American wheel is a different layout to the European version including 00.
So the usual tierce, neighbours, orphans etc. don't work there.
Mind you I did retire from playing roulette c1970.
I'm so impressed that you knew the plural of tier.
I didn't.
I must admit that it's not a plural but the French spelling of the word.
The "tierce" or "tiers" bet covers one third of the wheel (not counting zero).
Tierce is the French word for "third", and I got "O" level French.
Bon pour vous, mon ami.

Before casinos used racetracks to accept call bets, all the neighbour bets used to be on discs in a tray that the dealer would put up on the rim of the wheel mid-spin.
The discs for the French section bets were labelled "Grand Voisons du Zero" "Orphelins" and "Tier du Cylindre"
They may, of course, have been incorrectly labelled

I will just say...it doesn't matter which numbers you bet on, the odds remain the same.

juuuuust wanted to point out im well aware roulette is -ev, with a house edge which is why I've never bothered (until i got a free play comp voucher the other week) which I spun up to £100 (free shit FTW)
Its pretty amusing watching people spunk off a buttload, trying to clean the money from their illegitimate business en-devours

I'm having a lot of fun with this turn of phrase.

If you're going to pick numbers and play them, make sure you always play those numbers. Nothingore tilting than changing and seeing it roll in.
For example, I like making pretty patterns in the middle section, so 20 and 17 are always well covered. I like making these patterns because I am a manchild with mild OCD.
Also, with newer dealers and for non-huge amounts, patterns give you more chances of being overpaid. Of course underpaid too, but you can work out what 4 streets, 12 corners, three splits and five straight up is, right? ^^

I remember a few years back there was this guy on the poker scene from Birmingham way called Tyrone. He actually played in the first series of Late Night Poker, and he always said that he was a "Professional Roulette Player".
I'm not far from being a professional roulette player. I'm up a lot from it. Pretty boring though
0, 3, 5, 8, 10, 15, 16, 23, 24, 26, 30, 32, 33.

He's not around presently as I believe he's on holiday at one of Her majesty's "hotels" for the forseeable future, but I'm sure he would be only too happy to share his system with you when he's back on the scene.
What does he look like? Used to play at broadway at all?

Sit and end of table. Bet on numbers 31-36. This has a number of strategical advantages:
1) No stretching
2) You get to put your chips down unimpeded as everyone knows these 6 numbers are your "manor" and will let you go first.
3) More time for drinking and smoking while the other punters are covering their absured combinations
4) No need to look at the wheel as you just need to see if the croupier's hand is coming over to the manor at the end of the spin.
