Out of all the football teams who have been 4-0 with 15 minutes to go over the past 20 years, how many of them do you think didn't win? I bet it's way less than 1% - hence laying 1.01 is a good bet. I have a minimum 4% value needed to bet anything so could never get involved in a 1.01 anyway but it probably wasn't the worst bet valuewise. In terms of bankroll management however.......

Meh... guess the thread can be deleted then... It's a far better story if a guy actually blew his student loan on the bet, instead of rich everyday 1.01-backers. When I worked for US sportsbooks students were a much bigger demographic but that is probably to do with college sports being a big part of what is bet on. There is a big tradition of campus bookies etc in the States too.
Funnily enough when I was a student 13 years ago or so I was the only punter of any size I can remember on my campus but I suppose the internet and poker has changed that a fair bit now. |
