Greyhound Derby 2014 - Fantasy Kennel Competition

I ran this competition last year and it was well received so I thought we should go with it again. Last year's thread: http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=61133.0

The competition costs £20 to enter, by bank transfer, and you will randomly be assigned a number of greyhounds (probably 6-10) to form your 'Fantasy Kennel' with points given to you based on their performances throughout the competition. Each person can have up to two entries.

The Greyhound Derby 2014 begins with the first round races on Thursday the 1st, Friday the 2nd and Saturday the 3rd of May with the competition running throughout May, culminating in the final on the 31st. All races are available to view I believe with the first two rounds on RPGTV on the RP website and Sky channel 212, with the rest of the competition live on Sky Sports.

There are 212 greyhounds entered this year and a simple explanation of the Derby is that they race in each round with (usually) 3 greyhounds going through from each race until we are left with 6 for the final.

No skill necessary to enter and I will update after each round.

First Round: 01/05, 02/05, 03/05
Second Round: 09/05, 10/05
Third Round: 17/05
Quarters: 20/05
Semis: 24/05
Final: 31/05


Points System:

1st Round Heats 1st place: 5pts; 2nd place: 3pts; 3rd place 1pt - minus 5pts if eliminated at this stage

2nd Round Heats 1st place: 10pts, 2nd place: 6pts, 3rd place: 3pts - plus 5pts if eliminated at this stage

3rd Round Heats 1st place: 15pts, 2nd place: 8pts, 3rd place: 5pts - plus 8pts if eliminated at this stage

Quarter Finals 1st place: 20pts, 2nd place: 13pts, 3rd place: 7pts - plus 15pts if eliminated at this stage

Semi Finals 1st place: 25pts, 2nd place: 17pts, 3rd place: 10pts - plus 20pts if eliminated at this stage

Final 1st place: 75pts; 2nd place: 60pts; 3rd place: 50pts; 4th place: 40pts; 5th place: 35pts; 6th place: 30pts

Additional Rules

- if your dog is withdrawn before any round it is deemed to have been eliminated in the round it was due to race in.

The prize for last was suggested last year but think it got the thumbs down due to the fact that it can be decided fairly quickly. Happy to go with it if the general consensus agree.

Greyhound Derby 1st Round

The first round of the Derby takes place over 3 days: today, tomorrow and Saturday. You score points based on how your 10 greyhounds perform in their individual heats. The scoring system for each round is in the opening post, but here is the first round scoring system:

1st Round Heats 1st place: 5pts; 2nd place: 3pts; 3rd place 1pt - minus 5pts if eliminated at this stage

The points may seem miniscule but it was very tight at the top last year so every point counts.

You can find your kennel by going back a few posts in this thread.

Below is the links to each of the three days of the 1st round so those interested can view their races. All of the first round races are available to watch on either the RP website or on channel 212 on Sky.

Not great. Lumped on Lough Messi in the opener so was chasing bad after that. One winner at 2/1 and one EW which paid just shy of 2/1. Get it back tomorrow.
