Title: Stars $109Rebuy - Line thoughts
Post by: Pinchop73 on July 23, 2013, 01:05:18 PM
Original raiser in this hand has been battling with the BB all comp long, really attacking each other. Is a decent winner but imo hasn't been playing particularly well vs the BB, who shows up as a very low volume HS break even player, has been super active opening everything from everywhere.

thoughts?

You don't always have to take an orthadox line pre pleno.

Overall I really hate it (sorry). Eln$ has flatted pre, flatted the flop and then flatted the turn. His range isn't exactly weak is it. He should be folding 77-JJ hands here if he has any sense given the action. He just looks so strong to me!

huh? its not orthadox or unorthadox i just think its bad. we should try to avoid from making bad lines pre flop imo!  people just v hoody these days and not folding much

You can prob 3bet with better hands like 97s I guess if someone opens a ton.

Don't be silly Dan! I'm actively looking for criticism!

But bare in mind that the BB can (and has) have complete air here on a steal, not much of 3b ranges can call.

Just river a 3 and you'll be fine

If you are a massive nit and you don't really have a great feel for the game then peeling 6's from the sb vs a good player probably isn't going to show a profit. I find it impossible to think that folding 6's myself here is a good idea and I don't consider myself a great player by any means.

I actually only just realised we are in the sb though, it makes the 3bet pretty bad imo. People don't like to fold and 6's don't play well post flop OOP.

I feel like with the antes and our opponents, whilst good, have clearly shown they aren't afraid to get chips in. There probably is a line though, I imagine with 22 we'd struggle, at least 66  s can overset someone. I've never played these stakes though.

I'm not folding pre, think u have a great stack and the other two are deep enough to get the lot if u flop it, but that's just it really. > peel pre, check call flop, check decide turn, if not so big may peel again but I wouldn't be confident and think its v. Fishy with the 3 hearts down now.

In honesty think u have butchered the hand, and took a real high variance line out of position in a very good structured tournament with a decent stack, where the key is to preserve and put pressure on the better players in a much better position than u were in above.

If you are a massive nit

Tbf the 100r is never really the highest on the fav game lists of nits

Agree with the flat pre and as played it seems that eln$ has a hand he won't fold the vast majority of the time.

Both flat and fold pre are fine imo but 3b definitely isn't - you just don't flop well enough or have easy decisions, and even when you have an overpair you can get screwed as we can see.

'orthodox'

Don't 3-bet pre, but if you do go for bigger sizing.

Worst part of the hand is check-jam on the turn. What are you trying to get em to fold? Also we could be drawing completely dead.

Really don't like the turn shove, the flat from eln fella looks super strong on a wet board, we'll oft be overflushed/against sets with dead outs already

the sizing is what makes this 3b so bad. He has to peel with everything, still a decent p:s ratio, chance of multiway action and ur oop. If you made is 890 i wouldnt mind it, its fun to gamble.
