After standard playing for about half an hour there were only about 4 competent players. Villain's calling ranges had been super wide and preflop betting was mainly limped.
Stack sizes are all around the 200-250 mark UTG makes it 5 to go 5 callers Hero on the SB flats Th 7d BB flats [Pot: 40] Hero checks in the dark FLOP: 8s 9h Js BB: leads for 15 UTG: calls for 15 MP: calls for 15 Folds to hero... [Pot: 85] Hero makes it 65 to go BB enters the tank and moves all in for 175 Folds to hero Hero Calls Should we be making it more then 65 to go here? I never normally check in the dark because I don't want to give out a free draw shorthanded, and if i do flop a monster i don't want to miss a bet, but in this situation 8 ways to the flop i couldn't see it being checked all the way round and it gives no information to my hand being first to act. as for post-flop. Chk raising is defo the best play (although don't check in the dark, no reason to ever do that) making it 65 seems about right, you're never bluffing on 89Jss but you could have some decent semi-bluffs so it's tough for people to get away from top pair. I dont want to be picky, but I always hear this justification for chking in the dark and it's complete nonsense, you give no information away by calling from the SB and chking a 89Jss flop, you can still have T7, 88, 99, J9, A3ss all of these you would check, but one time in a hundred betting might DEFO be the best play even 8handed so all you've done by chking in the dark is just ruin that opportunity for yourself. there really is just no need lol Title: Re: Gala 50/1 Post by: PeeJay on April 03, 2012, 12:46:01 AM fold pre mate.
