Title: Roulette Post by: Hinchlt on May 11, 2013, 05:43:00 PM Despite spending considerable time in casinos over the past few years player poker, and the occasional drunken black jack session (FML) I've only recently flicked it in on a roulette table.
Just generally wondering the betting strategies (of total lack of the former) people use? I have 6 set numbers I bet on, and pray to the degen gods As a new member, I'm not sure, but I think I'm supposed to say "Flame Away" GO. Title: Re: Roulette Post by: Karabiner on May 11, 2013, 06:34:24 PM I remember a few years back there was this guy on the poker scene from Birmingham way called Tyrone. He actually played in the first series of Late Night Poker, and he always said that he was a "Professional Roulette Player".
He's not around presently as I believe he's on holiday at one of Her majesty's "hotels" for the forseeable future, but I'm sure he would be only too happy to share his system with you when he's back on the scene. Title: Re: Roulette Post by: RED-DOG on May 11, 2013, 06:41:16 PM I don't play roulette, but I'm sure that it's best to bet on the number that the ball is going to land on next, otherwise it would -EV because if you leave it to luck, the house has a built in edge.

Title: Re: Roulette Post by: Tal on May 11, 2013, 07:01:56 PM I don't get any enjoyment out of roulette so don't play (read: I find other ways of losing my money, rather than I squirrel it away like a boss).
Lat time I went to Vegas, I knew I'd be railing a friend's lengthy roulette sessions, so picked some numbers in case I was really bored. I went for the longest chain of Sexy Primes (prime numbers six apart - like the German sechs - maths gags ftw): 5 11 17 23 29 Couldn't tell you where they are on the wheel (I think 23 and 5 are close) but seemed to mean I was always in play. Never felt so bored losing money. Title: Re: Roulette Post by: Karabiner on May 11, 2013, 07:19:55 PM ^^^
American wheel is a different layout to the European version including 00. So the usual tierce, neighbours, orphans etc. don't work there. Mind you I did retire from playing roulette c1970. Title: Re: Roulette Post by: Tal on May 11, 2013, 07:23:18 PM Yeah. Doesnt matter if you're just picking out primes :)
Title: Re: Roulette Post by: kinboshi on May 11, 2013, 07:23:36 PM My strategy is not to bet on roulette.
Working quite well for me so far. Title: Re: Roulette Post by: redsimon on May 11, 2013, 07:29:32 PM Need Ali "Bagobollox" Ahmed to join Blonde as the roulette correspondent methinks :)
Title: Re: Roulette Post by: Simon Galloway on May 11, 2013, 07:45:42 PM Some like to bet consecutive numbers in a section of the wheel. That way, it lands in your section... or it doesn't. Those betting randomly chosen numbers seem to bemoan thier luck that they were always "next door" to a great number. Ofc the maths doesn't change whichever way you do it.
In my youth, I dealt in casinos to pay my way through college. I used to stand there watching a guy buy in for £100, put all his chips everywhere and as the ball was going round, I was trying to identify a number where he might win more than £105.... He would stand there all night, ofc the dealer would hit some blank numbers often enough to guarantee he never had a decent winning night, but often did his coconuts. So, in recognition of the -EV nature, the only betting suggestion is to bet aggressively (not exposing yourself to the house edge for more than 4-5 spins) and to press hard enough to be able to win whatever you dream of winning from that. Most times, you will be going home as skint as the £105 guy above, but once in a while you will get the absolute lot. I must admit that it's not a plural but the French spelling of the word. The "tierce" or "tiers" bet covers one third of the wheel (not counting zero). Tierce is the French word for "third", and I got "O" level French. Title: Re: Roulette Post by: outragous76 on May 11, 2013, 08:21:05 PM i dont play roulette

Title: Re: Roulette Post by: Simon Galloway on May 11, 2013, 09:05:33 PM Before casinos used racetracks to accept call bets, all the neighbour bets used to be on discs in a tray that the dealer would put up on the rim of the wheel mid-spin.
The discs for the French section bets were labelled "Grand Voisons du Zero" "Orphelins" and "Tier du Cylindre" They may, of course, have been incorrectly labelled :) Title: Re: Roulette Post by: Leatherman on May 11, 2013, 09:06:03 PM Diego do not play roulette unless u like losing money but it is mega fun ^^^ listen to this guy ;shame; Title: Re: Roulette Post by: Tal on May 11, 2013, 09:08:29 PM I will just say...it doesn't matter which numbers you bet on, the odds remain the same.

Its pretty amusing watching people spunk off a buttload, trying to clean the money from their illegitimate business en-devours Title: Re: Roulette Post by: stato_1 on May 12, 2013, 12:37:04 AM 0 neighbours ftw. Its the best sweat since you can always see where the 0 is
Title: Re: Roulette Post by: Tal on May 12, 2013, 12:56:20 AM Its pretty amusing watching people spunk off a buttload I'm having a lot of fun with this turn of phrase. :D Title: Re: Roulette Post by: mulhuzz on May 12, 2013, 02:33:06 AM If you're going to pick numbers and play them, make sure you always play those numbers. Nothingore tilting than changing and seeing it roll in.
For example, I like making pretty patterns in the middle section, so 20 and 17 are always well covered. I like making these patterns because I am a manchild with mild OCD. Also, with newer dealers and for non-huge amounts, patterns give you more chances of being overpaid. Of course underpaid too, but you can work out what 4 streets, 12 corners, three splits and five straight up is, right? ^^ Title: Re: Roulette Post by: wazz on May 22, 2013, 04:04:10 AM I remember a few years back there was this guy on the poker scene from Birmingham way called Tyrone. This has a number of strategical advantages:
1) No stretching 2) You get to put your chips down unimpeded as everyone knows these 6 numbers are your "manor" and will let you go first. 3) More time for drinking and smoking while the other punters are covering their absured combinations 4) No need to look at the wheel as you just need to see if the croupier's hand is coming over to the manor at the end of the spin. Title: Re: Roulette Post by: Woodsey on May 22, 2013, 05:46:42 PM Just follow the same numbers as my mum, she always does pretty well ;cheerleader;

Title: Re: Roulette Post by: the sicilian on May 24, 2013, 01:06:04 PM Best advice.. don't play
if you do play hit fast and hard..you cant win over the long run if you get nicely up...get out 5..33.14 neighbours 25 split 20/23... FTW !! |
