Title: Finally a RSQ worth winning (£5,000 prize gtd by Rob Yong sort of)
Post by: smashedagain on March 29, 2012, 10:02:21 AM
Ffs. Just spent an hour doing the rules and the battery just died on the laptop.

1. Today i shall be setting 12 questions. you are required to answer them all as i have gone to the bother of thinking up 12 the least you can do is answer all 12.

2. PM me your answers by Noon on Tuesday 3rd April.

3.Your score for each question is the number of people who give the same correct answer. The answer most commonly given is called the sheep, with the corresponding sheep score.  If you score an ACE (an ace being a correct answer which no-one else submits) in any round, you will receive  1 point for that round.

4.You are not allowed to do research such as Google searches to come up with answers, and you are not allowed to ask others for help with your answers.  Remember, you are only cheating yourself (and your illustrious peers).

5.The lowest aggregate score after 12 round will be declared the winner. In the event of a tie the person with the most aces will be declared the winner.

6.If you give an incorrect answer, you will receive the sheep score + 5 points

7.Objections will be considered and debated by all players who actually give a toss as  is in keeping with the rules. All arguements both for and against the answer will be considered by myself and the panel but our decision will be final and respected.

8.HOWEVER to make my life easier at 8pm on Tuesday 3rd of April i will  reveal all the possible answers given  (but not by whom) and then will open the floor up for people to discuss the answers for a period of 72 hours. That will take us to 8pm friday 6th giving me plenty of time to sort out all the answers and results for the TRUE reveal on TUESDAY 10th of APRIL at 8pm.

I anticipate that due to the excellent prize on offer many people will be pushing the boundaries as far as possible to hit those aces and really do hope we have a few heated debates during the 72 hours of objections.

9. Playing your Joker cards. If like me you sometimes see peoples answers and think "you anal git" then help is now at hand. Each player having seen the answers and the 72 hour debate then will pm me one answer from each of the 12 questions as their "anal git" answers By 8pm Saturday 7th(24 hours later). Each answer that is voted the most popular "anal git" will be treated as a wrong answer and be given the sheep answer +5 points.

I am hoping that the anal git part of the quiz adds a new dynamic to the game and appreciate that you are having to send 2 pms but you dont have to wait for the 72 hour debate and can just send them when you want as long as its before 8 pm Saturday 7th.

so timetable re-cap

now tillTuesday 3rd at noon............................... PM'd me your 12 answers

Tuesday 3rd 8pm till Friday 6th 8pm.................... Debate objections

Tuesday 3rd 8pm till Saturday 7th 8pm................ Send 12 anal gits, 1 from each question

right here we go again.

So after months of coming 2nd (in before the wife) i messed up big time last week and actually won the RSQ. What a nightmare this is already.

Guy has tried to help me by sending me his spreadsheet from last week but tbh i dont think its gonna be much use because i think i am going to ask different questions to him, probably get different people entering and giving different answers so using his scores are gonna be way off the mark (i cant take the chance on ever winning this again).

Due to my sick IT skills i feel that the reveal may be a total Farce lasting many days or even weeks so i am going to have to implement some rule changes. To compensate for the deviation from the norm those who agree to the changes become elligable for the prize. Those that dont agree can not win the prize but can continue to take part and object to their hearts content but in all honesty will probably be ignored.

Ok about the prize. I am jealous of Rob chucking around these £1million gtd prizes at will so i fancied a go at being Billy big Bucks this week. I sat down with Simon and Nick to discuss Dtd putting up the £5k prize for this as a goodwill gesture. They said "GTFO and how the hell did you get in our office" so it looks like its just down to me and Rob again. You all know that Rob has already gtd the UKIPT at £1 million but here is the thing. He aint actually gonna give you anything because this event is gonna hit the required runners and if it does not i would valet in Dtd in a skirt for a full shift in high heels.

However hope is not lost ;starwars; and the £5,000 is going to come out of my pocket. The kind live players at dtd were kind enough to gift me a seat into the UKIPT at the first live satellite so i am in for next to nothing. After my wife takes her 50%, chippyman (aka frankie) gets is 10% swop and i pay all my debts off i am left with a spare 2.5% which i am gonna give upto the quiz winner. This will amount to a very tasty £5,000 from the £200k first prize that i am going to win.

Yes thats right you are in the running to get a 2.5% freeroll in the ukipt. Now i can hear you all crying "this guy has kids to feed, how can he be so generous, he is just giving money away, what a complete idiot, thats gotta be one of the worst decisions ever and that has to be themost -ev  decision  ever." You are all obv right but please let me explain why i am being so stupid............. I actually like Frankie a lot swop with him to get some run good. :)

so there you have it. you are to allow me some rule changes in return for the added prize.

God this has taken all morning and now have to go pick up the twins from the nursery.

You did not really expect the questions and rules as well did you. will try to get em done this afternoon. i know the rule changes but aint actually thought of any questions yet.

was gonna spell check but could nottake the chance of losing all this again

8 is a complete copout. Part of the QM responsibility is to deal with objections on the night, with a serviceable spreadsheet, in a timely fashion

The whole name of the game is to get the most obscure answers! It is a skill, not something that should be penalised by those only capable of more humdrum answers voting against them

I am out, in high dudgeon

FARCE!

FARCE!
how sure are you that its a skill. i messed up last week passing the scrabble question and thought Wigan still played at the JJB. Just because you are going for the tenth RSQ win does not mean its skill. us young kids think you old boys are far too results orientated. :)

Atm you are in equal 2nd place with Dmorgan. Thats bound to change when folks start using their anal git cards :)

11. Name a member of DTD staff who is not a regular dealer

When I set one of these (which will be never), I'm going to ask the name of someone who works in a shop in Portsmouth so only locals or people who go there regularly will know.

my mistake MintTrav. i naturally assumed most people would know at least a few of the staff at DTD. they spam facebook, twitter, emails etc etc as well as posting on here. i am gonna have to leave it up now as entries are flooding in.

take it from me. running one of these things aint even worth the £5 grand

yes first names ok Guy. tbh mate i have just gone past the point of even caring if its right or wrong. trying to do this in the garden watching the kids and just managed to trap my finger in the patio doors and dropped the laptop.

7. Name a country to win the world cup

What does that mean? It reads like you are asking for a country that will win the World Cup - how are you going to decide what is an incorrect answer? Or did you mean a country that has already won it?
Any sport, obv, as none is mentioned.

seriously, why would you do this? the whole point of these is to make it as awkward as possible for the person running it. now he's specified football you've removed a major part of the farce from the quiz

Look lads. There is no need to stick out your leg to trip up a man who is already falling.

i'm not a dictator and still open to having my anal git cards reduced. if you wanna only make it less cards per entrant instead of 12 i am happy to debate it. Not only have i had some anal answers already but have also had multiple duplicates.

right here we go again.

Who would know about chocolate if they did not eat it and you don't hear the ladies complaining about the male dominated quizes involving football and cars do we.

Hard with the men, soft with the ladies innit.

I need some advice/ guidance on a few of the answers too but will leave that until tomorrow night.

Also it's been suggested that we limit people's "anal git" votes to just 1 answer total and not 12 answers (one from each question). The suggestion came from an anal git but will leave it upto the majority of players.

So what do we do now?
1.Debate/object to any of the answers at your will either on the thread or anon by pm and I will post as anon. Until Friday 8 pm.
2. Justify why you think a particular answer is correct once again itt or anon by Friday 8pm.
3. Submit by pm 1 answer from each question you think "oh you anal git" and then the most anal git answer from each question will be scored a wrong answer (still open to suggestions debate).

Then I have next weekend to sort out how to do the scores for the reveal  next Tuesday .

Some people will think that they are out of the running with their wrong answers but by cleverly using anal gits answers they can get right back in it

I actually meant the hare and rabbit answers are whales, not sheep!

A whale occurs when two different answers are similar enough to be considered as the same answer. For example if someone had answered the DTD question with Rob, and someone else had gone for Mr Yong - they would be whales. It's called a whale because in an early RSQ different types of whale were given as the answer to a question to name an aquatic mammal, and they were all grouped together as the same answer.

With the hare and rabbit, the Chinese character used refers to either, so they're whales (so to speak).

Snakes and Ladders can't be described as a Waddington's game. Originated in India 500 years ago, some time before Waddington's got their hands on it.
Likewise Monopoly - which was a Parker's game originally.

The Question is name a deadly sin, NOT the currently recognised version:

In the order used by both Pope Gregory and by Dante Alighieri in his epic poem The Divine Comedy, the seven deadly sins are as follows:

    luxuria (lechery/lust)
    gula (gluttony)
    avaritia (avarice/greed)
    acedia (acedia/discouragement/sloth)
    ira (wrath)
    invidia (envy)
    superbia (pride)

I have had a quick look at the answers again and possible scores had it been an ordinary RSQ.

Sonny Liston died in 1970 and Joe Bugners last fight was 1976 so obv were not champs in the last 30 years. A bit suprised that TightEnd and Kinboshi never picked up on this.

Taxi that's a very good point and looks fine to me. Don't know if any of the original objectors would like to add anything so if they ain't responded by Friday 8pm then am prepared to let it stand ;)

Not that we can understand Irene - but she is actually right.

Joe Bugner did fight Frank Bruno in 1987.

Joe Bugner was also a Heavyweight Champion in 1998. He won the minor WBF Heavyweight Championship and you didn't specify that it had to be one of the 4 majors.

Oh, and my source is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Bugner#1990s

Taxi that's a very good point and looks fine to me. Don't know if any of the original objectors would like to add anything so if they ain't responded by Friday 8pm then am prepared to let it stand ;)

36 hours to get your anal git entries in. Don't want to give too much away but the two biggest anal gits are leading the quiz atm and that's the nut worst outcome for me. I would have to consider not turning up to the ukipt and get blinded away rather than present them with a little red bag with 100 nifty pound notes in it :)

What a total nightmare being Quiz master for an Rsq is for someone who is a technophobe like me. Gone through reams of paper and about 7 bookies pens already.

Halfway through the marking the Rsq part and the scores are really close. 8 points covers 2/3's of the field. Considering that an anal git answer adds a minimum of 8 points per question to the anal gits score then this can all change. Been asked if i will take late entrants for anal git answers and probably will because i allowed a late entrant for the quiz. A few of you never submitted them but that does not matter if you would rather not.

Dont let an anal git win this please

You are defiantly in  with a shout. People sending me p.m.'s changing their answers is messing up the scoring tho.

I got that spread sheet but the I phone does not let me delete your stuff so all done by hand

Got the first 6 answers and scores after 3 n 6 questions saved on my phone and just ready to hit send but the iPhone only lets you have 8 Internet pages open at once

Borrowing the sons laptop to do the interaction tonight but it's fecked. You can only open 1 page and the wifi button is in your croutch area so I keep turning it off by accident

You just don't know how tempted I and to just send em all now. Dreading losing it all. Had the bright idea to send em to the wife as messages then copy n paste em tonight but then it never reproduced the smileys and pics. Posted the reveals by accident then quickly had to delete em numerous times. I ain't exaggerating when I say I have been typing the reveal out for in excess of 24 hours solid.

Wife's at work and I have 5 kids between 3 and 8 to entertain till bath time at 7 then I have an hour to type the last 6 answers up

Hey tighty all those times you tried to teach me to do photos on here and failed.... Pokerfan says 1 word photo bucket and I even sussed it myself. Only on the phone tho. No idea how you get photos on to my lappy.

Am happy to help at ukipt if I get knocked out before my mate. Would get some proper valet photos for you ;)

Yep your in mate. Was a bit easy having seen the answers.

@ tighty.........woooooooosh

@ Taximan , I am trying to un register for the ukipt tomorrow and play Thursday or Friday but it's not looking good. Not the best preperation for the biggest comp of my life after the wsop and Irish open (was the monte Carlo more than a million first prize)

Hold on step sons just got up. Says he can't sleep with all the kids noise going on. Daniel is half man and half matress and has only had 13 hours sleep last night. Try walking an hour in my shoes son. Had to watch game of thrones at at 12.10am because the wife insisted on watching "obese. A year to save my life" because I was playing a tourney tighty set up so got into bed about 1.30am and the first twin was smacking my arse to move up at 4.30am.

But the good news is he has shown me how to open another page on his lap top so if I get a few hours this afternoon I can crack on with the last 6 answers.

Please go easy on me tonight.

No advantage at all

ok these are the provisional standings after 12 rounds which will be wrong as i worked em out last Friday and also we need to add some anal git scores to some folks

22 points - Kinboshi
24 points - Tighty
30 points - LittleMissC
31 points - Cf
32 points - Taximan
34 points - David3103, Ironside
36 points - Moon&back
37 points - Leefish
38 points - JJ&Ellis
40 points - GIrgy, AdamM
41 points - DMorgan
45 points - Trip5
46 points - MintTrav
47 points - Outrageous
50 points - Istrabraq
52 points - Stribling
54 points - Supernova
56 points - Milligan (had he been on time but his scores did not affect anyone elses. more to give him a sweat)
58 points - MagoganyVic
67 points - Mondatoo

All i can say is thank god my Quiz is not a normal RSQ. Once again its been dominated by the usual suspects but its good to see nice guys  such as LittleMissC, Taximan and David still in with an outside chance once we have added the Anal git scores to the present  RSQ scores

Here are the anal git suggestions from those that submitted them for you to sweat over for a few minutes

1. Ivory Coast, Pakistan
2. Kinder ,Texan
3. Ox (unreal that this was the only answer selected)
4. Davidoff, Dunhill
5. John Pullman, Fred Davis
6. Adultery, Sloth
7. Japan (not suprising it was the only answer given. did try to warn tighty not to defend himself)
8. McLaren, Lincoln
9. Totopoly, Escape from where ever it was
10. Gondala, Taxi, tuk tuk, Jeepney
11. Alicia, Alex
12. Akinwande, herbie hide, Rahman

Congratulations to Leefish and Outrageous for being the only 2 guys who never recieced a nomination

No suprise that Tighty got nominated 8 times or 2 thirds of his answers for anal gits

Shame on half the field that managed to get at least 1 question wrong :)

I would just like to add that Karma is a bitch and i blamed (wrongly) that one of my bans last year was down to having a go at Kinboshi for cheating in the RSQ :)
This was part of the reason i devised the Anal Git Questions.

Utterly pathetic. The whole point of the game is to use brains to think of obscure answers. I wear my anal git nominations as a badge of honour against fuckwits the world over. Goodnight.

So with that in mind here are the scores that have to be added to your RSQ.....and FML the only anal git voted most anal for Kinboshi was bloody McLaren. What the hell is wrong with you people the guy has tee'd up HARE  BLOCKBUSTERS COACH and KRISTINA and left the goal wide open and you all Fecking missed it.

The anal points on the previous page are in order of popularity and even tho he had Pakistan and Herbie Hide (blatant dig at me i might add)  something else nominated got more votes

Once i add the 9 points for Mclaren to his score he Finishes with 31 points. so before we add any other points to anyone that only leaves Tighty 24, LittleMissC 30, Taximan 31 and CF 31 in with a shout.

Tighty got too many points to count
my main hope LittleMissC adds 12 to 30 for OX...ffs everyone put ox and i could not even lie and say one of you put hare
Taximan and cf could have tied and i would have pm'd the tie break answer to either of em the answer but Ivory coast let Taximan down (once again picking pakistan would have lost ift for kinboshi and won it for Taximan)....and bloody gondola let CF down

so all joking aside well played Kinboshi and i suppose i better try win the Ukipt for you tomorrow

Tighty winning was probably the second nut low outcome tbh tony. Funking for a missC or taxi at the end but was not meant to be and my arch rival taught me a lesson about Karma.

IF Breakaway was deemed a wrong answer maybe boshi doesn't win  ;)

Breakaway is a brand of chocolate-covered digestive biscuit from Nestlé, which has been produced since 1970.

Couertesy of Wikipedia (no mention of chocolate bar there then!!!)

He scored 3 for it and an incorrect answer would have been 9 points so adding 6 to his score. Believe me I did work it out but I think his Pakistan answer had to be the anal one too for anyone to stand a chance of beating him. I even asked some Chinese friends about about the hare/rabbit thing. They said "is same ting". "are they hell the same thing" I said. " of course same ting. Hare big fucking rabbit, taste same"
