I have a problem. I can't help it, 4-0 up in the 78th minute offering 1.01 (1% profit for 12 minutes work, in non-betting talk). Fucking bent africans cost me my place at uni.

I'm sure a lot of you have heard about this already, and I know full well that people have broken themselves in the past doing the same type of thing, but this guy is a student and put his loan on at 1.01.

Sick.

Just makes him more of an idiot in my eyes, he's gambled his education (he says it cost him his place at uni) for £44...

Surprised people were still offering 1.01 tbh.

HOAX

I v.much doubt it's a hoax tbh. I see people trying to buy money all the time on Betfair, and while I would never ever ever ever consider doing it myself, it is surprising that 1.01 was still being offered at 4-0...

Don't see why.

Out of all the football teams who have been 4-0 with 15 minutes to go over the past 20 years, how many of them do you think didn't win?

I bet it's way less than 1% - hence laying 1.01 is a good bet.

The only fail here was bankroll management.

I wasn't talking value-wise really; I spend all day looking at Sports markets at work, and generally due to all the people attempting to buy money at the 1.01's and 1.02's the prices don't tend to hold for long.

1.01 at 4-0 up with 20 mins or so to go seemed like value to me.  I have a minimum 4% value needed to bet anything so could never get involved in a 1.01 anyway but it probably wasn't the worst bet valuewise.  In terms of bankroll management however.......

Meh... guess the thread can be deleted then...

It's a far better story if a guy actually blew his student loan on the bet, instead of rich everyday 1.01-backers.

I'm not sure how much was actually traded at 1.01, but I hear that £39 was traded at 1000 on the draw.

1.01 seems incred value to me at 4-0, doubt that was available.

1.01 wld never be available at 4-0 with that long left, if at all ever at 4-0- simples.

What a stupid thing to make up.

It was an amazing thing to make up considering the amount of people that fell for it and how quickly it spread.
