Title: GUKPT Walsall Live Update and thread Post by: TightEnd on April 26, 2011, 10:16:19 AM Beginning on Friday, and as good an excuse not to be riveted to the TV coverage of the Royal Wedding as any, I will be in Walsall for a live update of the third GUKPT of 2011 in Walsall
Friday sees two flights, at midday and 6pm Lots of people to look out for Firstly, www.thefirmpoker.com are helping out with the costs of this, enabling me to cover the event on blonde. Thank you to them. Playing for them will be Stuart Rutter, David Nicholson, Dan Morgan, Steve Holden, Ben Jenkins and Mark McCluskey Secondly Team Sky Poker will be there in force. Names when I have them, but I think it includes Richard Orford. Briefly probably, but it includes him anyway! Thirdly APAT has seven event winners playing it including BAM and the mole I won't know which way to turn and which hat to be wearing!. Are you playing, please post on here and let us know Title: Re: GUKPT Walsall Live Update and thread Post by: AndrewT on April 26, 2011, 10:21:45 AM (http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-haEbwqxnRRg/TWUcmp_8EaI/AAAAAAAAAGk/x3A3RDF4EHQ/s1600/SKing_Many_Hats_Image.jpg)

The third leg of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour arrives in Walsall this week, providing a much needed distraction from the Royal Wedding hype with a £1000 Main Event starting on ‘The big day’ and ending on a May Day final table. Looking back at last year’s results, the Walsall Main Event continues to attract a host of top players every time the GUKPT swings through the Midlands. The 2010 champion was Colin McTaggart who took £57,700 for his victory at Walsall Grosvenor Casino, while chasing him down into the cash positions (total prize pool £206,000) were GUKPT champions Mike Ellis, Priyan de Mel, Praz Bansi and Karl Mahrenholz among many others. These will be £30 rebuy tournaments with one seat guaranteed with 10 players. Leg 3 will have its own £10,000 Champion of Champions tournament on Wednesday 4th May at 7:30pm on gcasino.com/poker. Take down any non-satellite event during the festival to qualify and share in the unprecedented added value on the 2011 tour. Title: Re: GUKPT Walsall Live Update and thread Post by: Knottikay on April 26, 2011, 03:09:35 PM I am coming down Friday to rail only (escapes the Royal Farce anyway!) Can I have some entrance details please to get into the casino....ie ID required? Dress code etc? Plus is there some cheap digs in the area in case I partake in a 'couple' of beverages and stop over? Many thanks in advance to anyone who can assist. Cheers, Alan Title: Re: GUKPT Walsall Live Update and thread Post by: TightEnd on April 26, 2011, 03:12:40 PM Yes ID, photo ID if you have not been before, grosvenor membership card too
dress code as any other Grosvenor, jeans/trainers fine Hotels. Quality hotel is the worst named hotel in the world but its 2 mins away and cheap Across the m6 is a new Holiday Inn Express Title: Re: GUKPT Walsall Live Update and thread Post by: tikay on April 26, 2011, 03:17:08 PM I am coming down Friday to rail only (escapes the Royal Farce anyway!) If not, bring ID, or you will not get in. Dress Code? "Normal" casual is fine. Only Luton & "The Vic" do the "over the top" thing. Cheap digs? No idea, but mostly people stay locally at either the Holiday Inn Express, or The Village Hotel, which are adjacent each other. They are, as the crow flies, only 200 yards from the Casino - literally, bang opposite the Casino but on the other side of the M6 - but it's a long & roundabout journey over the bridge, on foot. But mostly people car share to & from the Hotel/Casino, so you could just jump in with any of us. Avoid, like the plague, "Quality Hotel", it's proper poo. The plan is for the Sky Poker guys to play Flight 1a, which commences at Noon. See you on Friday. It's just G-Luton that ban hoodies. Fingers crossed, I'll bring along a bunch of hoodies for the new Members of Team Sky Poker, & 1 or 2 other regulars who are playing the event. Dave Johnson? Never heard of him. Claims to have won the Blackpool GUKPT last year, but I don't buy that, I've seen him play. Agreed, but my hotel bookings are done for me & they told me that The Village Hotel is fully booked for Friday & Saturday. Great shame, it's one of my favourite Hotels at the lower end of the price range. If he can get into The Village Hotel, then he should - it's the tops. Title: Re: GUKPT Walsall Live Update and thread Post by: Doobs on April 27, 2011, 07:17:42 PM you can buy in juice free on blue square or g casino, under vip tab but you have to be cruiserweight or higher. I only found out by accident no explanation anywhere, standard. Ah, I guess they must have changed it as I have bought in before with no reg fee. This time it was £70. I am guessing I am playing the noon start, though it wasn't entirely clear from the software when I looked last night (start date was noon on the 27th). You have to rake under $300 to become 'cruiserweight' and get the juice free, which is only a day's play for internet wizards like me....
Title: Re: GUKPT Walsall Live Update and thread Post by: JaffaCake on April 27, 2011, 09:48:22 PM Here is the release, delete if spammy:
As someone who has previously taken advantage of our concession to buy in to GUKPT events via our poker client ‘juice free’ I wanted to inform you of some changes that we have now made on the site. With our close association with the GUKPT we thought it would be great to offer our players the opportunity to register via us for free so encourage registrations to the GUKPT tournaments and to give players on Blue Square poker a nice reward for their loyal custom. This is only viable for us however if those that take advantage of the concession are players that are also playing on our tables and so generating an amount of rake that make the concession cost effective (we effectively take the £70 hit). For that reason we have now amended the concession so that only those players who have a loyalty KO level of cruiserweight or higher will be able to enjoy the juice free option. For those players that are cruiserweight or higher you will continue to be able to enjoy the juice free buy in. If you haven’t got a loyalty level of cruiserweight or above, this should be relatively easy for regular poker players to achieve and amounts to raking just under $300 in a calendar month. Upon doing this you will be elevated to cruiserweight the beginning of the next calendar month and will stay there until a time that you do not rake this amount in a calendar month. If you have raked $300 in a month and need to buy in before the system has elevated you on the first of the next month then let me know upon raking the required amount and I’ll ensure you can take advantage of the juice free offer. If you prefer to buy in online but will not likely generate the necessary amount to get to Cruiserweight then you can still buy in for £1000 + £70 for any of the GUKPT main events directly via our poker client in the tournaments section (easiest to sort by buy in and they will show at the top) Sorry that this hasn’t been relayed to you sooner and hasn’t previously been displayed on the site, should you have any queries whatsoever regarding KO loyalty levels or anything else in relation to this you are welcome to direct them to me personally. Kind regards Peter Stagles Sportsbook & Poker VIP Manager @: peter.stagles@rankinteractive.com Title: Re: GUKPT Walsall Live Update and thread Post by: smashedagain on April 27, 2011, 10:41:52 PM Juice free is still available, u just have to rake a bit to get to the right VIP level to qualify for that privalege (u can still buy in paying juice online tho). We have a prop bet that we must wear suits until we finish in the top three of a tournament. This could be the start of a long run... Title: Re: GUKPT Walsall Live Update and thread Post by: bobAlike on April 29, 2011, 05:01:26 AM Just chopped the 6 max 4 handed for 3k. :)
