Title: WSOP 2011- Who's going? Post by: Longy on April 10, 2011, 02:55:11 PM Thought I would start a social thread for wsop, see who is out there when and possible meet ups for drinks, dinner etc.
I am in Vegas from June 8th to June 17th. Not sure where I am staying, but it will be a 4*+ somewhere on the strip (anybody with any amazing deals let me know!). What I am playing will be dependent on my bank roll at the time, though it is safe to say it will be on the nitty side. I am going to San Francisco for a weekend after, to de tilt. Lets gogogogo. No worries, nice to have it all in one place for reference and there are no shortage of comps for everyone throughout the whole series :) I'm there the 2 weeks before the main event, I booked up in January just guessing the dates Ladbrokes would be there and got it just about right. I'll be staying IP/Harrahs if I don't qualify with them and the Palazzo if I do. Just call the casino host / cage tit, pretty straight forward - they'll give you SWIFT, IBAN, Bank Routing info and instructions and then check with your bank this end. I am first direct and pretty simple to do over the phone, can do in a single day and from memory i did it in one day last time and they charged me £40. I know a couple of people taking similar sums in cash and declaring it but im not a fan of that with the way American security is at airports. Some people have had zero problems, others have reported having to take markers at pit games and then pressurised by the pit boss to play "I did all the paperwork.."
Take cash. Take some bank statement/withdrawal receipt to show where it came from Declare it at first opportunity to Customs, and on the white landing card. (You can fill the customs form out in LV whilst waiting for baggage carousel to start up) They won't blink when you say "WSOP" Feel free to convert some of the cash into high denom chips for ease of pocketing. Room safes are safe enough for modest amounts, for $50k I'd try and get a lock-box in a poker room/main cage.
