Title: DTD Monte Carlo Team Side Bet
Post by: Mitch on April 09, 2013, 04:27:40 AM
Bit of fun to add to the action in Notts next week...

Teams of 4 players: Each player will try and earn points for their team via the following methods;

Make Day 2  +5pts
Cash           +15pts
Final Table   +25pts
Win            +50pts

(Points are total, not cumulative)

Penalty Points
Pure Bubble   -20pts
Within 10 places of the Bubble  -5pts
Re-Entering  -5pts

Team Bonus Points
2 Players make day 2  +2
3 Players make day 2  +3
4 Players make day 3  +5

2 Players cash +5
3 Players cash +10
4 Players cash +15

Entry: £100 + £10 per person (The tenner going towards Emannuel House charity, which DTD will match each donation, pound for pound. See:  http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=60644.0 (http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=60644.0)

Rules:

Each team must have submitted a player list, comedy team name, and payment by 8pm on Weds 17th April.

Each team must nominate a captain, whos points will be doubled.

The payment must be made per team by the captain, i.e. send or pay in cash in one transaction, and this is how it will be returned to the winning team.

The team with the most points will collect the whole pot, and distribute it between their team.

Members of your team playing the online leg must declare so before the start of the tournament so we can track entries. It is not necessary to declare your screen name. If a player does not declare and makes day 2, no points will be awarded to that player.

In the event of a team finishing on equal points, the team with the player who went deepest in the tournament will win.

Payment details will be sent to captains via PM once a team has been submitted on this thread.

Final Table classed as the official streamed table of 8.

Pretty sure we can get a good number of teams for this. If you are interested in playing but need some people to team up with, say so on here and we can pair you up with people in the same situation. Any ideas to add, or things i might have missed, re: rules and non farce situations, let me know on here.

Mitch is this run off 'level weights' or is it a handicap?

Just thinking, given the entry to this comp is £100, Ian 'Iancredible Hundred' Gascoigne is essentially nailed on and wanted to be sure you all have a fair chance against him.

Take him on without a handicap if you wish but don't say I didn't warn you...

Title: Re: DTD Monte Carlo Team Side Bet

Questions:

Are the points cumulative i.e If i cash will i receive 15 points (5+10)? or just 10 points?
Within 5 of the bubble, assuming this only applies if i finish wrong side of the bubble.  i.e. If i finish 68th and the bubble is 70th do i still lose 2 points?
If 2 people pure bubble i.e. on the same hand do they both get -20?
Is the final table the final 9 or is it 8?

Suggestions:

Think there should be penalties for re-entering day 1.  say -5 for every re-entry.

Thought it would be hard to track re entries because of online leg. Can do a penalty for that tho if you want.

Keith: no, points are a total. So it's basically it's 5 for day 2, and a further 5 for cashing.

Could maybe change the bubble thing to the 3 closest non cashers are -2 or whatever.

Winner takes all was the plan.

Final table will be 8, as the stream.

Captains earn double/treble negative scores, or not?

Personally i think it should be 1st bullet only. Makes it fair then.

Unsure about the captain thing. I think treble points is a bit much though. Captain 2x and rest 1x points?

Could do that, just means that your never really out of it if your captain is still in. I.e the rest of your team bust day 1, you still have a sweat.

Maybe just double for captain and vice captain...

vice captain a bit unnecessary for a 4man team?

Point scoring format seems way too flat and nit rewarding

Title: Re: DTD Monte Carlo Team Side Bet
Post by: Doobs on April 09, 2013, 03:24:08 PM
Don't think there is much need to double points for anyone.  Surely there is going to be a sweat as long as someone is still in.  At least until the final table anyway?

Think it should be 1 entry only.  You can declare your online entry in advance.  If you don't declare in advance it doesn't count.  Given 1b and 1c lists will be published it should be clear if someone has pulled a fast one.

Probs rite.

What you suggest, 5, 15, 25, 50 sound better?

I think +5 point for busting day 1, and -10 points for anyone making day 2 and not cashing would be fun. Give it more of a gambley feel

But yeah i mean if you have someone who wins the comp, you shouldnt ever be in a position where you lose a team bet barring miracles

LOL.

Didnt know there were set rules for running something for comedy / charity.

Also, pretty standard in fantasy football etc that you assign a captain that gets you bonus points.

This is a team side bet, not event. Any other team event would not have this dick measuring ego contest!

It seems a very unfair set of rules with regards to captain & re-entry.

There is nothing 'un-fair' about the captaincy thing. It just adds a little extra to the point scoring.

I am happy to change the re-entry rule tho if the majority think it would be better to make the player stipulate which day they are entering. My way of thinking, is that the more of the people who actually make the second day, will add to the fun of the event.

Post by: aaron1867 on April 09, 2013, 06:26:36 PM
Boba, that is something my 12 year old sister would reply with, try harder.

My points here Mitch is that it's a team game, should one player be worth more than the other? That old chestnut of "there is no I in team" - think all of the team should be on level field. I think others are similar view.

As for RE, definitely shouldn't count someone's second entry.

Title: Re: DTD Monte Carlo Team Side Bet

Keeping the Captaincy thing seems logical now team 2 fat 2 thin have put keith as captain. No doubt he will bust when he sees a juicy 5/10 game going.

Plus aaron if you don't like the rules don't play simples. Mitch has put it out there and people are discussing rules i like the captain double points thing. If your captain makes the final table yeah you've probably win.. but don't you deserve to? Same as if one of your players win's you probably win... even though you don't deserve to as you will have won enough £££ to be having a bath in fivers.

I will be in if i can satisfy the 3 conditions.

1. Find a team
2. Find a buy in
3. Find £110 to flick in.

Currently im going to start with the £110 i think that's probably the easiest. So far ive looked down the back of my sofa, and in the bins in my house. But no luck. Any other suggestions?

Think would be better to make people who play online to declare it pre.

That way you can't freeroll and only declare if you bust.

If you play and miraculously make day 2 without playing live, we will know.

How about big bonus points for multiple team members completing a task.

For example, where you would get +5 for making day 2, if 2 team mates make day 2 they get double points, +10 for each, if three do it it's +15 for each and a massive +25 each if all team members get through for the scoop points. The same system would apply to making the money and making ft.

Dunno if that sounds too complicated, I don't think it is; just a bit more adding up needed.

It gives it more of a team effort feel to it.

Dunno if that sounds too complicated, I don't think it is; just a bit more adding up needed.

It gives it more of a team effort feel to it.

Don't you think the chance of a 100k pay off enough of an incentive? :)

DTD's biggest ever satellites, a huge commitment, and every little helps to enable them to get the numbers...

All you have to do is click the twitter or facebook link top right, now that function has been added

Have updated OP with the team bonuses and the rules on re-entry.

Have slightly altered the scoring system Yian suggested into bonus points rather than 'doubling'. Hopefully these are fair, feedback welcome of course.

Will get the terms set in stone ASAP so Dubai can run a book.

Just to be clear, IF ONE OF YOUR TEAM IS PLAYING THE ONLINE LEG, IT MUST BE DECLARED ON THIS THREAD. Ill send a reminder to captains when I send payment info PM's out.

Cheers.

6 teams in so far. Have just messaged everyone re:payment.

Will extend cut off for last entry till 12pm on the day of the first live day 1 for teams who wont have anybody involved in the online leg.

Hoping to get a couple more teams when the majority of the big sattelites are over.

10 teams would make it £1k for the winner, so basically would mean you have freerolled the event and be a nice chunk for the charity.

Already decided am just gonna go 5/1 everyone if its 6 teams, betting to 100%, under the following circumstances the only people who can bet are those that I honestly believe who happily take the worst of a bet with me as well as taking the best of it, and if they don't take the piss stakes wise- For everyone else prices and limits will be on an individual basis. Some people will be allowed any amounts at a fair price, some people will be allowed £1 at a good price and any amount they want at a worse price. Punishes the once a year life nits gamblers that try and pick u off

So I can pick any team from the list and you are giving me 5/1? This seems very good to me, because maths is showing which team would be best to back regarding the points scoring.

Also, odds on which team to finish bottom please?

Claypole you're booked £100 on Triggs mob @5/1 if 6 teams, 6/1 if 7 teams. You fit the criteria I set to a tee, always would punt the worst of it, don't take advantage and even only asked for £100, glgl

Yeah, just spoke to Tim about it on FB.

Know all the captains pretty well, so can take cash aslong as its before day 1B, and you dont have anybody playing online.

Would prefer getting it sorted if people are playing 1c as i wont be at the cllub til later on.

Team total score, in the nature of tournaments it's kind of hard for more than 1 of the 4 of us to cash. You could just make day 2 and we could all brick.

No, rules say you you have to declare an online player, and if he re-enters you lose 5.

If its not stated that somebody was playing, they can't gain any points.

(Was to avoid possible grims and to help track scores)

After speaking to people today, they think a better punishment is for Ben to stay in but lose the 5 points.

After re reading my own rule, I think this is correct.

'"Members of your team playing the online leg must declare so before the start of the tournament so we can track entries. It is not necessary to declare your screen name. If a player does not declare and makes day 2, no points will be awarded to that player."

In my head it was down a little differently. Will let the majority decide what they want to do.

Ben in playing again 2moro so potentially could be -10

Would appreciate a few people voting either way before the start 2moro.

Cheers.

Are you going to update the points after day 1c so we can see who's in the lead heading into day 2? I think that's a cool idea cos then you can anti-rail people etc.

Will try. Plan on playing at DTD later and don't want a mega late night before day 2 so ill see if I get chance. If anyone else wants to do it, feel free!

Ben back in for us then, and Tim asked last night if he could swap a player who wouldn't now be able to make it. Mark McCluskey is in for Neil Ryder. Op updated.

GL all.

Title: Re: DTD Monte Carlo Team Side Bet: DAY 2 UPDATE
Post by: Mitch on April 20, 2013, 03:38:44 AM
Day 2 Standings:

1) 2Fat2ThinFTW: Keith Johnson (c) 25000, George Bedi 107600, Ben Dobson 60500, Mitch Johnson 203900. Team total: 20 (includes 2 x re entry penalties)

2) Team ISIT? : Alex Goulder (c) 117500, Chinese Frankie 39800, Julian Thew, Wadey . Team Total: 7 (includes 2 x re entry penalties)

3) TeamGascoigne: Simon Deadman (c), Ian Gascoigne, James Keys 30400, Ed Gascoigne Team Total: 0 (includes 1 x re entry penalty)

4) 4guys1cup: Jamie Sykes (c) 25800 Pleno 133400, Oscar Bergling 81100, Jamie Burland 33600. Team Total: 25 (includes 1 x re entry penalties)

5) Team Cody: Jake Cody (c) Richard Trigg 99000, Paul Foltyn 164200, Sam Grafton. Team Total: 2 (includes 2 x re entry penalties)

So, 4guys1cup lead the way so far, with all 4 players still left in for day 2, but with more points up for grabs, along with possible penalty points for the bubble boys, its anybody's game.... Well almost. GG 'The panthers'.

Good Luck all for day 2.

you can have 3/1

is that my score vs your teams highest scoring individual score or total score vs me on my own?

Team total score, in the nature of tournaments it's kind of hard for more than 1 of the 4 of us to cash. You could just make day 2 and we could all brick.

I was joking(ish) but i been of blonde for a few days hence why i didnt respond. That was a ridiculously bad bad though.

Your right! It's not impossible. Just think back to the time they all told you would never beat David Gorr, even with a 15-1 chip lead. U nearly proved them wrong then, no reason to not go one step further this time.

Surely there will be a bar stewards enquiry if the organiser of the side event wins the main event ? Or at least a massive night out for all the entrants..................

Hilarious comment by Ed following recent couple of days visit to DTD. ' I had seen all these references to his eating on Blonde and I wondered if it was true or just chat. Having spent a few late nights at the club I see what everyone means '.

Think Chung being captain and playing 1 hand at the final gives him 50 points which is as much as Trigg for winning

Hi Guys

Mitch gave me £280 tonight to donate to the Emmanuel House fund from the money collected for this team challenge.

Just like to say thanks for this generous donation, it will help us towards our target of £50,000 that DTD will match.

Hope to see some of you at the party tomorrow night:)

Cheers
