Is the sat nav knackered or just the US map bit? Title: Re: USA Sat Nav Post by: The_nun on August 11, 2013, 08:12:01 PM Yes... not sure what is not working. It will not find Satellites so i sent it on a holiday with a work colleague who has a place out there and they couldn't get it to function. So i have given up the ghost on it. That was the Garmin.

Title: Re: USA Sat Nav Post by: Woodsey on August 11, 2013, 08:30:18 PM I don't know if you have an Iphone or I pad but Nav Free is a very good sat nav that is free. I have the UK one and its decent and I drive every day for my job. There is also a US version.
I've just seen that android have the same app also. You can pay a quid or something to get rid of ads, but its not necessary really, still works ok. I used the google maps navigator on my android phone and that was great, it did door to door turn by turn directions. I did have a data connection though. Title: Re: USA Sat Nav Post by: Woodsey on August 11, 2013, 09:44:49 PM No data connection required with Navfree, the map is on the device and it just uses the GPS.
Title: Re: USA Sat Nav Post by: Graham C on August 11, 2013, 09:46:56 PM Silly question but when you use sat nav programs on the phone does it just do it or would it use wifi/3g mins or whatever? I mean, if you use it in another country, is it really free to use or will you get phone charges of some kind?
Ah, I see Woodsey has answered my question before I asked it! Title: Re: USA Sat Nav Post by: redarmi on August 11, 2013, 10:09:42 PM I use Nav free in Florida every week when I am there. It is fine.....the voices annoy me but they get you there.
Title: Re: USA Sat Nav Post by: The_nun on August 12, 2013, 06:57:19 AM So the nav free does not require no data connection?. Dont you get charged then to connect to GPS? I use it over here all the time never a sat nav but thought i would be charged over there? Tmobile
