Title: river raises annoy me somewhat Post by: piestack on January 18, 2010, 10:09:11 PM villain is a bit of a nit, but stacks off with tptk. even with a 4 to a straight on the board. against an overbet river shove. like he did vs me 4 hands ago. hence why i called pre.
my line looks fos, but then, so does his. call raise or fold? 6-max Seat #2 is the button Seat 1: Hero ($789 in chips) Seat 2: btn ($648.10 in chips) Seat 3: small ($511 in chips) Seat 4: big ($645.80 in chips) Seat 5: villain ($400 in chips) Seat 6: +1 ($507.60 in chips) small: posts small blind $2 big: posts big blind $4 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to Hero [Qh Th] villain: raises $10 to $14 +1: folds Hero: calls $14 btn: folds small: folds big: folds *** FLOP *** [Qc 9h 6c] villain: bets $20 Hero: calls $20 *** TURN *** [Qc 9h 6c] [4s] villain: checks Hero: checks *** RIVER *** [Qc 9h 6c 4s] [4h] villain: checks Hero: bets $40 villain: raises $108 to $148 Hero: ????????? Title: Re: river raises annoy me somewhat Post by: Blatch on January 19, 2010, 12:34:40 AM you fold cos he has a house Why do you think villain checks turn with a set here on such a draw heavy board? Once we have called the flop the turn doesnt change anything. Title: Re: river raises annoy me somewhat Post by: GreekStein on January 19, 2010, 12:36:22 AM i call.
Title: Re: river raises annoy me somewhat Post by: George2Loose on January 19, 2010, 12:49:04 AM Problem is if villian is bad he may check turn with with a set.
However on the other hand I don't think many bad players can check a full house here on the river hoping you'll bet I'd call too Title: Re: river raises annoy me somewhat Post by: AlexMartin on January 19, 2010, 01:01:17 AM well the top of your range looks like KQ and villain could be trying to move u off top pair, so this could be a level spot, which makes me inclined to call.
disclaimer:- nah fk that, 95% of the time sackitoff is right and he has a house. hes a nit, right? Title: Re: river raises annoy me somewhat Post by: Blatch on January 19, 2010, 01:03:19 AM well the top of your range looks like KQ and villain could be trying to move u off top pair, so this could be a level spot, which makes me inclined to call. disclaimer:- nah fk that, 95% of the time sackitoff is right and he has a house. hes a nit, right? A nit who stacks off with TPTK on a 4 card straight board? BEHAVE!!!! Only hand I think were losing too is Ac 4c Title: Re: river raises annoy me somewhat Post by: Blatch on January 19, 2010, 03:09:39 AM Yeah just call. Rare that people go for a river c/r for value when the turn c/r fails. Agree with Blatch that A4 seems like the only hand that he could have that makes any sense. GET IN!!!!!!!!!!!!! James "McFkin" Keys agrees with me. I must be getting better at this. Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Title: Re: river raises annoy me somewhat Post by: railtard1 on January 19, 2010, 06:25:52 AM mehh, pretty sure 99 plays this way also, will try and check raise the turn, then probably check river to induce bluffs from a ton of missed draws etc,..
Top of ur range is KQ though... depends how good of a nit he is level myself into a callllllll Title: Re: river raises annoy me somewhat Post by: outragous76 on January 19, 2010, 09:04:31 AM so for everyone saying call - what are we beating? - you are all working on the basis its a bluff?
i think the villain could be looking to c/r the turn fairly certain that the river doesnt improve the heros hand he lets the hero bet all his missed draws on the end (as surely when the hero is checking the turn you have to include draw type hands in his range??) as for him check raising - well he is hoping it looks like a bluff with his 99 and he gets snapped by TP no kicker?????? ;D Title: Re: river raises annoy me somewhat Post by: Radagast on January 19, 2010, 11:33:54 AM I agree he looks loose from your previous experience. Is he clever enough to do the same to you with a big hand?
Also if he is not that sharp then maybe he is checking a set on the turn. In terms of his pre flop raise I say he has better than QT this time. I am folding this Im afraid. Title: Re: river raises annoy me somewhat Post by: kinboshi on January 19, 2010, 12:02:54 PM Can we define 'bit of a nit' please?
Title: Re: river raises annoy me somewhat Post by: GreekStein on January 19, 2010, 12:28:44 PM Just wondering if someone could help me here....does the Queen in our hand match the top card of all 5 on the board?
Title: Re: river raises annoy me somewhat Post by: Sack it off on January 19, 2010, 12:37:37 PM I just think we have played this hand too much like we have top pair and its obvious the everyone, so not many players will see this as a bluffing opportunity

Yeah just call. Rare that people go for a river c/r for value when the turn c/r fails. Agree with Blatch that A4 seems like the only hand that he could have that makes any sense. these were my two thoughts and i couldn't work out which would be more correct here Can we define 'bit of a nit' please? he's pretty nitty pre (20/17 iirc) mostly playing in position. postflop he doesn't like giving up hands but moreso when he calls. probably gives up more than most decent tags. won't fold avg hands so i would expect him to call with a lot so raises look like monsters or bluffs. normally this is a house or A4 but it's such a bad river to check with a monster. and then I just think we have played this hand too much like we have top pair and its obvious the everyone, so not many players will see this as a bluffing opportunity so i don't think he thinks i'm folding so i think of folding cos he probably won't think i willthat confused me so i tossed a coin. it landed on the floor so i folded. |
