Title: UKIP - First Seat won. Post by: ForthThistle on October 10, 2014, 06:52:23 PM Interested in peoples thoughts on UKIP winning a Seat in last Nights By-Election.
Is this the Start of Many? Are UKIP just a form of BNP/NF. Debate Away. Title: Re: UKIP - First Seat won. Post by: Woodsey on October 10, 2014, 07:01:26 PM lol, why do people start getting all 'they are BNP/NF' as soon as a party want to tighten immigration? Is it not a legitimate policy to have or something?

Title: Re: UKIP - First Seat won. Post by: Royal Flush on October 10, 2014, 07:41:36 PM I don't agree with a lot of what they say but its absurd to imply they are like the BNP/NF.
The rise of the UKIP will I guess play into the hands of Labour. Title: Re: UKIP - First Seat won. Post by: Doobs on October 10, 2014, 11:22:08 PM I don't agree with a lot of what they say but its absurd to imply they are like the BNP/NF. Easy mistake to make, as shown by Neil Hamilton, deputy chair of Ukip is the party for "decent supporters of the BNP", its deputy chairman Neil Hamilton has said. The former Tory MP told the BBC that there were "a lot of decent people" who had previously voted for the BNP, because they felt their concerns about immigration were not being heard. "They feel their communities are being swamped by immigrants from outside, whether they are from Eastern Europe or from other parts of the world. "Now those people, the decent supporters of the BNP, from the last election, who weren't true BNP supporters at all, I am sure that quite a few of them are voting for a respectable alternative, which is Ukip." The party unveiled the slogan "Love Britain. Vote Ukip" at its Spring conference, which commentators were quick to note the similarity to the BNP's former tagline "Love Britain. Vote BNP." Leader Nigel Farage said it was "our slogan now". http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2014/04/28/ukip-bnp_n_5225308.html To be fair, I thought this was UKIPT thread too. Should have remained as the BNP, pretty hard to get that confused with the GUKPT. Title: Re: UKIP - First Seat won. Post by: Rexas on October 11, 2014, 10:22:06 AM I don't know if any of you have been to Clacton, but if UKIP are planning to stop people moving into that area then as far as I'm concerned they're doing the world a favour.
Title: Re: UKIP - First Seat won. Post by: MintTrav on October 11, 2014, 11:25:02 AM Think they have made a tactical error in going for by-elections. There have been plenty of switches in the past that didn't lead to by-elections. It's easy when they know they are going to win the seat, but they have just given the other parties and the public an opportunity to trash them if any future switchers don't do the same. Potential Tory switchers in the next Parliament might be put off going through with it if it is uncertain whether they would hold.

Post by: Matt.NFFC. on October 11, 2014, 01:23:27 PM Seeing as immigration is being raised, I'll just give you my 2p worth.
I work for a large national company as a shift manager of about 120 people on shift. We use an agency to supply a lot of our workforce, and of the 75 on the register, only 6 have an english name...... Now, there are a lot of good people on that list, a few I would class as a friend, but I think it is too much, and I'm sure it is like this all over the country. Personally, I'd like to see a huge reduction, and I wonder where all the local lads are working as it's not minimum wage, and it is an ok place to work. I don't think these comments are out of order, I just want to see it reduced because this massive national influx of foreign workers must take it's toll on public services, and, it will make my job easier if more locals had jobs. The reality for me is politics is a load of shite where nothing changes. UKIP will get bigger/stronger, but that just helps Labour doesn't it? Title: Re: UKIP - First Seat won. What I want to see is the Brits that are on benefits get the jobs first, if they don't take a job when offered they lose their benefits unless they have a very good reason why they can't do that job. We can then plug the gaps with all the immigrants necessary. Friend of mine who has recently came to the uk and found a job within 3 days of being here in a factory, they are short of staff there and crying out for staff. Why people on benefits can't be forced into these jobs beats me. Title: Re: UKIP - First Seat won. Title: Re: UKIP - First Seat won. Post by: ripple11 on October 12, 2014, 06:11:00 PM When we opened our language school in London in 2002, the world and his wife outside the EU could easily get student visas to enter the UK...and then stay and work.
Since then it has progressively got much more difficult to get these visas, to such an extent I can count on my hands the number of students we have atm from outside the EU. However EU students have been aplenty. The vast majority are young, and keen to study and work. The Polish for example, came to us in vast numbers in the mid to late 2000's ...working during the day, studying English in the evening. As we know, many of these have now they have settled here, and naturally have had families. Obviously this puts pressure on jobs, healthcare, schools. London for example needs to find 100,000+ more primary school places in the next couple of years. In the last couple of years our Polish numbers have declined, and the Spanish have taken over. The poor economic climate in Spain means the majority of our students are now Spanish. Again almost all young , keen to study to improve their english so they can find work.....and work they do!...because they need to live and pay school fees ;) So the more immigration the better with my business head on.!.......not so sure it's so good with my other head. Post by: Kmac84 on October 12, 2014, 06:33:48 PM Part of the problem with an immigration debate is there are far too many thickos who don't understand it to start with and like to blame Johnny Foreigner for everything because the Daily Mail says so.
Secondly, political parties use the whole debate as a vote winner and are neither consistent of ethical in their approach imho. "British jobs for british workers" was a laboour slogan, well the BNP would have been proud of that one. Regards the UKIP being another BNP, well in short no. They are just a much more extreme version of the tories all for big business, tax cuts for the rich and bashing up the poor. The BNP despite their racism were much more left than UKIP, some may argue more left than Labour used to be. Title: Re: UKIP - First Seat won.
