LOL ;nana; ;nana; ;nana; ;nana; Ahrt TY for the good luck messages. It played out the way Leknave said, with 18 winners going to 2 stts that played down to 5, chips carried forward at every stage. 8 brits made it through to stage 2 as well, we worked out that possibly only blonde's own Rupert was the only brit who didn't win their heat or lose to another brit. In my heat I was 3-handed with the 2 other brits as well. Possibly the Australians were all preoccupied by how bad they are at cricket. Title: Re: Aussie Funk for Five Brits Post by: paulhouk03 on January 25, 2011, 11:04:19 AM Finally, Patrik Antonius has a taker for prop betting flops. Sam Trickett tried to negotiate down to $10k a pop, but Antonius said he wouldn't agree to anything less than $25k. Trickett agreed and took hearts and diamonds, leaving Antonius with spades and clubs. If a flop comes out with three of their suit, they get $25,000. Be warned, Sam. Antonius runs really well at these.

Title: Re: Aussie Funk for Five Brits Post by: Woodsey on January 26, 2011, 04:37:03 PM Trickett playing the 250k super hi roller tomorrow. Sick comp Where the hell does he get his money from? I know he has won a chunk recently, but he says he sold off chunks of the action from when he won. Even if he had $2 mill or so its not like its enough to sensibly enter a $250k comp lol Title: Re: Aussie Funk for Five Brits Post by: Dubai on January 26, 2011, 04:41:31 PM Not many investors can say no to a guy who been getting the lot for him- and James Bord one of his biggest investors, not gonna say no if Sam says u have got half at 1.2

Title: Re: Aussie Funk for Five Brits Post by: EvilPie on January 26, 2011, 05:03:27 PM Not many investors can say no to a guy who been getting the lot for him- and James Bord one of his biggest investors, not gonna say no if Sam says u have got half at 1.2 Fair enough, guess I'm too much of a nit to risk any significant chunks of binks of this scale in the unlikely event I ever had them! I think he's making a great investment tbh. Firstly he has a chance of winning a lot of money from the comp but the exposure he's going to get from playing this event is huge. He's now playing high stakes games with Ivey, Durr and PA. It won't be long before he's making enough from sponsorship to not worry about buy ins. He's going to be one of the biggest names in international poker if he continues to play these games and that would be worth millions. I guess I'm just musing at the fact that what he has won is a life changing sum for me so I would have locked it up lol Title: Re: Aussie Funk for Five Brits Post by: GreekStein on January 26, 2011, 05:18:10 PM He's also pretty sick good. Playing these things and becoming a household name (at least in poker terms) means he'll be allowed to play in games like the macau ones (where he recently made 1mil) where people like jungleman would be told to gtfo.

Title: Re: Aussie Funk for Five Brits Post by: buzzharvey22 on January 27, 2011, 09:25:03 AM taken from http://www.pokernews.com/live-reporting/2011-aussie-millions/250-000-super-high-roller/
Sam Trickett made it 60,000 from the button, and David Benyamine called. The flop came {10-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}, and Benyamine checked to Trickett, who bet 85,000. Benyamine raised it up, making it 235,000 total. Trickett, not wanting to relent made the call. The turn was the {a-Spades}, and Benyamine bet 300,000. Trickett peaked at his cards again, while he pondered what to do. Finally he time-banked, giving himself a little bit more time before, wait for it, time-banking again with his last "time" chip. When he finally acted he moved all-in, getting an instant call. Sam Trickett: {a-Hearts}{4-Spades} David Benyamine: {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs} It was looking good for a chop, but this is poker, and this is also Sam Trickett. We mean, the man basically owns high-rollers here in Melbourne. The river? Well, yea… it was the {4-Hearts}. Title: Re: Aussie Funk for Five Brits Post by: JK on January 27, 2011, 10:18:56 AM On the next hand, Erik Seidel had the button and limped. Trickett then raised to 175,000. Seidel made the call and the dealer burned and turned a flop of . Trickett checked to Seidel, who fired out 150,000. Trickett moved all in and Seidel quickly called.
Trickett tabled , while Seidel showed for top pair. The turn, brought no help to Trickett, nor did the , and Sam Trickett was eliminated in 2nd place from the biggest buy-in tournament ever, taking home AUD$1.4 million.
