"For the first time ever on the UKIPT two separate Day1 flights were held on the same day. It was a mammoth undertaking that started at midday when 253 players took their seats for Day 1B, and ended a little after 4.15a.m when the remaining 34 players from the 114 players that started Day 1C bagged and tagged their chips. That meant 615 players in total entered the tournament up from the 518 who played here in 2010. They've created a total prize pool of £307,500 and a first prize of £74,000. In total 81 players will get paid with a min-cash worth £750. At close of play Michael Oakes, who amassed 167,300, leads today's field into Day 2 although he trails Day 1A chip leader Paul Nash (168,000). Not far behind is Sarah Hannan (159,900) who had a terrific last level at a tough table and took chips from Luke Marsh (83,000) and Nick Abou Risk (123,000). 7.24pm: New chip leader Robert Angood is looking like the current chip leader given that he has a stack of around 400,000. I just witnessed the hand that took him to the top of the chip charts. Rupinder Bedi opened to 6,300 from the cut-off, Ian Tweedie flat on the button as did Angood from the big blind. The flop was 4♣T♣8♥ Angood and Bedi checked to Tweedie who bet 12,000, only Angood called. The turn was the 7♠ and Angood checked again, this time Tweedie moved all-in for over 100,000, quite the overbet. Angood, who had Tweedie covered, let out a gasp of breath, stood up and announced call, turning over 8♦7♦, which was ahead of Tweedie's J♥T♥. The 8♠ river gave Angood a house, a huge pot and the chip lead. - NW Title: Re: UKIPT Manchester thread Post by: George2Loose on March 12, 2011, 08:23:52 PM He is on my table. The bubble took a while to burst but in a what goes around, comes around sort of way it's fitting that Rupinder Bedi was the player who burst it. Bedi knows what it's like to bubble a UKIPT having suffered that fate in Coventry in April last year. In the pivotal hand Jonathan Huckle shoved from under-the-gun +1 for 42,000 and Bedi called from the small blind, he was also a short stack having started the hand with 60,000. Whilst tournament staff waited for hands on other tables to finish Bedi and Huckle bantered back and forth about how sick one of them was going to feel shortly. Finally it was time for the reveal. Bedi: J♥J♦ Huckle: A♥K♦ The board ran out 3♠2♣7♠J♠9♦ to guarantee the remaining players all at least wiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Title: Re: UKIPT Manchester thread Post by: mouth on March 12, 2011, 09:04:16 PM Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii wp george!!!

I'm trying to keep up with the Old School textbook. They say AK is just Ace high, did he fold AA because it's just one pair and it doesn't often improve to any of the higher hand rankings? And he would be stupid to setmine this shallow and going for a 4card flush or straight is just plain barmy!

If there were shitloads of runners still left and quite a way off winning it then surely this makes it a fold so we at least lock up $10k or whatever for a min cash!! Title: Re: UKIPT Manchester thread Post by: redarmi on March 13, 2011, 03:47:49 AM I know I am going to be ridiculed for this but if someone is underrolled then I think it is a fair enough spot to fold aces. I would and could never do it but if $10k means the difference between being able to move up stakes or not for example then the fold is worth it in terms of the opportunities it gives you later on. Stu Rutter made the point much better than I ever could on the thread where Shaun King folded AK.

The guy pictured in the thread is not the guy tho, he was the raiser. Hand went like this, my bb, utg (guy pictured), who has raise-folded ak last hand and was shown queens by the sb, makes same raise utg to 11.5k at 2500/5k from 170k stack. All fold to cutoff who dwells, thinks, blah blah, 'i fold but keep those cards to the side dealer'. Everyone folds inc me in bb, utg says i had it, shows ak again, folder says to the dealer show them what i folded....shows aces.
i kinda get that if you're in a £500 comp for buttons/freeroll then making the money matters, but like 10 hands earlier the same guy shoved over a button raise with his AJ, he had like 60k at 2k/4k and was never gonna bubble if he was that bovved. He said something about not liking the spotlight when he was the allin guy at hand for hand...no idea what he did it, or why he didnt pass AJ in that case (obv he doubled v button's AT), why he didn't just slip them in the muck quietly if he wanted to pass. Some interesting play in this comp so far, going back with 165k tomoro :) Title: Re: UKIPT Manchester thread Post by: DMorgan on March 13, 2011, 05:27:17 AM fyp Title: Re: UKIPT Manchester thread Post by: TightEnd on March 13, 2011, 10:19:28 AM 52 left

Now he wants to go around folding aces and showing. but why would he not fold AA on the bubble. "I have had it 4 times already, and Im pretty sure that between now and the end of the tourney ill get it at least 6 more times, thats a statistical probability cause it happens everytime I play. Anyways, ill prob fold AA at least 1 more time pre flop before the final table, afterall if there are 2 people already in the pot, im never gonna be better than 50% to win the hand, so why would I put a cent in the pot? Surely I just wait to get aces and just keep getting it in heads up with people with QQ or KK - happens to me all the time. Unless of course its the final table bubble, when obv its a snap fold cause the pay jump is a sick one, and the TV time is worth more to me" Title: Re: UKIPT Manchester thread Post by: TightEnd on March 13, 2011, 10:39:35 AM Ben Spraggons United Kingdom PokerStars qualifier 30000 spraggs on blonde thanks, should have guessed that! JP just out 5th, well done too Title: Re: UKIPT Manchester thread Post by: brummieboy on March 14, 2011, 07:26:30 PM Thanks for all the good luck messages, had a great time and it was a good experience.
Didn't have any cards at the final and hardly any spots, might have been different and given me a bit more leverage if i hadn't 3 barrel bluffed off 500k chips with 5 high with 9 left. Also the TV camera's did put me off my normal game a bit, but will be used to it next time. Title: Re: UKIPT Manchester thread Post by: brummieboy on March 14, 2011, 07:29:20 PM Paul just busted. WP mate Thanks mate, was gutted those Jacks didn't hold up for you, you'd of been a cert for the final table if you's have won that hand.
