Because of his sterling community work in East London, and his performance yesterday in the Olympic park run, Gatso has been shortlisted for the team who will carry the Olympic Torch into the Olympic Stadium at the end of the Opening Ceremony

It will provide an opportunity for the world to view the artistic expression of Danny Boyle and his team, and the culture of our Host City and the UK."

Alongside the likes of Sir Steve Redgrave, David Beckham, Dame Kelly Holmes and Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson, gatso is now in the running to be the person who actually lights the Olympic flame. No doubt that is a long shot, but nevertheless is a terrific achievement.

course was measured wrong, was somewhere between 5.1 and 5.2 miles, finished in 31:35 but did 30:43 for 5 miles

rather ridiculously over the first 5k I also took 22 seconds off my 5k pb doing 18:41

winner did 25:11 which I think was equal to the olympic record
