Some of the play was so lolbad that it was fun to watch. But the overall setup just didn't really have the same HSP feeling. I didn't think the last couple of seasons did either - I thought the were a bit too pro heavy and all the durrr respect spoilt it a little as there wasn't as much gambling going on as people were scared to play him. I guess we've got that back a little now with the ridic rich businessmen and their overbets. But the lack of Kaplan ruins it for me.

Kaplan was shit on his own. Worst decision they made was getting rid of AJ and bringing in Kara who adds nothing to the show

Wasn't as good as Kaplan+Benza but he was much better than the new guy!

Dumping aj was a mistake. His chemistry with gabe was spot on

Give him a chance- he doesnt seem too bad- I found Kaplan on his own more annoying

Gabe used to tilt me so much with his "raise for info" kind of comments.

Reynolds/Hartigan(sp) would be best for me, but a guy like Norm MCdonald who just commentates and doesnt give opinion and lots of short strat interviews w/Kara seems fine to me.

What?  All episode he talked about "raising to ask the question" and tried to predict what the players would do, getting it wrong around half the time.

Yeah I mean if all he was commentate rather than critique I think it would work well so I could enjoy it more.

The  5s 7s raise from the cut off?  Pretty standard I thought.

Really enjoyed the show, don't hate the commentator but could do without the cut away interviews.  Great idea to replace the FTers with the mega rich old guys instead of going down a rung for the next level of pro players.  You're going to see bad play but you want to see some bad play, it's damn entertaining.

Just don't think he wanted to to play a massive pot with QQ I reckon. I suppose if he had played with these guys for a bit longer and knew what they were up to, it would be different.

From what i remember Ruffin owed either the Frontier or the Stardust. Sold out at peak strip prices for the lot to be demolished and a new hotel to be built on both lots. When MGM hit money problems he made them an offer for Treasure Island and managed to pick it up for $100m less than he sold previous hotel. Not a bad bit of business.

Watching all the table play 'good' poker is dull as dishwater. You need  2 or 3 randoms splashing around in every pot to make it interesting, that why the PP thing last weekend was so good  :)

Poker wise this has been a terrible season. If they refuse to put on the big guns who generate action (ie full tilt players), it will not make another season

The principal of having whales was great, until the pros only wanted to get it in with the stone colds against them. Some of the play has been nothing short of embarrasing my the pros

I would expect this to be the last season of HSP. Black Friday will kill it off, stars are propping it up by sponsoring it at the moment. No way do they sponsor it next season, does any other country actually show it on tv apart from the states?

In fact tv poker is in for a shake up. I expect PAD and the big game to be gone as well. ESPN have confirmed that they are going to show WSOP this year though.
