Good offer, IF you are allowed any kind of decent bet. Dsnt actually say a limit on refund which is good.

Hate this statement though:

- Any attempts to manipulate or abuse the bonus will not be tolerated and will lead to immediate exclusion from this and future Sky Bet promotions

Nice amount of wriggle room, basically bet too much on something that could be an arb and they might shaft you.

I mean how on earth do they know if you are abusing the promotion??

Just had a look at the markets though and this offer cld be an excuse to go worst price on most markets. So no arbs!

Dont mean to be so negative tighty, so apologies for being so cynical, nice to see some moneyback specials.

Personally i'd be looking at something like messi fgs -as 4-1 isn't a terrible price.

Paddys refund if barca win in 90 mins is pretty good too altho just up to 100.

Sky Bet have got pretty high limits going on the 'offer eligible' markets.

The value is in the Correct Scores though rather than goalscorer stuff (you can work out what the prices should be off Betfair midpoints) - particularly on Messi FGS - given that he doesn't score first he's very unlikely to then score anytime (he's 6 to score first on Betfair which sounds about right). Think this is the betting opportunity of the season and people should be looking to get as much as they can on this.

Well yeah he's 6.0 (5-1) on betfair to score first, after comish thats about 4.75-1 which means with the added offer of messi or rooney scoring anytime, 4-1 is cert fair.

Also disagree that if messi dsnt score first he's very unlikely to score anytime, nothing is unlikely with this special player.

The correct score prices bar one or two are way off what u can get at betfair and elsewhere.

And seriously ppl should exercise caution b4 doing this as books often enjoy pulling the rug out tactics afterwards-as in the quote i highlighted in above post.

Thus if ppl arb on this they are playing a very risky business, esp if for very large sums.

Agree its a good offer tho, just wldnt go insane! :)

Title: Re: The Champions League final, what do you think?
Post by: Nico29 on May 26, 2011, 06:48:39 PM
Goals quote is 2.37, meaning if Messi doesn't score first, goals for Messi to score anytime in are 1.37. Given that Barca aren't even in for all of those (they're favoured by 0.5ish atm), he's very odds against to score anytime given not scoring first, about 4.5 imo. Obviously you've got the Rooney anytime as well, which I make about 4.25 ish anytime. So it's about 2.5ish give or take that either of them score given Messi not first. Makes Messi fgs about 3/1 which I guess is pretty good, although I do think there's definitely more value in the CSs - and if you're backing those you're obviously doubly-exposed to Messi not scoring if you go on FGS as well.

I agree that there should be some caution but Sky Bet are a fairly reputable bookie and they've outlined in quite a few places that there are no limits to this (Facebook page, talking to CS).

Have ended up getting on most of the Correct Scores, make most of them +EV given the offer, may or may not hedge against them on Betfair; in it mostly for the +EV rather than the arb opportunity.

Like yr thinking and sums and having looked a bit more at the correct scores i'm thinking again about getting involved. :)

Still will be bkng messi fgs fairly large with both pads and sky tho.

I hope skybet honur the offer properly, i just wldnt bet big on it.

Those with clean accounts shld be fine, i guess those like me only have previous history to be bitter about.

Any bets i do shall be for betting puropses strictly not arbs.

I dont think they are moany - i think they are enlightening!

I am starting to learn how dodgy book makers are. I once got bummed on a bet - but it wasnt worth my time and effort to be bothered about the knock

But it seems that its fairly rife - and I was astounded to hear recently (on here) that legally it is considered a "gentlemens bet". And as far as I am concerned if its a "gentlemens bet" and not legally enforceable - i wont be betting very often.

eg. - I fancy a punt on something, so I go long - it comes in - booky tells me it was mispriced and doesnt pay. Well I didnt know it was mispriced - i just lke the fact it had a pink hat on and was 100/1! So pay me my money!

Im pretty sure that the camel would have a story or 2 ...................... especially for this thread

It's perfectly legitimate for bookies to palp bets if they inform you before hand, not legitimate (though legal) to let the bet run and then void it when it wins. A palp can easily be justified and warranted if the bookie was clearly miles longer than the rest of the market, e.g. if the horse was 10/1 elsewhere.

A potential reneging on the refunds is a completely different situation given they haven't really accounted for that possibility in the T+Cs, especially when they have explicitly said there are no limits on the offer! This is all speculation though and the odds that Sky Bet do renege are pretty slim.

Honestly i agree with yr points and approve of your morals, but if you think it dsnt go on then you are clearly living in cloud cuckoo land mate.

Don't mean to be rude, obv palp's are fair play-human error and all that, what is annoying is when they consistently-skybet are nowhere near the worst in this regards- take a bet fairly and then cry foul afterwards, when if it had lost nothing would have been said-that in my opinion is daylight robbery. Anyway i'm drifting off again and may need to delete such whinging as it tilts me when i revisit the thread!

Bet 365 now going with this

'Place a pre-match bet on the Champions League final and we will give you a free In-Play bet to the same stake on the big match.

Simply place a bet before kick-off, then once the game starts place another bet on any In-Play market. If your FIRST In-Play bet loses we will refund this stake, up to the value of your largest pre-match bet (up to £50*).'

So for example if I bet £50 on Barca at evens pre match then £50 as soon as the game starts at evens I'm effectively getting Barca at 2/1?

The world of palps is conducted entirely fairly in most cases, you should only bet with IBAS affiliated bookies so you have options if you disagree with a bet settlement - bookies are voluntarily tied to the IBAS ruling in any particular case.

Its a 2 way street though, people just steam in backing clearly incorrect lines, angle shooting all over the place for relatively tiny amounts, they are rude and agressive, then they moan their bag off because they can't get a bet on.  If you know a line is clearly wrong don't be the nob who puts a load of money on, contact the bookie and tell them, you're more likely to get a free bet or something out it.

Also you never here about the free money handed out in acts of fairness to many many punters and i'm talking about large amounts.

Big high street UK bookies are on the whole perfectly honourable, they may limit your betting amount if you're shrewd or a twat but thats just business.

Both deals V.V good.

I'm going with Paddy power tho.

My book is: 4 scorecasts

£12 on Hernandez 1-0 @ 50/1
£4 on Vidic 1-0 @ 150/1
£1  on Rooney 1-0 @ 50/1
£4  on Messi 3-1 @ 50/1

I'm a bit confused.

I read this as

You bet £50 pre-match so can bet £50 in play as well.

that part is fine

But "If your FIRST In-Play bet loses we will refund this stake, up to the value of your largest pre-match bet (up to £50*)"

So, they will even give you the £50 they gave you to begin with back if it doesn't win?

surely the refund is on the original bet not the inplay

Backing a Barcelona win scorecast at Paddy Power is horrible.

Why??? If Barca still win but my scorecast is incorrect I still get a refund?

Scorecasts are generally mug bets anyway but quite fun and with the added value of a refund should Barca win its good to have a stab

We have a decent chance, probably a better chance than the odds currently offered too.

I very rarely bet on football, and it's even rarer that I bet on games involving United, but I've had a cheeky bet on a United win with Peterborough to win their play-off to make a weekend for the Ferguson clan to remember. I added Reading into the bet too for shitzngiggles

Somehow I'm also getting the new members bonus even though I'm 99.9% sure I opened an account for the world cup, when I rang they said I didn't have an account, binkkkkkkk.

Ew (first 5 1/3 odds with sky) means if that if yr selection scores at anytime in the first 5 goals of the game then you will also win the place part, so if they score first you win both the win part and the place parts of the bet.

If say they don't score first but score 2nd you lose the win part but get 1/5 the odds on the place part plus yr place return. For example 5 quid ew on messi@4-1 to score first, and he end up scoring second returns 9 quid.

Bit complicated explanation sorry!

With the bet365 offer, put 50 on Barca at evens to get 100 bk, then put another 50 on in running to get another 100 bk, if you win you get 200 if you lose you lose 50 as the in running bet is refunded if you lose, thus your getting 3/1 not 2/1 ??

Yeah, it's incred..(unless I'm a complete idiot and miscalc'ed as well) I thought the same.

It's a must bet IMO. (Obv the B365 offer doesn't just go if Barca wins but goes for every market..it's very tasty indeed)

It's effectively £50 at 2/1 Ray - still a great offer.  You are effectively staking £50 to make a £100 profit - you get £200 less £100 stake, 2 x £50.

Still a must bet IMO

At least they don't have a long trip home...

Man U fans come from Hampshire, Kent, Surrey and Wiltshire. Most of them will be home already.

I was supporting United tonight (I believe in supporting English sides in Europe) but couldn't help but admiring Barca. If ever a side deserved to be the European (might as well be World) champions this is the side. A fantasitc team to watch and dominate a game, I am not one to give in to hyperbole but they are the best team I have ever seen play football.

With the bet365 offer, put 50 on Barca at evens to get 100 bk, then put another 50 on in running to get another 100 bk, if you win you get 200 if you lose you lose 50 as the in running bet is refunded if you lose, thus your getting 3/1 not 2/1 ??

It's effectively £50 at 2/1 Ray - still a great offer.  You are effectively staking £50 to make a £100 profit - you get £200 less £100 stake, 2 x £50.

Still a must bet IMO

How ? If you won you got £200 if you lost you lost £50 so it's 3/1 ?? You get one of the £50 stakes back.

They really are just too good, have you ever seen a game where Man U had 2 shots on target, Arsenal had none, they are on another level.

Because your total stake is £100. In running stake only refunded if bet loses.

Barcelona really make it the beautiful game.

I think Man U made mistakes but it seems to be accepted that no team or tactics could have won tonight so maybe they won't look at it unless they meet again soon.

They destroyed Madrid 5-0 earlier this season so am slightly shocked with all the "best team there has ever been" shouts coming out now. They've not exactly been hiding their talents.
Suppose beating the English champions in England is special but I wasn't surprised that it happened but I was in awe when they smashed Madrid.

placed 4 correct score bets. Paid out the winner, but no refunds on the other 3 yet.
If they want to "check accounts first".... guess it could be Tuesday for refunds to hit given the bank hol weekend.

This might be controversial but......I dont really enjoy Barca games and didnt enjoy the final.

Barca are a quality team obv, I love the way they move the ball around, I appreciate the passing and movement of their team, as an individual team they are a joy to watch.....but how good can a game really be when 1 team has 70% of the possession and are completely dominating the game? Games are much more exciting when possession is much more balanced and both teams are going for it.  I kinda just felt sorry for Man U last night because they couldnt get near the ball to get possession to try to get into the game.

Anyone know if this sounds right ?

Rang Bet365 planning to put £100 bonus balance on Swansea today but was told on the phone if I put the bet on it would come from my withdrawable balance not the bonus balance first, anyone know if that's right ? I thought it would come from bonus balance first, sigh that I faded it but still wondering if this is right.

Think it is pretty standard. Always been the case with me. Victor Chandler is the only one i have seen where you can actually select your seperate bonus balance to bet with.
