Title: EPT and UKIPT London thread
Post by: TightEnd on September 28, 2013, 11:47:01 AM
The PokerStars European Poker Tour London Poker Festival will run from October 2-12 and will attract the best players from around the world to do battle for millions of pounds.

Last season Dutch pro Ruben Visser took down the Main Event, playing through a field of 647 players to scoop a first place prize of £595,000. UK businessman Talal Shakerchi notched the High Roller event, taking home £436,330 in cash. In total, well over £5,000,000 was awarded in prize money, making EPT London one of the world’s very best live poker events.

Season 10's London stop will again be an extravaganza of poker, with a wealth of events including the £5,000 + £250 Main Event, the High Roller and for the first time a £50,000 Super High Roller. EPT London is also the Grand Final of the PokerStars UK & Ireland Poker Tour, with a £1,000 + £100 Main Event. The festival also moves to a new home at the Grand Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden.

The schedule is at http://www.europeanpokertour.com/tournaments/london/

this thread for news, updates, reports etc.

Please post how you get on if playing

Quick reminder - you CANNOT, under any circumstances, buy-in @ the Venue, the Connaught Rooms, you can ONLY do so either Online, or at the Hippodrome, which is a goodly walk away.

In my world, a 10 minute stroll is a goodly long way.

Hi all!

I can confirm that you will not be able to buy-in at The Grand Connaught Rooms.  if you are looking to buy-in using cash or PokerStars funds then this will need to be completed at The Hippodrome Casino. We will have a complimentary shuttle service between The Hippodrome Casino and The Grand Connaught rooms running from 10am to 2am or it is a 10 minute simple walk.

If you do not wish to visit The Hippodrome Casino first then we recommend that you buy-in in advance via the PokerStars lobby and you will then be able to pick up your ticket, Hippodrome Friends Card and PS Live card at The Grand Connaught Rooms without having to visit The Hippodrome Casino as long as you bring photo ID!

For a full explanation on the buy-in process please see the following link:

http://www.pokerstarsblog.com/ept/2013/read-this-if-youre-playing-ukipt-or-ept-141888.html

All cash games will also take place in The Hippodrome Casino.

We have a 5 seat guaranteed UKIPT London satellite in The Hippodrome Casino on Tuesday 1st October at 19:00 with a buy-in of £150+£15.

Any questions please let me know.

Many thanks,

Jamie

TL900 - Unfortunately we had to re-jig the schedule to try and ensure that all of our tournaments provided a good playing experience without turning people away, unfortunately this means that a few tournaments had to be removed from the schedule.

Eso-Kral - We are playing 10 levels on UKIPT Day 1A & 1B. Should mean that play concludes around midnight.

Ripple11 - I will try to confirm the initial cap we have on this at present. Where possible I would try and ensure you buy-in in advance for all UKIPT side events if possible. These are all available to register now via the PokerStars lobby and you will be able to register using cash/debit card in the Hippodrome Casino from 10am the day before each event.

Re-entries can be purchased in advance from The Hippodrome Casino if you wish with cash. These will then be refunded if un-used although you will have the return to The Hippodrome Casino for your refund and you must have both copies of your receipt with you.

10,000 Starting Stack/30 mins on Day 1, 40 mins on Day 2/Re-entry available for 6 levels

Late registration is open for 6 levels for this event so 3 hours.

Jamie

As far as I know there is not extensive parking at The Connaught Rooms.

The following is taken from the Hippodrome website:

The China Town car park is located just a short distance from The Hippodrome at 20 Newport Place WC2H 7PR London

Discounts of up to 20% are available on bookings.
To receive your discount please visit www.q-park.co.uk and enter the promotional code ”hippo”’ when making your booking.

We have plenty of room in both Day 1A and Day 1B currently.

Many thanks,

Jamie

8 levels for the UKIPT Main Event. You would have to go to The Hippodrome to buy at this point for today.

RE-ENTRIES UPDATE:

Please note that we will be able to process re-entries using debit cards and PokerStars funds in the Connaught Room in real time, you do not need to purchase these in advance. You only need to purchase cash re-entries in advance.

Hope that makes sense.

That was the only PLO8 in the original schedule I think, there is still a NLO8 turbo and a PLO8/Stud8.

There are 4 different poker rooms rather than one large one. A small bar with no seating. Very limited refreshments. A trek to the toilets. Over zealous security staff. Slow waitress service.

There are however a wide range of coffee shops and eateries in close proximity to the venue.

And apparently a players restaurant on the 2nd floor but as I didn't survive until the dinner break it was not open to view.

They are already searching for a more suitable venue for season 11.

Doesn't sound brilliant for the price of the buy ins

Thought the venue was fine.  Def a big improvment from the Vic IMO.

Sad to see that the numbers in this field will not get close to the Estrellas.  That really is a unique stop.

Think I chose the wrong day 1 too.  Very, very reg/pro heavy.

I thought it was an excellent venue, could get a drink in no time with a very convenient bar, also very reasonably priced.

Not to mention its very easy to get to etc and loads of nice places near by. Good job and cant wait for the EPT

Well at least it solved my dilemma, & bought an end to my dithering. It would have been rather nice to play some PLO8 in the UK.

Never mind.

Lots of guys there I'd enjoy seeing win this, but one name stood out a mile, because although I don't believe he ever posted on blonde, he was absolutely crucial in the the history of blonde, probably more than any other individual. Inadvertently, I would add, as he did nothing wrong.

For some reason, it would make me happy if he won this. Probably not displease him, either.

Good luck Joey Lovelady.

The penultimate day of the PokerStars.com EPT London Main Event was dominated by Jeff Rossiter who starts the final table with 5,205,000 chips.

EPT London Final Table

1   Jeff Rossiter   5,205,000
2   Georgios Karakousis   4,390,000
3   Robin Ylitalo   2,795,000
4   Stefan Vagner   2,525,000
5   Leo McClean   980,000
6   Jan Olav Sjavik   870,000
7   Ludovic Geilich   805,000
8   Kully Sidhu   560,000

The unluckiest player of the day was without question Norwegian Kent Roed. Roed looked down at pocket aces with a raise, a three-bet, and a four-bet in front of him. He proceeded to move all in, the first two raisers quickly folded and Kully Sindhu made the call for his tournament life with two kings. Roed flopped a set and seemed to be on his way to the top of the counts, but running spades ruined his day. Roed was left behind with just a few chips and was knocked out on the very next hand.

Play resumes at 1:00 p.m but because the live stream will be broadcast with hole cards there is a one-hour delay.

Mizzi and Teltscher at the final of the High Roller. Just needed Bonomo for the multiaccounting triple!

Hope Devilfish wins, that would be epic.

Have to love the "on message" nature of it. We don't want any of these 'old poker' people winning the Pokerstars EPT High Roller. As has been said, it's not the whitest of white of final tables all round anyway.

In Swedish poker terms, it must therefore seem like decades since Ramzi Jelassi was clutching the EPT Prague title (actually December last year) and an aeon since the likes of Kent Lundmark, Michael Tureniec, Anton Wigg, et al, would seemingly win an EPT title for the crazy Scandis practically every month.

But the Swedes are now well and truly back as Robin Ylitalo, a 27-year-old pro from Gothenburg, has just stomped all over the final table at EPT London to win £560,980

1   Robin Ylitalo   560,980
2   Georgios Karakousis   349,200
3   Leo McClean   249,850
4   Ludovic Geilich   193,340
5   Jeff Rossiter   152,320
6   Stefan Vagner   119,225
7   Jan Olav Sjavik   88,175
8   Kully Sidhu   60,640

Ridiculous sum of money, interesting to know what his bank roll was before entered. If playing $11 satellites it's probably at a level similar to us normal d

He tried to sell pieces before the event but they all turned it down as they knew he'd qualified online for about £90 ouch,as long as you can afford to lose it I think it's ok especially as he has a job
