Title: Weekend footie
Post by: boldie on August 20, 2011, 10:05:06 AM
Is it just me or are there a few teams priced bigger than they should be?

Derby 17-20 (VC) to beat Doncaster

Charlton 4-5 to beat Scunthorpe

southampton 5-6 to beat Millwall

All home teams, all with a 100% record. The first two up against clubs who haven't done a lot yet and S'ton look to be genuine title contenders this season.

I will probably also take on Arsenal, just haven't decided how yet..Liverpool draw no bet is 11-10

What is everyone else going for?

I like the Derby bet, evens on Betfair

Backed them midweek against Blackpool as i thought they were overpriced. Think they will do pretty well this year. Jason Shackell is a great signing from Barnsley.

Evens seems a very good price against a Doncaster team who are struggling with injuries.

hmmmmmm... i have always followed the rule of not betting until 5-6 games in to season - too much crazy shit happens early on and form not established.
having said that i like Liverpool at Arsenal today.

I have Donny on my mind too.  Market is priced on basis of league table but that doesn't tell story of either teams season so far.  Donny had three very hard games and have been a bit unlucky not to get something out of them especially at Brighton and stats seem to show they were better side in other two games too.  Obviously have plenty of injuries but no new ones since Tuesday night and they are slowly starting to get players back.  I think 4/1 with ladbrokes and paddy power is cracking value.  My initial tissue was 11/4 Donny.

Arsenal are at 2.56 now, but think they are  value if they drift  again.

Don't think Doncaster's results don't reflect their play so far, (3 v.close games which could've gone either way) and they are likely to be  overpriced - though with Derby now  at 2.2, it looks like  that  is mostly factored in.

Southampton at 1.9 look ok value.

Will probs have a bit on Arsenal, Derby and Southampton for interest.

I don't think Leeds should ever be more than 3/1 in a game in this division. So I am going for 7/2 Leeds away to West ham.

don't like derby, quite like donny today

We played Forest off the park in midweek and our recent record at Pride Park is decent if IRC, although we are missing our hitmen.. so I really think we are akin to Liqourice Allsorts, any result is possible and its a steer clear job for getting involved. That said i'll edge towards the draw, nils each!

Like the side but surely that price isn't an Asian line?  is it a tie loser line?  You should be able to get slightly better.  I have layed Chelsea @ 1.31.....fairly simple case of overrated side v underrated side for me.

lamps looks awful so far this season, mikel isnt very good, torres doesnt want to be on the pitch. West brom very different proposition this season. Expect an onslaught this half but still think the baggies could nick one on the break.

Was more thinking of the +1.5 Asian line on Betfair.....think it was 1.96 or so...although Betdaq normally better for Asian lines because SBO and Singbet put some volume through them and obv no PC.

Stoke's away form last year wasn't good.
Promoted team first game at home is worth a bit.... Norwich for me.

Also laying West Ham as they look too short at 1.6.

I have backed West Ham @ 8/11 but it is getting a bit ridic now.  Other bets for me today is Boro@ 11/10 and Man City -1 @ 12/5 (tie loser)

need boro for my preston, mkdons, boro treble.

only other bet today is small leeds @ 5/1 and small ht/ft leeds at 10s

wanted to play over 2.5 in this game but wanted 5/6ish so left that. GL all

Yesterday me and my mates were in the pub prior to the Forest game watching Arsenal v Liverpool. Without looking at the team line ups we had a £10 bet on Suarez 1st goal. I placed on my Sky Bet account and my two mates went into the Ladbrokes outside the ground and filled their respective betting slips out.

Obviously 1st goal was OG and and Suarez scored the 2nd. To be frank none of us knew what the ruling was and when we went into Laddies they refused to pay out. With the Forest game about to kick off and not being sure we left if alone and accepted the decision. This morning I have looked at my Sky Bet account and they have paid out (yippee!).

My question is should my mates have been paid or have SKY Bet just been generous?

Title: Re: Weekend footie

Own goals do not count for first scorer markets so they should pay out.

Cheers- will give my mates a ring and I hope they have kept their betting slips!

If they haven't they should still go down the shop and demand to speak to the manager and tell him what happened.

Should be able to locate their bets on the system and have a serious word with whoever was working at the time.

Title: Re: Weekend footie
Post by: redarmi on August 21, 2011, 09:13:52 PM
Yep - I used to work for Ladbrokes and your bet is a winner.  Be very insistent though and tell them that you will be calling HQ if they won't pay.  It is a fairly well known scam for some fraudulent betting shop staff to pay themselves the winnings in cases like this when the average punter thinks his bet is a loser or a result changes through stewards etc.

On another note because of this rule it is always better to bet on no goalscorer if you fancy no goals in a game rather than 0-0.  Is same price but No goalscorer is winner if only goal in game is an own goal.

FWIW I have copied and pasted Ladbrokes rule here for your info:

First goalscorer

Stakes are refunded on any player who takes no part in the match or who comes on as substitute after the first goal has been scored. Own goals do not count for first goalscorer purposes and are ignored for settlement purposes. On some matches the first goalscorer betting may be limited to one specific team.

Head-to-head

    * Tottenham have failed to win any of their last 24 meetings with Manchester United in all competitions.
    * Spurs' last victory over United was a 3-1 success in May 2001 at White Hart Lane. They have failed to win any of the subsequent 20 league matches, two FA Cup ties and two League Cup games.
    * It's 22 years since Spurs last won at Old Trafford - a 1-0 victory in December 1989 courtesy of a Gary Lineker goal.

Thanks guys for your feedback. At the time we were told that the bet didn't stand as it was registered as a NO GOALSCORER bet. My mates have rung Laddies and whilst they had chucked the betting slip they told them the shop they placed the bet on and Ladbrokes have agreed to pay out! Really pleased I put the post on as it is £60 back for them so thanks again!

I'll put this out there but make of it what you will.

Scunthorpe play Newcastle tonight in the Carling cup.

I'm interested in the corner count.  I saw Scunthorpe last tuesday lose at hom to Oldham 1-2, but they won the corner count 7-0.

They then played away at Charlton on sat and won the corner count 12-2.  So 19-2 over the last 2 games.

They are 9/4 to have more corners than Newcastle tonight, I think at a tight ground like Glanford Park with the pace on the wings that Scunny play its a good bet, barhcam on the left and Duffy on the right.

Also like the 10/11 for them to have +4.5 corners.

9/4 with bet365, low as 6/4 with Paddy.
