Dont even know WTF oyster is, I probably only use the tube about twice a year anyway.

You can cash it back in at the end of the day, or keep it for life if you want.

if you want to really moan don't get it from a valet, go and buy your drink from a bar then check the receipt. they'll still add service charge to the price. empire sucks

i go to london maybe twice a year ans i sure do pay £4for the tube. oyster ftw. lives in my wallet until i need it.

Bet if you did a poll of those who live outside of London or haven't lived there for a while the majority wouldn't know about oyster.

I knew about it but have never bothered to get one.

Oyster card is what the used in the bill to track suspects or miss pers

I have bought about nine of the bloody things this year...everytime i go back down I seem to forget mine so buy another.  Must have about £100 of prepay credit on them at home.

no doubt. I haven't lived there, but my brother does (hence why I know about it), and ofc TfL have abs zero incentive to advertise it to tourists..

I've got one which automatically tops up from your debit card once it goes below a certain level - I'm not certain but I think if you lose it they charge a replacement cost but they can transfer the credit from your lost one to your new one (because it's registered with them).

This thread is confirmation that London is just too complicated for out-of-towners.

I used to live in London, Oyster card can suck it, as can buses, occasionally over ground trains but mainly used to just pay out my ass for a taxi and sit in traffic. Was immense tho. Just how i roll. [  ] i am a nit.

If your going with your mrs, the Westfield centre is a pretty good place for shopping. Just popped in this morning and thought it was quite smart actually.
