Title: APAT Forum Team Championships - Genting Stoke, 1st & 2nd February 2014
Post by: KarmaDope on November 18, 2013, 07:54:21 PM
Hi all,

I have registered an interest in entering a blonde team into this annual event.

Details are as follows (taken from APAT forum):

25 teams of 8 players each will compete for both a team and an individual prize pool in the Team Championship, which will consist of a 200-runner MTT (TBC).

Entry is £400+£40 per team, with the total buyins paid out on a 50/50 basis to the top 3 teams and the top 20 players from the MTT (TBC). This would be £55pp.

The top 100 players in the MTT will score points for their team with 1st=100pts down to 100th=1pt (TBC).

Teams are to provide their own matching-colour team shirts for their members for both days of the event – if desired, these are available from APAT at a cost of £15 per shirt and can be branded with the Team Name and player ‘name/nickname’ on the breast of both shirts.

This event has seen huge demand in previous years, and we are expecting similar interest for 2014.  The event has also on occasion suffered from ‘team last minute dropouts’ in the past, and therefore for 2014 we will maintain a reserve list and require all successful teams to pay the entry fee in advance by 12:00 noon on Friday 17th January 2014.  Any team failing to meet the buyin deadline will have their entry offered to teams on the reserve list.  Any team that pays the full buyin and has a last minute need to drop out will have their entry offered to the next team on the reserve list and whichever team takes up this option will have their buyin used to reimburse the team that had to drop out (via APAT).

Further and full details of the event will be posted on the APAT Forum by 18th January 2014 at the latest.

So - who is interested?

How Blonde have never won this before is beyond me.

Get Tighty on the team to start with.

Then you want the best player in the Bedi household, don't stand for second best.

Kinboshi had won APAT gold before anyone knew how to play poker, so he must be good.

Get Ironside out of semi-retirement.

Tikay loves a good team event.

The rest of the teams won't know what hit them.

Happy to play if required, my current form is live events is terrible though (not expecting to get selected tbh).

If I don't get picked I will certainly be following the updates and supporting Blonde.

Surely your a shoe in!

Nowt to do with me ofc but APAT regs should definitely get precedence for team selection imo.

They have one team, same as all other forums. Once or twice they have had more than one - but in the most recent events they had one forum team and one team which was their team league winner.

I've just noticed above that the entry fee has to be paid in advance.

Whomever is picked as captain (i'm certainly not appointing myself after last year's argument!) will have to arrange the payment of this and source monies from all other players.

I would assume that if someone is chosen, pays up then cannot make it, that person would be refunded personally by their replacement. I would also assume that blonde as a company would not be expected to cover this.

It's an APAT Open event, so anyone can play (including pro's)

I think Blonde should put together the strongest possible live MTT team that they can.

Really enjoyed this last year and quite tempted to put myself forward again, but can't really commit to it atm so will leave it to people who might actually have a chance of getting some points :)

In the spirit of the thread, I also agree that Asa would make an excellent captain.

There was some discussion last year as to how team was to be selected
last year i think it was mods appoint captain and captain picks team
in previous years mtt league was run
of course team could just be picked out hat

what does every body think how should team be selected assuming more than 8 confirm interest ?

Unless Tightly is going to select it of course.

I've actually sent Tighty a message asking him if he's ok with myself being captain ( going off the posts I'll assume most will be happy)

If/when that is sorted out, I'll want to get the team sorted asap, as I have to have all the money in advance, and to pay the team in online in advance. This is all assuming we get a place of course ( which shouldn't be an issue)

the captain has to collect the cash etc this year, so its a bit more onerous. If Asa wants it, seems ok for him to do it to me

Dont think so. Leave it all up to Asa as captain. Whoever is captain needs to let me know as I need to change the contact details with APAT, as I put the request in.

Think we get told which teams have a place after 15th December, but will check.

ETA/ Just checked. Teams are due to be announced by Friday 20th December. All monies have to be collected by the captain (£55pp) and sent to APAT by 12.00pm Friday 17th January 2014. Shirts then need to be arranged, but APAT will do this for £15 per shirt.

As always it's ridiciulously difficult to decide who is in and who misses out. Apologies to those that have missed out. I've gone for a mixture of players, those that I know can grind, those that I know will accumulate chips, reglars from the APAT tour, those who have been on Blonde a good while, as well as the newer players..but most importantly, all of these players I know will make the team a good one to play in and to be around.

The team is:

Amcgrath1uk ( captain)
Paul Ho ( vice captain)
Graham C
Rodders
Sharplea
Rexas
Borntobubble
Delboy

Congratulations to all those who have made the team, and again, commiserations to those missing out. I will be in touch soon regarding the details, but if you can, pm me your shirt size!!

The quality hotel is right by the casino and is currently only £40/night. It is an OK hotel too. Can I recommend this as the team hotel.

http://www.laterooms.com/en/p3623/hotel-reservations/13185_quality-hotel-stoke-on-trent.aspx

I would say book in quickly as it will sell out reasonably soon.

There is a cash championship event on the Friday night for anybody who fancies that, there is also a decent event on Sunday offering a an APAT WCOAP passport for the other teams who are not all still in the main event. I don't think I can get to this one until the Saturday but have booked in Sat and Sun night at the moment.

Looking forward to this one lot's.

Will DTD be wanting the team to be wearing any branding?

Hats? Patches? Etc

As the forum sponsors, I think they should be offered the chance to push their latest promotions.

I will be in touch soon regarding the details, but if you can, pm me your shirt size!!

 ;grr;

Hi Team Blonde

Really looking forward to this event now two weeks Saturday. When is everybody planning to travel to Stoke?

Just on the APAT forum btw and think you all need to read this page of their thread

http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?topic=14532.135

Can we please ensure that we deal with their teams at the event. Let's be honest it is not like it is hard to figure out who the better team is. They have got a former Europeans Champion in their team or something from a long long time ago. I hear he is a Sunderland fan.  ;whistle;

I'm going to trundle along Friday afternoon at some point.  May or may not play the cash tournament. On one hand I'd like something to do on Friday night, but on the other I'm terrible (prob should have mentioned this previously ;))  I'll definitely go to the casino to register either way.  Do they have a normal Friday night tournament on by any chance?

Hello Chief Scout Welcome to Blonde.

Has Technolog sent you on a scouting mission to compile a report on the Blonde Team? Oh - I hope he does not run the APAT team like they use to run the Roman Empire, when scouts came back with bad news about their teams prospects in the upcoming battle they use force them to stay sober for the whole weekend (or something like that anyway). I hope he is more understanding when you explain to him how little chance you have.

Blonde have recorded their first win of the weekend! I triumphed over a 6 man field, made up of myself and members of team Henson mob, in a DC hyper turbo sng, which took place in the lobby of the Holiday Inn during the small hours of the morning. To say that they were broken would be an understatement.

4 left. I think!

I'm out after losing AK< 55 and QJ<88

I will be on updates after dinner break! Does anyone know of APAT have out up the team photos yet? If so if you would kindly like to tell me where :)

I may need to give myself a drink cut off point for posting as well. I'm going to set it at about 8 pints and 4 jagers.

We don't seem to have any players through to Day 2

Next time we're picking EPT, WPT and WSOP winners and refusing them entry to the bar first.

Nope, it's fair to say we ran pretty horrendously.

Nut flush into full house
Nut flush draw vs 10 hi flush draw and lost
Matt Harris ran into AA 4 times in 5 hands
Adam Sharples all in pre AQ v AJ and was more or less dead on the turn
Rodders ran into the only actual hand that could beat him

Graham ran deepest, spending a  good few hours on the feature table, and was finally knocked out in the 40s.

Just like to say enjoyed the weekend even though  as ASA mentioned above the results never went our way , you need a bit of luck aswell and this time it didn't happen , met a load of new faces who i hope to play with across the table in the future !!
This has to be one of the best team events of the year , a bunch of great players getting together , having a drink and in some cases playing a bit of poker LOL  :D :D
hope to see more of BLONDES in the future - can't wait !!
