Title: England v Scotland Post by: aaron1867 on August 12, 2013, 08:47:34 PM Putting this one up as game is on Wednesday on ITV.
I generally have no interest in friendlies, same applies here even against Scotland, still have little interest weirdly. Think England will win to nil, think it will be more than one, but not a hammering, therefore backing 2,3 and 4 nil, think it will be 2 or nil though hopefully a good game and fantastic atmosphere though.... Title: Re: England v Scotland Post by: scotty2hatty on August 12, 2013, 09:36:58 PM 1-0 Scotland

Or is the Scotland fan base dominated by one team or the other? Title: Re: England v Scotland Post by: OverTheBorder on August 12, 2013, 11:16:10 PM Do Rangers and Celtic fans stand next to each other and get behind the national team? Or is the Scotland fan base dominated by one team or the other? Scotland support is normally more heavily Dundee Utd and Aberdeen, in comparison to the number of people who support them nationwide the proportion of hardcore national supporters would be high. The support of the Old Firm is directly corellated to how much of an arse hole the individual is, most would, some Rangers fans will sing Rule Britannia and support England openly, at the same time some Celtic fans will waive there tricolore while watching coronation street. Title: Re: England v Scotland Post by: Snowball on August 12, 2013, 11:17:13 PM Do Rangers and Celtic fans stand next to each other and get behind the national team? Your average Scotland match at hampden holding 50k at an estimate would be made up of 5000 Celtic/Rangers, probably 50/50 with the other 45000 from the rest of the Scottish sides. Or is the Scotland fan base dominated by one team or the other? Personally I have been to 1 Scotland match and that was with my Football Boys club when I was 10. Have seen Eire, Mexico, Belgium, morrocco, Wales, Malta.
Not fussed about Scotland, just because I've always had a low expectation level. Title: Re: England v Scotland Post by: celtic on August 12, 2013, 11:46:41 PM Would love it Scotland beat England though. Won't happen.

Title: Re: England v Scotland Post by: aaron1867 on August 14, 2013, 08:08:59 PM Looks a good side, would be siding with wellbeck over Rooney for goals, 8's around.
Anyone streams for it, as don't have a TV around Title: Re: England v Scotland Post by: Marky147 on August 14, 2013, 08:11:16 PM http://tykestv.eu/streams/premgames/premgames-1/

Title: Re: England v Scotland Post by: aaron1867 on August 14, 2013, 08:19:47 PM Didn't someone on here once describe Joe Hart as world class? Someone said Wilshire is as well. Someone said Wilshire is as well. lots of people have said for years that England could win the World Cup soon. I wouldn't worry about the odd player being over rated. Title: Re: England v Scotland Post by: Ant040689 on August 14, 2013, 08:38:50 PM Didn't someone on here once describe Joe Hart as world class? Dipped on him harshly. Definite mistake, but as it is pre-season, you have to overlook that. Wish I could suggest someone better, but if he's our best we're in trouble Title: Re: England v Scotland Post by: Ironside on August 14, 2013, 09:14:09 PM even if we lose this 7-2 i am over the moon
Title: Re: England v Scotland Post by: aaron1867 on August 14, 2013, 09:50:39 PM We are having to hold on against Scotland, it is pathetic. There is not as much between the sides as the FIFA rankings would like you to think.
Title: Re: England v Scotland Post by: Ironside on August 14, 2013, 11:04:59 PM i am over the moon at that performance and if anyone was going too score a winning goal against us i am glad it was ricky a fellow saint

Definite mistake, but as it is pre-season, you have to overlook that. Wish I could suggest someone better, but if he's our best we're in trouble He was in poor form and that's carried on from last season, so we need to look elsewhere for a couple of games. He's a liability at the moment. Title: Re: England v Scotland Post by: Tal on August 15, 2013, 08:23:19 AM Also loved the fact that Hodgson used the opportunity of a friendly to test out a new idea he had for a midfield pairing: lampard with gerrard.
Title: Re: England v Scotland Post by: luther101 on August 15, 2013, 11:46:05 AM Mmmmmmm - Joe Hart .... nuff said. Gerrard ..... legs 'starting to go', not the player he was. Rooney ..... unfit, clueless, waste of space. Rickie Lambert ... pleased for him, hardly the future tho. What do we learn from last night's game? The England football team is average - the Scotland football team is very average. There are no lengths the money grabbing leeches at the FA will not go to, to squeeze every last egg from the Golden Goose - expect the '150th anniversary' to continue for the next 150 years (well that's what it feels like!) A latter-day England v Scotland game is a pale shadow of yesteryear, especially off the pitch - as 'modern' English football fans no longer beat the crap out of the Tartan Army for merely turning up, expect the English FA to re-instate a more regular slot for this 'money-spinner' ...... unless it clashes with a One Direction concert date. of course. All in all, a trifle underwhelming. |
