£500,000 Guaranteed 'MEGA SIZED' £500 Deepstack

The first of our new ‘MEGA SIZED’ £500 Deepstacks takes place over 5 days between Thursday 30th August and Monday 3rd September, with 3 days of play.

We’re ‘megasizing’ the prizepool to £500,000 guaranteed – £50,000 more than the combined guarantees of three of our regular monthly £500 Deepstacks.

The event will use the WSOP Main Event blind and ante structure, a 40 minute clock throughout and the starting stack will increase to 50,000 chips.

Day 1a             Thursday August 30th              2. pm           333 cap

Day 1b             Friday August 31st                     2 pm       333 cap

Day 1c             Saturday September 1st         2pm            333 cap

Day 2               Sunday September 2nd           2.30pm

The plan is to introduce the new MEGA SIZED £500 event and hold it every 3 months, with live and online satellites leading up to the events. Satellite details will be confirmed and up on the Dusk Till Dawn website next week.

As exciting as the £500K guarantee is, DTD really do need to stick to something, rather than chopping and chaging constantly.

Put the £300 back in at £100k as the biggie and run the £150's every other week.

The cap is 33 each day, so to round it upto 1000 anyway, 1000x50 = £500k

If DTD does not each it will the guarantee be changed? Also, will there will alternates if days sell out?

Trying to streamline the DTD presence on here, and the info in there duplicates what is posted on the individual threads

I think its a combination, for the time being, of not wanting to put big events on during the summer months when a lot of the travelling pros are in Vegas and just 3 Deepstacks rolled into one really, easier to avoid clashes with all extra events in UK, so might was well just do a big one every few months

In terms of monthly events, DTD are skipping summer 500 cause of Vegas, then relaunching with a biggie. DTD couldn't make a 150k gte in June, never mind July and august.

What happens after the first £500 Mega, in the autumn is still open I would think so the feedback above is useful.

Not keen on the final being on Monday at 2.30pm, people can't guarantee they will get time off work. 
In the past dusk till dawn have focused on quality tournaments and I feel they are moving away form this focusing more on quantity, how many players they can cram in on one weekend with the highest buy in for the shortest clock.  With so many entrants you get few fortunate players and most walk away with a loss, players could lose interest.  Is it not in the best interest of the casino to have several tournaments with fewer players rather than one big tournament so that their losses are more gradual and their interest is not lost.

I don't understand why they moved from  £336 to £550 during a recession anyway. It got a lot of interest when it was first held but the interest has subsided and people cannot afford the increase.  Surely £336 every month is better than £500 every quarter for many reasons.

1) People keep going back out of habit
2) It is easier to find suitable staff if held on a regular basis
3) It does not finish on Monday at 2.30pm

Make a bigger fuss of the winner, put a picture of everyone who wins the big tournaments, people love the fame and will play purely for that.

Also, addressing the point Devil makes above about structures, WSOP Blind structures, long clocks is not exactly "highest buy in for the shortest clock"

The structures of these £500s are universally priased, from what I hear and read.

On a personal level and obv irrespective of EV.

For the recreational player who lives some distance from DTD the idea of a £500 every 3 months with a pretty amazing guarantee is perfect.

Half the entry of a MC for a bigger guarantee, together with an excellent structure - what's to argue with really

£500 a month (plus expenses) for a recreational travelling player with low EV is, imo, not sustainable and i think it makes sense to drop it. I would think you need a good number of travelling players to make the regular monthly £500 work

Not ideal for the pro's but fine for most of us I would think.

In relation to the re-entrees, payouts ect. Sorry if it is long!

Firstly, Re-entry on the same day I reckon is a must. Especially the guys within the 1-3 hour travel bracket, which I'm guessing is 60% of the field.
After busting first bullet, sometimes you just cannot be arsed to drive back the next day or spend money on petrol, hotels etc (see my second point below). But, having the reentry will put more money in the prizepool! Increased numbers and bigger pots as the online qualifiers, distant travellers and others, are more willing build a pot to get it in with a sicko draw, rather than hit first then ship. If they can use a second bullet, they sigh..have a ciggy, sigh again and buy in again.

Secondly, I know its better marketing wise to see £200k/£300k top prize and make the headlines.
But from a customer point of view, for tournaments that are 2-5 days, making only 1.2 on investment is sometimes disappointing. Only as it doesn't cover expenses - Petrol, Hotels, Food, Drinks, and occasional spews on roulette or that stupid Pharaohs Fortune!

People nit up stupidly and ruins the play and momentum of the tournament.. look I know this payment structure is pretty standard across the European board, but this is why play is so slow pre and post bubble. People want to make there money back. For a £500 buy in, I don't see a problem with min cash being £900-£1000. Just chop it off the top. This is general feedback from a majority of non-regular players I have asked. YES, I know the bubble and play before will last longer, but the better players left will take advantage of it, leaving the nitty guys less space later on in the torney. It would give more play from 2 tables to the final. No 3BigBlind limp/fold player on the final and no guy with 9bigs set mining with deuces, who wants to bag his £900 jump up.

Honestly, I am not fused either way. I will adhere to any changes DTD make. But generally, the Non-Regs (unqiue hits) are dropping, causing the total numbers to drop and guarantees to drop and still not be hit. There isn't much money about. It just shows with the tournaments at the moment; £20 comps getting more runners than a super £50. Super £50 sometimes getting more than a £150 DS etc.

Its about general value. And lately, people just don't wona put up the dollar.

Sounds great much better value then gps like the idea of every 3 months gives you time to save for event .

One re-entry on same day works okay and cuts everyones cost.

I would re-enter same day but would not bother travelling back to re-enter,  play next day.

Why do you have to wait 24 hours to re-enter? not worth the hassle to me. let me re-enter whilst i am already there.

Hoping my schedule stays clear so I can play this but would agree with others about having re-entry same day. I am not likely to travel back up the next day for a re-entry but if I bust during late entry period I would re-enter same day.

Definately worth coming out of hiding to play this one :)

Could definately use a concrete decision in the semi near future about re-entry though as it will affect how much I may or may not want to sell.

I agree with above points regarding payouts

DTD keep changing the structures, the buy ins, the clocks almost weekly but they stick to a distorted payout structure which offers very poor value for all but the top few places. If they want to maintain the numbers they must review this imo.

I do like the 50k starting stack and 45/60min clock for the £500 though.

£500 + £60 just make it a little bit easier to hit the guarantee which isn't a bad thing at all.

Apologies for the time taken to make the decision on re-entry for this event but we have been busy with the CPP arrangements. In answer to the questions on here, I can now confirm that we have decided that the September £500 Megasized £500,000 GTE Deepstack will be a FREEZOUT (i.e. with no re-entry either on the day or next day).

Whist there are valid arguments for and against re-entry, the main reason for this decision is that we want the challenge of going for 1000 unique runners for one of our own monthly Deepstacks.

Wouldn't have thought I would say this a month ago as I have been a strong supporter of re entries, however, I am changing my views now. I played this weekends £150 freezout and did notice a difference in game play with one exception. Players knew if they busted that was it, they were gone. The game flowed better and reminded me of how they were prior to the re entry trend.

With freezouts every elimination moves you one closer to the money and the final table etc.

So fickle me is now in favour of freezouts!

If they do return I would hope that the re entry period is vastly reduced to around the first two or three levels and not as they were.

The one exception I mentioned was a guy who blew a quarter of a mil stack from level 12 raising every hand pre flop blind and calling every raise and re raise most of the time blind. I think he was chip leader in the room when he started and an hour later he was out. It took an hour because he kept winning with hands like 5,3 off when he called an all in and hit the three v AK.
I was the only one at the table who didn't get a share as I was card dead for that hour. But there were many grateful players who did grow their stacks. (nice chap though).

The £500 satellite prices have been reduced to €50 as per requests from players, the £500 feeders and satelittes are in BLUE in the lobby, I have had a few players say they cant see them! (the €1000 package satelittes are still prices at €100 tho)

Sorry is this has not been made clear - this £500 mega sized Deepstack event is an "absolute freezout". This means no re-entry on the same Day OR into another Day 1.

As well as questions about the above - I have had a lot of questions about why the hell we would make this No Re-Entry (mainly from pro players).

The ONLY reason is that I have made this decision is to challenge ourselves to get 1000 unique individual players to play our £500 Deepstack - it's quite likely that we will never do this 'Megasize' thing again - the market at this buy-in level is tough tough tough ! But if we could do it once, it would be an amazing feeling for us after 5 years of running our Deepstack. If we get slaughtered, it's 'deserved', because this is a 'punt' by me to get 1000 players, not the DTD Team. I totally understand some of the bigger rolled players would want to take 2 shots + at this, but I feel that re-entry would be cheating this potential accomplishment for DTD, should we actually make the 1000 with re-entries - I don't thing it will feel the same. Look at the last Grand Prix, only 975 individual players, in reality, nothing to write home about, headline number will say 1872 with re-entries, but we all know the truth.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned in the thread already, but what is the online policy for multiple satelitte winners these days? Do we get refunds for multiple seats or reserved for future events or is it best to just leave the satelittes after winning a seat the first time round?

·     Seats cannot be transferred to other players

·     1st winning seats MUST be played in the event quoted in the tournament information box in the online lobby

·     2nd winning seats can be deferred to the next scheduled event OR used within a 4 week period. Please note that seats that are not deferred or used within 5 weeks after the event intended for, they will expire

·     Golden Chips are not valid on duplicate wins or wins that have been transferred

·     Seats can be exchanged for higher buy-in tournaments by paying the difference

·     Seats can be exchanged for lower buy-in tournaments but no change or tournament credits will be given on the difference

·     No refund or cash alternative is available for winning or duplicate winning seats

·    Physical Golden Chips will not be awarded for these tournaments

We put on online satelittes to qualify players for a specific live event and it is integral part of trying to hit our GTE's.

1. Incentivise players to win multiple seats for a specific event, if we put 100 seats online, we want 100 unqiue players in the event
2. Incentivise professional players to use our satelittes to make their wages
3. Incentivise players to play a satelitte when they cannot make the live event
4. Incentivise players  to sell seats to players that would directly buy-in anyway

Of course, sometimes a player may still choose to win 2 seats, even with this non refundable, not transferable policy, in that case, we will allow the player to use the seat value but within a month (in a 5 week month, a player who wins 2 deepstack seats can transfer to next deepstack 5 weeks later of course)

For players that want to win LIVE TOURNEY CREDITS (ie. bank up live credits to play any DTD comps now or in the future) we will be introducing DTD Voucher Online Satelittes, players will be able to use for ANY DTD event with no timeframe to redeem them.

I think this covers all bases and is very fair. We gave 14 seats away for our £200 last night, we definitely want all 20 players in the £200 event this weekend.

Of course, we do expect a significant decrease in our satelitte numbers as a result of this policy change but in the long term, its best for DTD and the target market that satelittes are aimed at.

Might be a silly question but why are the DTD sat entries all euros? I see that there are £ tables in cash so was just wondering why not for the sats?

We need 9 runners at the start to run the satelitte, start time is 8.30PM, please get there for the start time if possible, late reg is 9.15pm but that no good if we don't get 1 table at the start.

Tonight's first club satelitte got 17 runners, so we need 33 to make 3 seats, so players got double the value.

We are running these at the request of local players who prefer playing live or dont have a computer etc, so please support them, any questions, just PM me

We now have 7 days of live satelittes at the Club starting at 9pm every night.

The format for these satellites will be £50 + £6 Limited 2 X Re-Buys, players will receive 5,000 chips at the start and also receive 2 re-buy tokens, 5,000 chips is 100 BB at first level of 25-50.

Levels will be 3 x 30 mins and then 20 mins, with late reg of 60 minutes after the first 2 levels of play.

Players can re-buy up to 2 x 5000 chips at any stage of the first 3 levels, regardless of their chip stack, cost is £50 per 5,000 chips.

This Saturday and Sunday - 10 seats GTE

Monday - Friday - 20 seats GTE

As a minimum, we need to start with 2 tables of 5, therefore we will need 10 runners before 9pm to start the satelitte.

So it £50 for 5k+ £50 for 5k + £50 for 5k = £150 = 15k.

The event will use the WSOP main event blind and ante structure, a 40 minute clock on day 1, and a 60 minute clock on day 2 and 3. The starting stack will also increase to 50,000 chips.

I think (will change if I am incorrect) is 12 40 minute levels day one, which is a finish before midnight

The payout structure only goes up to 224 runners, so isn't relevant for most of the big tournaments that get way more numbers than that.  Can someone confirm what % 1st -9th are likely to get this weekend?

I am back up Monday to commentate, when the intention is to Live stream the whole of Monday's feature table play (however many tables are left ) through to a winner which hopefully should get a lot of viewers.

Is this still the case? Rich posted elsewhere that it was 16 levels day 1 which makes it a much later finish.

Its 16 40 minute levels with a 2.15am finish on each Day 1, this was confirmed today

I opted for 1a on the basis that it was 12 levels, now I'm stuck with that choice and faced with a drive home at 2.30am

I'm really looking forward to tomorrow - so trying not to moan, I have car and lack of sleep ain't end of world. However, the team at DTD should sort, even if it's just the odd person like previous poster who have taken a day off and arranged public transport it's pretty poor.

I can see the post by Nicola saying 12 levels x 40. For sure, she must have got the wrong information from someone (hope it was not me!) as she always double checks any questions like this before posting, I can only assume its some mix up in communication internally.

Never in one million years was this comp only 12 levels on Day 1's, there has been NO CHANGE / DECISION MADE TODAY, this has always been a 36 level comp, 40/60/60 clock, 16-10-10 level format,  it's an error in Nicola's post, sincere apologies. Of course, if anyone is "genuinely financially halmed" due to being mislead by this post - come and see me over the £500 Deepstack and I will compensate you personally.

On a personal note, this comp can be done 16-10-10 or 14-11-11, when me and Simon designed the format, we opted for 16-10-10, 2.15am finish Day 1's, 1.30am finish Day 2 and 3, I personally don't find this a problem for a 3 day event with a great structure and a £500K GTE, I would personally prefer to play deeper on Day 1 and get closer to the money, I don't think that finish time is too late for a one off event like this, but if majority player feedback for the future is that players want to start playing at 12pm or even make the comp 4 days (LOL if we do this event again!), of course, we can make these changes, everything evolves.

Claypole, "I am not trying to moan" HOWEVER "The DTD team should sort this" LOL, nice one pal, keep spreading the positive vibe for this week! :) Seriously, apologies, see me if you have been inconvenienced financially, it's a communication error on this forum on our part, 12 levels would be absolutley impossible to ever be correct.

Guys, please try and keep a positive outlook this week, I am a poker player and I was moaning at the EPT last week about playing 14 hours on day 1 and not being able to get a drink at the break, we are moaners as a speices generally, I get this, but lets take a break this week as this is a brand new challenge for DTD and we don't pretend to have perfected this poker stuff quite yet, hands up, error on post! I won't moan if we do our brains on the GTE - deal :)

Sorry Rob, great post and clearly 16 levels on day 1 is best. Also I know I shouldn't moan about playing a £500k gtd tournament with a super deep structure in the best poker venue I know. Especially since I'm effectively freerolling it.
But in a spirit of constructive criticism, couldn't this info be put on the DTD website from the outset?

Got above average stack on first hand, with only two us seated I limped in, he completed sb, we checked to the river and my Ace high was good. Went below average two hands later and only had a couple of brief spells above it throughout all 16 levels. (reckon I've had about four tournaments worth of hands with a deuce and a card lower than nine).
Some plays that defied the logic of a £500 buy in, 50,000 chip 40 minute structure, and some that just defied logic. Probably made a couple of those myself, but saw plenty more.


Any indication of payouts yet?

Well day 1b has finished last reg and we have a total of 455 players, tomorrow we need 545 to hit the guarantee!

There are 290 pre reg and 20 from tonights last club satellite so 235 walk ins required.

I think we have a slim chance, we can seat 450 from the start and easily get 95 more in over the 9 late reg levels but are there 235 players out there with £560?

Last 2 days we have had approx 100 each day.

The overlay is currently £117,5000, i am sure the value hunters will be watching all day to see what it is knowing that they can join at level 9, 500 1000 with 50bb and the average approx 65,000.

I think that is normally not done until day 2 starts - assuming they get a good turnout today I would think 90-100 (10%) would cash.
