Double Rodeo me up baby!!

McDonald Fries are quality, if you get them fresh!

For the bog standard Hamburger, it has to be Wimpy though <3

Wimpy milkshakes are also incred, and crush all!

Marky, you need to take it easy on the meds mate... Wimpy burgers are a joke. McDonalds milkshakes piss on all apart from a MilliShake! The world's best hangover cure.

What on earth has happened?

Before I was introduced to blonde, I used to view this site all the time. New blogs/articles would go up all the time, many of which were pretty interesting, and it seemed to have a pretty active community. Now, they keep putting my results under the wrong name, despite being told multiple times. Their community seems dead, articles barely ever get posted...

Joe Beevers is a regular contributor to blonde, & I've made him aware of this thread. Really, as Tighty says, it belongs on the THM Forum.

In case you were unaware, relations betwen THM & blonde have always been, & remain, excellent. THM's assistance to myself, & blonde, back in the early days enabled us to get started.

I'll have to try and dig out my old username and password then :p THM was always my first port of call, I've read a lot of their articles and always found them pretty interesting. Guess we'll see what happens...

Since the threads been completely derailed I will go ahead and derail it further.

Why would anyone who has the capabilities of turning on an oven ever buy a burger from McD's, BK or Wimpy, they are literally absolute filth, the food is disgusting. It's like they've actually brainwashed people since it's so bizarre anyone ever goes there, any of the supermarkets sell burgers for cheaper than the cost at these joke places that are easily ten times nicer than this shit, fair enough mortal drunk at 3am in the morning is maybe boarderline acceptable, anyone who goes there to purchase food and isn't intoxicated should be sectioned imo.

With McDonalds, I think there is some sort of addiction there. I personally am trying to go the rest of my life without going there, but my missus always goes in these two scenarios 1) she is doing a long car journey 2) she had a bad day at work. In those situations she cant not go. Whenever I come home and see a McDonalds bag in her car, I assume something awful has happened (other than the meal).

McDonalds is awful, I sorta see the appeal of the burgers, but those chips are tasteless and the whole thing makes me feel ill after. Burger King I can live with. Wimpy, wtf is this 1986?

Title: Re: The Hendon Mob
Post by: millidonk on October 01, 2013, 01:49:25 PM
I like Wimpy for nostalgia reasons as my nan and grand used to take me there as a nipper but the other year I saw a Wimpy in a bowling alley and thought to myself "bink, i'm gonna dig into this.." was horrific.

Monda, please don't tell me you can stomach peas pudding but not the fine fast food delicacies? also surely you hate cornedbeef pasties that all my missus' family seem to love. <3 stotties though. nom nom nom.

I pretty much love all fast food joints apart from Nandos which is utterly utterly shit. Not a fan of Japanese or Thai cuisine either really.

Well she ofc could not go since there's a million places to get food from, tell her to fade Subway as well though, confirmed in the terrible club.

Peas pudding is confirmed amazing.

Nando's is one of the only acceptable fast food places since the food actually does taste like it's meant to.

As for corned beef pasties, homemade confirmed in, from Greggs you'll need some of that run good to get any enjoyment out of it. Pie >>>>>>> Pasty though, nom nom nom nom nom.

I was going to make a pic of peas pudding but i just google images it and now i feel sick as I did after I tried some once. You were born with Geordie tastebuds mate, sadly there is no cure. When my missus' family come to stay they bring all sorts of weird food with them that they apparently don't sell "down south" (Lincoln..) not for me thanks, i'll stick to my wholesome fastfood.

Seriously, could one of the mods change the name of this thread and move it to the lounge? I'm well up for this debate.

The XL double bacon cheese burger in burger king is the stone cold nuts. It doesn't taste like meat, or indeed like a burger really, but what it does taste like is a massive orgy of all those unhealthy things that taste SO GOOD. Also, why is it XL? There's a normal one and an extra large one, where is the medium? Or the large? Seems wrong...

Tikay, fresh Indian food is up there with live music as one of those things that is the ultimate in its field. This is now a genuine invite, I will take you out for an indian, with curry lover honeybadger and others, to introduce you to the wonder that is curry,

Definitely will be investigating that next time I'm at DTD!

There used to be one at Rownham services on the M27, so I always used to stop for one whenever I was on the way back from London.

The 2 that were in Dorchester/Weymouth are gone, and the last one I had was in Clacton about 18 months ago.

fck mcd and bk, they are all shit really. Where have you had a great burger?

Great means slow cooked, med rare, succulent beef with fresh toasted bun at least 1 inch thick beef.

Some for me -
The monte carlo bay hotel (where the ept final is) does an absolutely amazing room service burger. We had it 4 times in a week.
Mal Maisson always do a great burger
The unicorn in porthtowan cornwall does an amazing selection

Might have to investigate that place at some point.

And, for the record, McDonalds for breakfast, burger king for lunch, pretty much any indian restaurant for dinner.

OK, you've just blown your chance of me cooking for you, as you requested yesterday in my Diary.

I only cook for those with refined palates.

What. Who could say no to an Indian?

Me.

I never have, & never will, eat an "Indian meal", I have far too much repect for my sphincters.

How many do you have ffs?

If you have more than one I'm not sure what on earth is the problem is.

I'm currently addicted to the KFC snack boxes. Easy to go in, buy, take out and eat whilst walking around town. Cheap too.

Alea in Leeds used to make a really nice burger. Always thick and juicy/pink the middle.

The only burger worth buying from McDs is the chicken burger.

Burger King's new chips are a crime against humanity. I was never really a BK fan anyway as I always found it overpriced but good lord what are they thinking.

Nando's is awesome.

Subway is awesome.

And Tikay. Find a good curry house or make a curry at home from scratch. Much nicer than most cheap take away style or chain restaurants and the effects on your sphincter (!?!?) will be minimal to nil.

Will be attempting this after my next trip away, did the pit burger last month#9looks like the one on the right) with no problems, but feel that the clincher will be the time and the pint of milkshake

might update here with pictures if we can do it

on a side note the wife is well up for the hot wings challenge they do, 9 million on the scovile scale i believe , but she boshes a phal down without smudging her mascara, so i think she'll do it easy

No idea how many I have - I would imagine the same number as anyone else. Probably at least 8 or 10 of them?

I am only bothered about one of them in this instance though, the rest will cope fine.

That is very kind of you, but I'm afraid I have to decline.

Honestly, & this is not disrespectful to you, or Indian food, but if you paid me £1,000 I could & would not eat an Indian meal. Same applies to Thai, Lebanese etc, they are not my thing at all.

The nearest I have come to eating Indian food is the mild curries served to poker player in Casinos at Buffet breaks, when I generally just eat the rice. Rice is nice.

Steak & kidney pudding or pie, sausages & mash, roast beef, lamb or pork with roasties & peas, omelettes, potatoes in any form, ham or cheese sandwiches, these are my staple foods.

I never eat any "greens", onions, garlic etc, the only "veg" I can tolerate are potatoes & peas.

On burgers, I remove ALL relish, even the lettuce.

My sole concession to foreign food would be home made (home made because I exclude onion) spaghetti bolognese.

Each to their own.....

But thank you, anyway.

Nah, we still have a moment to talk about burgers first...

Over here, Byron is the best entry level burger.  Ok, slightly posher than BK, but still entry level.  For a nicer burger, This side of the pond, try Bar Boulud.  The Piggie is immense.  Not silly money to go in there at lunchtime.

I've rarely been able to go into a steakhouse for dinner and order anything other than steak.  But for lunch, places like Gauchos do a pretty good burger.

Over to Vegas.

Best burger bar is Holsteins in Cosmopolitan.

On the same theme, steakhouses are also good places to hunt for burgers on lunch menus.  The trouble is, most Vegas steakhouses only open for dinner.  Good burger options available at lunchtime can be found though,  in Carnevino, Delmonico and Capital Grille ~ where the ratio of sirloin to earholes/bumholes/eyeholes will be a little bit higher.

Circa 1975 and pre Burger King, McDonald's, Nando's etc, Wimpy was the place to be.
Mrs Red use to have a frothy coffee, a toasted teacake and a knickerbocker glory, I used to have the mixed grill with those circular sausages which surrounded the egg.

In the early 1970's a place called "The Great American Disaster" opened in the Fulham Rd/Chelsea area, I can't remember the exact location, but they made fantastic char-grilled burgers which were a revelation at the time.

They were so successful that they spawned copy-cat competition which called itself "The Great American Success".

Wimpey is still the best by a mile (unless the budget stretches to a Byron).  They are hard to find now, but there is one in the town near me - still go down there for the Quarter Pounder with cheese in the brown bun.

Swerve Fat Burger in Vegas, very overrated imo, palce is a dump and feels like you could get stabbed at any second..
Heart attack grill is pretty incred but more about quantity over quality

Planet Dailies in PH is also a swerve. Bog standard and no flavour as you can almost tell from the pic below.

There's a place that I used to go to in Jamaica queens that did a fried fish sandwich, probably the best sandwich I've ever tasted.. Think the place was on Merrick..

On the topic of burgers, there aren't many threads anywhere where this story is actually relevant.  In South Africa at a game reserve they had a competition on where you had to eat two of the burgers, and they came with roughly the same size again in fries.  If you could polish both of them off within an hour, you won 36 cases of beer.

Maybe a long way to travel for a decent burger tho...

I'm on the road a lot of the time and eat loads of that stuff. The burgers normally aren't that great, just cheap burgers usually. The bacon sandwiches etc can be decent enough though as long as they have scrimped on decent ingredients.

I had one of the more elaborate burgers with loads of different flavours in, so it was hard to taste the beef really. Think I'll give it another shot sometime and just have a cheeseburger or something more plain so I can actually taste the burger itself. They all looked very pretty coming out though lol.
