Title: RSQ 25 (ish) - The Less Posh One
Post by: kinboshi on December 08, 2010, 01:57:18 PM
The Rules

There are 10 questions.

PM me your answers by 23:59 Monday 13 December.  The subject line should be RSQ EPISODE 25 - ANSWERS, and please give each answer on a SEPARATE line with corresponding question number.

The reveal will take place at 19:45 Tuesday 14 December.

Your score for each question is number of people who give the same correct answer. So you want to go for answers that you think will be less commonly given. Levelling commonly happens. The answer most commonly given is called the sheep, with the corresponding sheep score.  If you score the only ACE in any round, you will receive MINUS 1 points for that round.  So a solitary ace for a round scores better than a pass.

You are not allowed to do research such as Google searches to come up with answers, and you're not allowed to ask others for help with your answers.  Those who do will be spotted by the other contestants and no doubt pointed out.  Punishment will be dealt to those deemed cheating.  I will be the judge, but a jury of your peers might be drafted in to decide guilt or innocence.

If you give an incorrect answer, you will receive 10 points (or one more point than the highest scoring correct answer if this scores 10 or more).

You MUST pass on one, and only one, question and score a 0 for that question.

Any questions, post in this thread. If it's a stupid question, expect a stupid answer.

Spelling mistakes will be treated according to their severity and may invoke a penalty.

Objections are allowed, but a source must be provided with the INITIAL objection, otherwise subsequent evidence will most probably be deemed inadmissible and your case will be thrown out.

Your house is at risk if you do not keep up payments on any loans secured against it.

If a previous winner is victorious they will nominate the next QM - and this will be a virgin QM.

Please read the rules, and re-read them.  Ignorance of the rules will not be an acceptable excuse for farcical objections or questions, and the judge (and jury if necessary) will be called upon to determine guilt and the punishment.

Lowest score after the 10 rounds will win.  In the case of a tie, the person with the most posts will win.  If there is still a tie, the first to post will win - DUCY?

Q1

Here are 11 images that are (or were) the logos (or part of the logos) for an organisation/company/brand/product.  Please select one of the logos and give the organisation and the number next to the image.

For example:

12 - blondepoker

Q2

There are 26 letters of the alphabet.  In Scrabble, each letter is assigned a score value.  Please give a letter that is worth 1 or 2 points.

Q3

According to the song "The Twelve Days of Christmas" my true love gave me all sorts of shit as presents.  Name one of these presents and how many of that present I received according to the traditional English version of the song that appears in The Oxford Dictionary of Nursery Rhymes.  Foreign versions will not be accepted, even if you are foreign, or stupid, or both.

For example:

13 Scandies 5-betting

Q4

Solve any one of the equations below and give the value of  x  alongside the letter of the equation you've solved (give all answers as positive integers if there is more than one possible answer.)

For example:

m) x = 3141

Q5

Below are the photos of 12 men and 12 women.  Simply give the name of a man and woman from the photos below to make a 'famous couple' (either current, past, rumoured or on-screen between their characters)

For example:

13. Tikay & M. Michelle Orpe

(http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc43/kinboshi/couples/1.png)(http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc43/kinboshi/couples/2.png)(http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc43/kinboshi/couples/3.png)(http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc43/kinboshi/couples/4.png)

haven't got as far as the questions yet. only got to this ridic rule

If a previous winner is victorious they will nominate the next QM - and this will be a virgin QM.

putting that in when it's not your first go is a joke. power gone to your head much?

Rubbish questions - a disturbing lack of farce.

I shall enter though, feeling confident that farce is an emergent property of RSQ.

No, but you do get a grade B at GCSE.
If you answered them all tomorrow, you'd get an A, cos of grade inflation.

If you know all the colours, all the couples, all the 12 days of xmas gifts, all the currencies in Europe and can can answer all the maths questions - then you get a bonus point.

But only if you PM me with all those answers before 14:39 today.

Obv I'm passing the picture question.

I always hate picture rounds. I'm really bad at photos of people. I once looked at a photo of me and failed to realise it was me.

pmsl - spat my tea out at that one hahahahhahhahaha

I thought I was bad at picture rounds (as Claw will testify at my diabolcal answers to apparwntly very famous people on the Blonde Bash Quiz ...... still loving that quiz, the best ever  ;D  )

EDIT:  Not too hot at spelling either having re-read the post

dunno, I thought your team's answer to the picture of Edward VIII on the picture round was the highlight of the quiz :D

Oh and also this is RSQ 35.

31 before we stopped it and this is the 4th of the revised lot. So no where near 25ish at all. Sort it out.

Ignoring rsq live and rush rsq here of course.

Erm, I could sure be bothered counting or going through the previous ones - hence the wild stab in the dark at the number followed by (ish).

You should be brushing up on recognising people's faces rather than counting previous RSQs.

Are you suggesting I go and do some research to help me identify the people in the photos?

No, for life in general.  If you answer that question at all now, I'll know you've cheated.

A Reverse Sheep Quiz Master (in this case Kinfishy) is a person who passes as an exacting expert on the basis of being able to turn out, after innumerable punching, an infinite series of incomprehensible questions calculated with micrometric precision from vague assumptions based on debatable facts taken from inconclusive documents and carried out on instruments of problematical accuracy leaving people to believe that they are of dubious reliability and questionable mentality and that the exercise is for the avowed purpose of annoying and confounding a hopelessly defenceless band of intrepid contestants who were unfortunate enough to enter into the competition the first place.

Lowest score after the 10 rounds will win.  In the case of a tie, the person with the most posts will win.  If there is still a tie, the first to post will win - DUCY?

whilst were here waiting i'll fill some time with a little anecdote.  see that little pile of coins in my avatar.  I won those off some geezer for betting that matt would win x factor rather than one direction.  it was with some excitement i collected the little pile of coins from the office today, only to find that said geezer had also polished off all but two of the twin pack of malted milk biscuits i'd bought last week  ;grr;

OBJECTION - this is the correct version:

On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...
12 Drummers Drumming
11 Pipers Piping
10 Lords-a-Leaping
9 Ladies Dancing
8 Maids-a-Milking
7 Swans-a-Swimming
6 Geese-a-Laying
5 Gold Rings
4 Colly Birds
3 French Hens[8]
2 Turtle Doves
And a Partridge in a Pear Tree.

Is it the version asked for in the Question?

dunno - you stopped posting the questions.

worst QM EVER

you're in teh perfect position to partake of the super fun to be had - giving grief to the useless QM.

I was going to give cumulative scores after the next round.  Thought they'd be some objections to that one.  No one's put forward a decent objection yet.

I considered objecting, but I'm doing so abjectly that it would seem futile.

However:

Objection to lack of scores on the basis that I need my humiliation to be complete.

I am making an objection to the actual song.

'Eleven Lords a Leaping' quite clearly scans better than 'Ten Lords a Leaping'

A version considered by many to be the authoritative, traditional version of the chant in England appears in The Oxford Dictionary of Nursery Rhymes, as follows:

The twelfth day of Christmas,
| My true love sent to me | Twelve lords a-leaping, | Eleven ladies dancing, | Ten pipers piping, | Nine drummers drumming, | Eight maids a-milking, | Seven swans a-swimming, | Six geese a-laying, | Five gold rings, | Four calling birds, | Three French hens, | Two turtle doves, and | A partridge in a pear tree.

Simply to say "Overruled" with no justification is shoddy.

Yes but this was between film characters, so the characters should be quoted not the actors.

Yes but this was between film characters, so the characters should be quoted not the actors.

Matthew 26:47-49
Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people. Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast. And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.

Mark 14:43-45
And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely. And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him.

Luke 22:47-48
And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him. But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?

Is that an objection.  Are you comparing Aaron to Adam?

I am. Aaron is Adam lite, or not so lite these days.

Fail please

Not sure I can fail for knowledge.

objection to Lavender being F - Lavender is a light purple, your F on page one is virtually white!!

wow, you need a new monitor

laptop is only just over 12 months old, i was torn between H and L for lavender, but decided H was just a touch too dark - its never F

http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_colornames.asp

the lavender on that link is much darker than the lavender on your page one!!

That was the page I got it from.

Obviously to her double-barrelled married name, but also to Princess Consuela Banana Hammock.

By the time the series ends she is no longer called Phoebe buffay. Hence it's wrong. You wouldn't have accepted princess conseula now would you.

But a fail nevertheless.

In 1989, Rod, Jane and Freddy left the show to concentrate on touring, pantomime appearances and their own separate TV show (which had run parallel with Rainbow since 1981). This meant that Dawn Bowden was introduced as a regular female character in place of Jane - ergo a hell of a lot more times than once

In what, Rainbow?

IMDB has Dawn Bowden   ...   Zippy's Neighbour (1 episode, 1990-1992)

The character is "Zippy's Neighbour" and she featured in 1 episode out of 993!

SUSTAINED

Obvious google and wrong answer.  Score will be adjusted accordingly.

With a score already in the 40's I sure did google - not that it matters that my integrity is called into question - <huff>

OK, no google.

But a fail nevertheless.

In 1989, Rod, Jane and Freddy left the show to concentrate on touring, pantomime appearances and their own separate TV show (which had run parallel with Rainbow since 1981). This meant that Dawn Bowden was introduced as a regular female character in place of Jane - ergo a hell of a lot more times than once

they should all be fails anyway

Very good Dan

but in a way very bad. Questions were precise, farce quotient was low and notwithstanding your usual IT issues, its over far too quickly

You've let us down.

turkey is hardly european

Yeah, good point - only 3% of it is in Europe.  But that's enough for it to count.  Same as most of Russia is in Asia, but it still counts.

OK, please justify Lat being a fail.

Latvia is in Europe, and as far as I'm aware they've not gone Euro yet.

Latvia is not a fail, the Lat does not change to the Euro til 2012

So well done McSnort

It will be a real challenge for you to set the next quiz without being banned for abusing Jon Lundy with religious slurs, but I know you can do it

Questions as soon as you can please, reveal before Xmas. Cheers

FFS. I come back from the pub quiz, expecting this farce to be still on Q3, and it's done and dusted. Happy that I'm safely mid-table, having hit an absurd number of sheep along the way. That notwithstanding, what a

Meh - had feck all to do with my absence.  Between yer rubbish delays in scoring and refusal to accept objections...no wonder it went quiet.  You drained their will to fight right out of them.  Was like dealing with a bald version of sharplea.  [ ] Well done.
