WORLD POKER TOUR® ANNOUNCES WPT NATIONAL MARBELLA POKER FESTIVAL FROM 19th - 27th APRIL 2012

London (February 3, 2011) – World Poker Tour is excited to reveal dates for the inaugural WPT National Marbella Poker Festival which will be taking place from 19 – 27 April 2012 at the Casino Marbella, in lively Puerto Banus on the Costa del Sol, Spain. The WPT National Marbella Main Event, sponsored by PartyPoker.com, will run from 20 - 24 April will be the central feature of the festival.  The televised Main Event will be for Spanish distribution and Final Table will also be available to watch via live stream on PartyPoker blog.


WPT National Marbella, as the third European National event to be held in 2012, offers players the prestige of playing a WPT calibre event, with an accessible buy-in of €1500 + €150. Players can also rely on the WPT expertise which offers a unique national structure designed by internationally renowned tournament director Matt Savage. As part of the festival there will also be a wide range of side events and cash games with buy-ins suitable for players at all levels across the ten days. lets get a blonde villa, or a few next to each other, huge parties at the villa, sunbathing, pools, drinks, banter etc.

Would be so good to get like 20 of us in lots of villas, you can use the hotel stuff anyway in Marbella, I stayed there a few months ago.

The hotel is about 10-15 mins walk from nightlife which is really good too.

I was thinking this actually. Seems a bit low budget and can't do the brand any good at all.

Should be $5k minimum really.

The sentiment is still the same though, a 150 runner €5k tournament in Venice is a bit of a joke

WPT Nationals are designed to cater for local markets, and players that are not rolled for the larger fully branded WPT events. Saying it de-values the brand is like saying a UKIPT (or any of the GPT National series) de-values the EPT!

In the USA they are branded as "Regional" events, and carry buy ins even lower than the European Nationals.

Well it devalued it for me until it was explained.

UKIPT has a totally different name to EPT so the difference is easier to spot.

It clashes with the EPT Berlin and the Grand Final, so a $5k buy in would probably be a mistake regardless of the title

Leo Margets Commits to the Upcoming WPT National Marbella Poker Festival

17 February 2012 – Spain’s much-loved star poker player, Leo Margets has announced her commitment to the eagerly anticipated WPT National Marbella Poker Festival, buying-in to the tournament’s Main Event, which starts on April 20, 2012.

This is the first time that the former WSOP ‘last woman standing’ has played in a tournament on the Costa del Sol, making her participation in the festival that much more exciting and notable.

Just been watching the live stream and PLinton doesn't seem to be 100% focused.  Keeps turning round and talking to the rail.  He plays his best poker when he's focused imo.

Well that's just not true at all. He isn't aloud to speak to the rail as the TD has disallowed this. He's more focused then I've ever seen him before imo. Playing really well and avoiding the blow up nicely.

Whilst this was going on Tom High sneaked into the final side event under the radar...none of us were gonna play it cos we wanted to go out on the last night, but he was determined to continue the record and get someone on the final for every event of the trip - and he did! He came 6th so we are leaving tomorrow an extremely happy bunch.

Excellent series, we will defo keep it on the 'tour' for next year for sure - loved it.
