Title: Pokerstars Verification e-Mail Post by: tikay on August 30, 2012, 09:20:09 AM I received an e-Mail yesterday from PokerStars, asking me to provide scanned documents to verify my identity. The e-Mail looks to be genuine.
It requests a copy of my Driving Licence or Passport, & a Utility Bill less than 3 months old. It states that the information is required as part of its legal & licence requirements, & tellingly adds "all cashouts will be subject to this requirement". (In other words, if I don't provide it, I cannot withdraw). I do have a small sum on deposit there. Have their "legal & licence" requirements changed? I've had the account since early 2002, I played on it a great deal in 2002/3/4, but rarely since. It has been near-dormant for some years now, & have never been previously asked for this info. I do have a small sum on deposit there. Has anyone else been asked to provide this information? Title: Re: Pokerstars Verification e-Mail Post by: EvilPie on August 30, 2012, 09:28:00 AM Easiest thing is to log in to stars, go to help then contact/upload documents and then ask the question directly to them.
Can't go wrong then. Also you can upload your documents directly to the client so nothing dodgy. This, but depending on your software you can usually right click or similar the sender and find out who exactly sent the email. Title: Re: Pokerstars Verification e-Mail Post by: doubleup on August 30, 2012, 09:34:47 AM By co-incidence I got one of these as well. As suggested above, you can send it directly through the stars software.

Umm, sadly, no I would not, especially when it involves e-Mails....... Hence the question "has anyone else received such an e-Mail from 'Stars recently?" As suggested above, you can send it directly through the stars software. That was the reply I was seeking, thanks. Just struck me as odd, I've had the account 10 years! Title: Re: Pokerstars Verification e-Mail Post by: claypole on August 30, 2012, 09:38:32 AM Tony - not recently, however just confirm directly if not sure and upload directly via the client, that way you know it goes direct to them. I am guessing of you have made real money transfers recently that is why there asking; it's led by money laundering regs and the time I got asked first was with increased transfer activity.

Thanks Shaun. No, I've not made any money transfers via 'Stars of late, not that I can recall. And I am over 18. Title: Re: Pokerstars Verification e-Mail Post by: doubleup on August 30, 2012, 09:40:27 AM I also just received confirmation that the docs were acceptable.
I think they must be doing a clean-up sweep. They asked me for docs a couple of years ago and I sent them the copies I had on my pc, but one of them was out of date and I never got round to rescanning. Guess its a clean up then, I haven't received on answer to your question :) Guess by doing through client it's pretty save tho and no risk. Title: Re: Pokerstars Verification e-Mail Post by: PizzicatoXev on August 30, 2012, 10:03:54 AM Pokerstars announced about 3 years ago they were going to do kyc on all real money accounts and started with Supernovas before moving onto the rest of the playerbase... I guess your account was one of the ones that slipped through the cracks...
As for Skype I get a few attempts a year on there trying to get my pw... what's amusing is that they phone me and the couple of times I actually picked up to fuck with them they couldn't even.speak any English lol Title: Re: Pokerstars Verification e-Mail Post by: RED-DOG on August 30, 2012, 10:26:17 AM I got this email the other day. The girls fell about laughing. They reckon it's not genuine, but I'm not so sure... Wow! You are an exquisite looking man. So stunning. You captured my attention. But then I imagine you have that affect on all women. Would you be interested in corresponding? If you would like to know more about me, please reply to my email. Title: Re: Pokerstars Verification e-Mail Post by: railtard1 on September 06, 2012, 03:13:34 PM on sundays (other days too but i generally just get it on sundays when alot of tables r going) stars security may ask for you to type a sequence of letters or numbers in the chat box on a certain table just to check your not a robot.
Also similar to other sites, if your account is inactive for a prolonged period i think they may send a securuity email. But as said previously in this thread, use HELP, CONTACT SUPPORT on the stars lobby to contact them. They can bring up a chat box on the stars lobby if needed with a member of support. Title: Re: Pokerstars Verification e-Mail Post by: BorntoBubble on September 06, 2012, 06:52:21 PM Shame there so good at it these days scammers it is so much harder to stay on top of it then the old post scams or yhou have won 10 million ugandan dollers etc. The email links are tough when they look geniue not to click on dont think i have been done yet but im sure one day they wil get me :(
