy ins.

Post by: GreekStein on November 15, 2009, 01:47:57 AM
Session finished, didn't wanna play too long and ran a bluff at the end where I got correctly hero-called by bottom two on a Q2367, costing me 120bbs.

I flatted a raise pre with KKQ10 and saw a Q23 flop. I called a potsize lead to see a 6 turn. Villain leads for under half pot and I raise. River bricks and I bet 83 into 120 and got called by AA36. Owned.

Still a winning session booked so cant complain.

+$334

up $788 for the weekend and almost at even again.

Total raked: $176.55

Yday was just horrible. I had one final session in the evening and at one point I was even down $150 for the weekend but got back to level and went to bed.

Today's been a bit more positive and whilst I'm still not even for the month we're $531 closer and I've raked $400.

Title: Re: Staking for PLO cash on blonde - Part II ($0.50/1)
Post by: GreekStein on November 17, 2009, 04:16:20 PM
Ran a bit brutally in today's session. A win is a win but kept geting backdoored. I 3-bet button with 8910J and cut off (raiser) calls, flop comes 789 rainbow and I make a half pot bet and oppo snap pots. Wiiii. He has 3456 and backdoors runner runner hearts.

Marv.

Dunno why I'm doing totals for play since the weekend but I guess phychologically it helps when you're not constantly thinking 'I'm stuck'. Only about 4 buy ins away from being unstuck anyway when we include rb.

+$611 and raked $465.

You're not stuck if you start a new session. It's just previous profit and loss, and in a swingy game like plo you cant really care.

Also after I demolished you at the blonde cash table do you want to be staking me for 5/10 pls ta?

Stake now at $7,709 with $550 raked so all in I've pretty much brought us 1 buy in from even after being 13 buy ins down initially.

Haven't really been able to put in the volume I would have liked what with starting up gym again but sussed the style of play now and wouldn't ever expect a losing month at these limits.

Wish I didn't say things like that though....sorry for the bok.

Still gotta send full tilt one more proof which I MUST do this weekend.

I finished playing just before 2am last night.

The 12 buy in loss has been recovered and we are now up around $400ish without including rakeback.

I still haven't sent full tilt the I.Ds they need which is pissing me off but not as much as finding all said I.Ds and taking pics etc and sending them.

Will defo do it this weekend!

Let's try and finish the month with a chunk of profit to chop up. 15 BI is a reasonable target I think.

Cos how many tables do you play at once and are they short handed or full ring?

6-max bud.

At 25c/50c I play 9.

This month after a bad start I decided to play less tables until i got back in the green so I've been playing between 4-6 which I'll prob stick with for the end of the month and then might go back to 9 again.

Pretty comfortable with 9 up to 50/1.

Think 6 at $1/2 is fine.

Then prob 4 any limit after that.

Update for Blatch and Flushy: Frustrating night tonight. Won about $250 in the end but was $700 up after about an hour. I was then $100 down after some brudal coolers.

Key hand was losing a 400bb 3-bet pot. I 3-bet button in position with KQ910 double and button peeled.

Flop was 954 with 2 of my K high suit (greens). I led for just under pot and got called. Turn was a 10 and villain potted, so I quickly and happily got the rest in. His very slim j987 no suits got there on the river. Resisted putting the laptop through the wall though, which was good.

Update for Amatay: Still busto. Might let you have a 10% share out of good will if i take up freerolls.

Depends on mood mate. Sometimes I can play a 12 hour session, sometimes I can play 25 minutes.

Sessions per week varies so much that it's pointless trying to give a number.

Basically try to play 20k hands a month I think.

got back from dinner last night and played between 10-3.30am, losing 9BI.

As a result I felt like absolute dogshit when I got up for work today and will be grinding most of the day.

- Was 11 buy ins down at one point
- [ X ] Played real well. [ X ] Lost 400bb pot to one outer. [  ] tilted.
- Got 7BI back in session just after Chelsea pwned Arsenal.
- [ X ] It's because I decided to make the decisions Didier Drogba would make when playing teh omaha.
- Grinded back a bit and then played 2 MTTs on the stake after ok'ing it with stakers
- Discovered Neil Blatchly suffers from periods.
- Finished 12th/473 in one comp.
- [ X ] Lifetilt. [  ] Entirely happy with my endgame.
- Grinded some more cash.
- Grinded some more.
- Reversed a day where I was down 11BI at peak to a bit under a buy in up.
- Raked $300ish over the weekend.

Totals: Profit: $1386 Raked: $1322

Target for December: 30BI win and $2k rake.

[X] beats
[X] brags
[X] variance
[X] cliffs
[X] checkboxes

Can't complain too much considering my play was mostly at the end of the month and I came back twice from being 11 BI down and ending in a profit.

Think you got my total rake confused with the amount of rakeback we're due. If I post on the thread, $1200 raked etc, we get $400 of that back at the end of the month.

I'm gonna take the total for last month as of 3am this morning cos it'll be pretty much impossible to work out otherwise.

Total profit inc rb is $877.

Gonna ship Flushy and Amatay theirs as a whole at the end of the period but will ship yours over as soon as rb is paid into the account which should be within 48 hours.

I make it $164 plus the same from what I owe you from our m/u which is the same amount.

Sound right?

Finally, just asked Blonde Support how many hands I've played each month and since I had my blonde account in June I haven't played more than 17,000 hands in a single month.

Could be some mileage in a prop bet here - how many hands would people be willing to bet at even money that I wouldn't be able to play in January for example?

Working full time and will not be taking any time off fwiw.

My maths might be wrong but worked out 8 tables 3.5 hours a day (average) would do it comfortably - ok not saying its 'easy' to keep going for full month but sure a sick puppy like yourself could manage this if there was $$ on the table    ....or  i wouldn't bet against you at any rate

This month has started terribly, made a few horrible hero calls that cost me.

Sometimes I level myself and give opponents credit for being more creative than they are.

It's an annoying habit that I somehow need to get out of, I seem to start every month losing before I dig in and grind out of it.

Will be likely taking a few days off until the weekend now.

Also, Neil and George, can you pm me your blonde usernames?

FML what a weekend.

Saturday began with me making a deposit to play some small MTTs on my own dime. I think I played 7 in total, including one satellite for the $50k GTD.

I busted the first 2 within about 30 mins playing like a complete dick. After a bit of a word with myself I regged for some more.

I won the $20 deepstack for $700 and came 2nd in a small PLO MTT for about $500 and change and then later in the evening won the $5r for $2.4k and change.

I had also ammassed a stack in the 50k GTD and was never in danger. I was one-tabling by this point and checking the lobby but 12 left was taking a while - this comp strangely has no antes at any point. On my 6-handed table it passed round to the button who opened just as the table merged into one, meaning we were on the final and two had gone from the other table. I moved all in with AQhh and my opponent tanked. The longer he took the more confident I was, thinking he's either got AJ/A10 or a pair like 77/88. As his time almost ran out he made the brave call with AK green. FML. Went from 4th to 10th in a hand and exited in 9th for $1k.

Over the course of Saturday night and I did manage to iron it back out for a weekend total of -$200.

Sexy time.

Had a session on the stake last night and finally began winning which obviously didn't really last long. I was up 6 BI at peak and finished up $52 in the end.

I did something rare though and reviewed every hand from the session and made some general notes which probably explains why I've had the worst month in terms of buy ins I've ever had so far. I'm 100% I'll get back to even but it will probably take me until into Jan to do so which is obviously pretty annoying.

Anyway my notes were:

3-bet pots:

3-betting too many hands. Peel in pos with AKJx type hands more. 3-betting with run downs etc I'm still doing well but I've widened my 3-bet range way too much.

3-bet sizing is sloppy. It seems I'm just hitting 'pot' rather than 3-balling small. Normally I 3-bet to like $9 after someone opens to $3.50 but I've been potting to like $12 all the time. Takes away a bit of my edge post I think.

Playing way too many double suited hands. Start folding these dickface!

Playing too many hands from UTG.

You bink 2 tourns and 2nd in another for about 4k and then do the lot the next day?? I thought I was loose with my cash, but am starting to feel a whole lot better about myself!!!... that is ridic mate, surely you got to just stick to the stake for your own sanity?!

Meh I've had more spins from bowls this year between £2k and £4k and subsequent spin downs that I can count.

Once I'm out of live and online makeup I'm gonna give things a good re-think about what I want from poker.

FWIW... its not what you want from poker that you need to think about I dont think.. I reckon if it wasn't poker then you could still be in danger of being self destructive with your cash through other means - I think you just need to have a look at yourself and realise you are weak in some areas - I'm not trying to preach to you btw,  I can talk from my own experiences and have become pretty self aware of my own weaknesses - I have spunked large amounts of my bankroll in the past when tilted (not to same levels as you have, but not far off) .. I'm not prepared to give up poker so I make life as easy as possible for myself - I put daily deposit limits on my poker accounts and try not to leave money online -  I know that not doing so can get me into trouble.

I started my staking for different reasons but its been great for my discipline - I've learnt that I respect other peoples money far more than my own for some reason (imagine it the same for you?)

If I didn't do these things I couldn't carry on playing I dont think - Just for same reason I dont go into casinos with cash card these days.

GL anyway.

This is why you need to get HEM mate. It makes reviewing sessions really easy and tells you your EV and everything on each street.

Costas Costas Costas, stop being a twat, how many fkin times?? It seems like such a waste of time, effort, money and any poker skills you possess if you keep doin this shit.

This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^.

+2 - I pretty much gave up poker as a serious money making excercise as i couldn't stop doing this, still made a profit every year but not nearly as much as it should have been. Eventually just realised i was a twat and probably couldn't stop myself ever, so no point carrying on. Get it sorted.

If you enjoy it keep doing it. It's not like you're borrowing money to be a degen and you're not hurting anyone so have fun while you haven't got any real responsibilities imo.

Grow up and get sensible when you get a bit a bit older and you need to.

It's not fun though, winning is always great but spunking the lot double quick makes you pretty down on yourself. I did acquire some responsibilities so that definitely played a factor in stopping but wish i'd just been steady before then and taken more from it instead a load what if's.

Well I haven't updated cos I haven't really been playing apart from one day, which was a few small comps on Stu Hopkin's account. Afer running so bad (I guess not playing my best too) I thought it was wise to have a little break. I haven't had a proper rest from poker for a year.

As an aside, full tilt are the most useless shits ever. When they offer me to become a member of team full tilt I'm defo making sure they sort their act out before I accept.

I've now sent all proofs over and waiting for my account to be unlocked. Pls today one time, or do you need longer to look at 2 sheets of fking paper with pictures on and unlock? dfhdhdfhdsdghsdg

Even if it is I won't be playing til after Monte Carlo but over the xmas hols I plan to put in one hell of a grind. My plan is to go back down to $0.25/50 for around a month/month and a half to recoup losses from this month and then start winning mad ones in a better frame of mind.

Live poker is going well for me atm, online has been horrid.

Sorry I haven't updated on the thread - obv everything's been going rotten and I hate it when people get on my back when I'm losing.

Was down a peak of 42/43 buy ins - just over half the stake and so I've dropped down to 25c50c again and now at -37 bi. Stake total on $4317.

Gonna grind it out through Jan and hopefully back to even sometimes in Feb before ...profit.

Blakey - pls can u send my debit card as full tilt require a clearer picture of it on both sides before they unlock my account.

Costas

Finally started playing again. Was 15 further buy ins down at 1 point this weekend, which saw me grind really well the entire time to get back to within 3 buy ins of level. I then won 5 BI tonight for the stake to be at $4534.

Feeling good and got the hunger back.

Will be puttin in a lot of volume from now.

Last night was crazy stressful.

I got home from work at like 7pm and my mate was due to pick me up at 8.30 to go to the gym. Instead of logging on after my gym session I decided to play for an hour or so and was quickly stuck like 6 buy ins. I get it back to down a buy in and a half and ring my mate and tell him to come now because if I get stuck again I'm not leaving the house. In the 15 minutes before arriving at mine I was stuck 10 buy ins, losing a 600bb pot and an 800bb pot respectively. The bigger of the two was particularly sick as I played the hand really well to get big stacks in on a 8964 rainbbow (holding 671010ds) vs 567J for a 10 to hit the river and me to absolutely obliterate my mouse and almost punch my screen in. . Luckily I diverted my aim and hit a shelf. Meanwhile my mate is in the room and asking the most tilting questions. I gave him my gym card and basically told him as nicely as I could, to fuck off.

(The other I raised AA45 with diamonds) and the flop came AKJ vs two diamonds and we got 300bbs in each. My opponent JJQ10 no diamonds so bit of a cooler really. At this point I was down like 11 or 12 BI.

The games were good though and after a 1 hour break where I played 1 45 manner to let the steam go I fired up the tables again and by 1am I was happy enough I guess. In the green to the tune of $200ish.

I do love the games and software on full tilt though. I expected the PLO to be much harder than on EURO sites but I'm finding the opposite is true atm.

If anyone knows where I can get myself signed up to rakeback on FTP please could they let ding me a pm.

Cheers,

I got rakeback through Rakebackpros having previously signed up without. You definitely can't get it if you originally signed up through an affiliate who doesn't give you rakeback. I didn't think anyone really knew how they managed to decide who to give rakeback to though - hadn't heard the Cardrunners thing, what's that about?

To be fair he was never dropped from the team, just dropped from the top of the WR core, he was always a trusted returner.

Selling best player the NFL has ever seen though, but at least you got the right team...

Cheeky little pot booster by the look of it.

Makes it a bit easier to get stacks in if you want to.

Your insane!

My name is Stu,
If I went to the loo,
I’d have to flush my whole body,
Because I’m a giant poo.

I gamble with greek Cos,
In the Mirror,
If I wait just two hours,
He’ll pay for the Chinese dinner.

I won two point seven,
Plus that hundo from greek heaven,
I’m gonna splash all my winnings,
Down at seven eleven.

Thank you pleash.

I've actually today discovered the world of bluefirepoker and it's incred! Watch some of galfond's videos and it's soon apparent why the guy has made so much money.

My sessions usually go a little like win 3 or 4 buy ins every session for 3 or 4 sessions and then drop 10 in a session. I'm gonna be making some pretty big changes and tightening up my game a lot but 10 buy in swing sessions are kinda standard when I'm 9 tabling (which I haven't done in a while).

I've won 20 buy ins in a session before and I've also lost a similar amount.

I love Giggy's intros and his accent. Makes such a change from boring American voices. I always think about my opponents hair range now rotflmfao.

Galfonds vids are great, esp the hold em one about scare cards not being scare cards. :)up

Is there anywhere that can give me a simple guide to using it and how to interpret the figures? Nothing too heavy preferably.

I think the best thing about omaha is that the figures will matter alot less. In that you are alot more worried about post flop tendencies, whilst in holdem preflop numbers can give you a good indication of the hand selection your opponents are using. I think one of the main benefits would be for analysing your own play going back through hh's and seeing equities and some of the other analysis you can do away from the tables.

There will most likely be some good information on 2+2, HEM forums etc. I know that HEM also has some very good leak finder articles to help you analyse your hold em numbers so maybe there are some that also cover omaha.

For the price of the product I see no reason not to have it imo. :)up

He must have started using one if the following is anything to go by....

Have fun setting it up "insert evil laugh smiley here"

Srsly tho it's well worth getting and is definitly worth the hassle of setting it up

[ ] 30 minutes is hassle.

[  ] Took me 30 minutes

[  ] Now looking forward to it.

Lost a buy in last night.

I'm officially not playing until I've set this up now. If I do I'm putting $1000 of what I lost back in from my own pocket. Bling blang blaow.

Either that or the stake fund is $1k better off than it was......

I think I'll set May 1st as my first day of grinding again.
