Title: RSQ by Baldock
Post by: baldock92 on May 14, 2014, 12:03:43 AM
Rules

There are 12 questions, to enter you should PM your answers by Monday 19th May 20:00.  Please put RSQ in the subject line (otherwise you will receive an additional penalty point to your score), and put each answer on a different line (same penalty for ignoring this as well).

Your score for each question is number of people who give the same correct answer. So you want to go for answers that you think will be less commonly given. Levelling commonly happens. The answer most commonly given is called the sheep, with the corresponding sheep score.

You are not allowed to do research such as Google searches to come up with answers. These aren’t meant to be impossible questions the skill isn’t in thinking of an answer, it’s in thinking up an uncommon answer

If you give an incorrect answer, you will receive the sheep score +5.

You MUST pass on one question and score a 0 for that question, and you may not pass questions 11 or 12.

Objections will be considered during the reveal, however my decision will be final. The reveal will likely take place on Monday 19th May.  If there is a tie for the lead after the 11 rounds, then there will be a tie-break question. This will be given on the evening of the reveal and will probably be a closest-wins type affair.

QUESTIONS

1.   Name an English County which both starts AND ends with a consonant.

2.   Name any of the 20 premier league clubs (2013-2014 season).

3.   Name any Country with a population above 100 million.

4.   Name any winner of the US Masters golf since 1990.

5.   Name any casino on the Las Vegas Strip which both starts AND ends with a consonant.

6.   Name a current daily British newspaper.

7.   Name the colour of any ball on a snooker table.

8.   Name any of the top 25 selling music artists of all time.

9.   Name any of the current flavours of original Walkers crisps (This excludes variations such as Sensations, Monster Munch, Doritos etc.: Original flavours only).

10.   Name a Country where Spanish is an OFFICIAL language.

You CANNOT pass any of the next 2 questions:

11. Choose any whole number between 20-50, with this number being the number of points you risk getting penalised. BUT: If you choose the highest number out of all the entries, you get penalised that number of points. If you choose the lowest number out of all the entries, you get a penalty equal to that of the person who chose the highest number). All other answers in between the highest and lowest answers score 0. Choose wisely!

12.   As always, select an answer that has been given for any of the previous questions.

Good luck!

what is classified as a county is rather difficult to define: administrative, ceremonial, etc etc.

This will tilt a few people...

By that same notion you could answer the 'colour of the ball on a snooker table' you could say lime, i put my tennis ball on their once. The idea of it being a snooker ball is implied in the question, as is the idea that it's a current county.

Oi! Good job I showed up. City of London is a county FFS.

And Sussex isn't.

Oh shite, I've been looking at the wrong list this whole time for english counties. You're correct, sussex is not a country (west sussex is) and City of London IS.

This will tilt a few people...

2 minutes whilst this is corrected. Thank god when this is over...

Genuinely tilted.

Only genuinely tiled myself, like a lovely Bathroom floor.

You should do the online equivalent of the guy who ripped his aces up and threw them at the dealer before threatening to burn the place down. Then Baldock can issue the first RSQ D Q.

But in other questions there is an indication of time. CURRENT British daily newspaper, season given for the premier league clubs. Is it not fair to assume given that its mentioned in other places, if it's omitted then it has been for a reason?

I wanted to exclude it originally however I am suitably convinced by the idea that if you explicitly state 'current' in other questions then its absence here could suggest that any county is acceptable.

I will allow Sussex as a correct answer.

Highest Answer (1)

39 (Ironside). Rubbish2407 and Jono3131 were leading the way with 38 until our last entry of the quiz, ironside came and trumped them at the very last minute. Very noble.

Lowest answer (1)

You've played the quiz before, and know that they're the rules- if you were a first timer I would have let you off!

It's not a question of letting me off. You meant to ask for an answer that had been given by a different contestant, but you messed up the wording and asked for us to "select an answer that has been given for any of the previous questions". I knew that my answer had been given for a previous question cos I gave it, and I was pretty sure that no-one else would have, so it was not only guaranteed to be correct, but an ace.

You come along tonight and quote the wording you meant to use as if that is what you had put all along.

My answer was correct for the question you asked. You can't change the question during the reveal to the one you meant to ask.
