lol, why do people start getting all 'they are BNP/NF' as soon as a party want to tighten immigration? Is it not a legitimate policy to have or something?

Easy mistake to make, as shown by Neil Hamilton, deputy chair of BNP UKIP

Ukip is the party for "decent supporters of the BNP", its deputy chairman Neil Hamilton has said.

The former Tory MP told the BBC that there were "a lot of decent people" who had previously voted for the BNP, because they felt their concerns about immigration were not being heard.

"They feel their communities are being swamped by immigrants from outside, whether they are from Eastern Europe or from other parts of the world.

"Now those people, the decent supporters of the BNP, from the last election, who weren't true BNP supporters at all, I am sure that quite a few of them are voting for a respectable alternative, which is Ukip."

The party unveiled the slogan "Love Britain. Vote Ukip" at its Spring conference, which commentators were quick to note the similarity to the BNP's former tagline "Love Britain. Vote BNP."

Leader Nigel Farage said it was "our slogan now".

To be fair, I thought this was UKIPT thread too.  Should have remained as the BNP, pretty hard to get that confused with the GUKPT.

I don't know if any of you have been to Clacton, but if UKIP are planning to stop people moving into that area then as far as I'm concerned they're doing the world a favour.

Think they have made a tactical error in going for by-elections. There have been plenty of switches in the past that didn't lead to by-elections. It's easy when they know they are going to win the seat, but they have just given the other parties and the public an opportunity to trash them if any future switchers don't do the same. Potential Tory switchers in the next Parliament might be put off going through with it if it is uncertain whether they would hold.

I don't know if any of you have been to Clacton, but if UKIP are planning to stop people moving into that area then as far as I'm concerned they're doing the world a favour.

Seeing as immigration is being raised, I'll just give you my 2p worth.

I work for a large national company as a shift manager of about 120 people on shift.  We use an agency to supply a lot of our workforce, and of the 75 on the register, only 6 have an english name......

Now, there are a lot of good people on that list, a few I would class as a friend, but I think it is too much, and I'm sure it is like this all over the country.  Personally, I'd like to see a huge reduction, and I wonder where all the local lads are working as it's not minimum wage, and it is an ok place to work.

I don't think these comments are out of order, I just want to see it reduced because this massive national influx of foreign workers must take it's toll on public services, and, it will make my job easier if more locals had jobs.

The reality for me is politics is a load of shite where nothing changes.  UKIP will get bigger/stronger, but that just helps Labour doesn't it?

I have no problem with immigration per se. What I want to see is the Brits that are on benefits get the jobs first, if they don't take a job when offered they lose their benefits unless they have a very good reason why they can't do that job. We can then plug the gaps with all the immigrants necessary.

Friend of mine who has recently came to the uk and found a job within 3 days of being here in a factory, they are short of staff there and crying out for staff. Why people on benefits can't be forced into these jobs beats me.

Where did I say they were thick? Just find it ironic that in a town 97% white they are so up in arms about immigration. Plus the irony of "politicians do nothing" and then voting in the guy who has been your MP for last 9 years
