In a thread about saving money that specifically states "who needs Martin Lewis" the man has already been referenced in 4 out of 7 posts (not including this one).

I love the idea of this thread but I suspect most of the posts will just be links to mse.

I know many people don't like Mr Lewis but his website is amazing.

This is what I'm proposing.


I will sell a total of 49 virtual lottery tickets at a cost of £30 per ticket.

I will keep a tally of which numbers are sold and to whom on a separate thread.

When all the tickets are sold, the number of the bonus ball from the following week's National Lottery draw will be the winning ticket number.

From the proceeds, I will donate £200 to a charity of the winner's choice.

I will deliver the piece to the winner.

Where did you get it from Tom?  Passed down through the family?  It is an amazing piece.

I bought it as an investment almost 40 years ago from Sinclairs in Bawtry Arby. We've always loved it but the truth is, it's a bit big for a caravan.

You might want to check out how often the "special offers" appear on these.  The Ad-free version is an extra tenner and not included in the 6 pack offer.  It might be OK but you should check it out.

Erm, Amazon Fire 7, I think it is, didn't really pay much attention to what I ordered, it does play youtube videos, can browse the internet perfectly, I can download books.

Can confirm none of the 6 I received have adverts on.

And it plays you tube, great for Plex media server too. I did have some trouble registering one of the devices but a quick 2 minute call from Amazon sorted that issue. Actually the support service was just unreal. I clicked on a button on the Amazon support website labelled 'call me' and within 30 seconds my mobile rang and it was Amazon.

what do people think of this compared to an Ipad air 2 or samsung galaxy tab 2

Saved money on broadband and phone line today, I'm feeling quite pleased.

BT wanted £48 pm for phone line and rental (inc BT Sports charge) and were only prepared to knock £2.50 off for 6 months if I resigned for 12 months so I've moved to Virgin.  100mb internet (so faster) and phone line for £26.99 for 12 months and then £39.49 for the remaining 6 months plus £25 credit.  OK I don't have BT Sport anymore but I don't really watch that much anyway and I'd rather save over £330 over the 18 month period.    Their online deal is the discount rate for 9 months and no £25 credit but I asked if it was the best they could do or should I go through the cashback sites, she put me on hold and came back with the better deal.

Quite happy, I never had a problem with Virgin broadband before and only moved due to the free BT Sport.

Living in middle of no where so can't get Virgin otherwise I would be on it

I've been through my dear old ma's bills and whatnot recently.

Got her gas/leccy down from £200 a month to £80 a month
Got her home insurance down from £528 to £99 a year
Got her car insurance down from £500 a year to £350 a year

All straightforward price comparison site stuff, nothing too taxing

If your parents are a bit older and not so internet/money savvy, I'd urge you to once a year give their bills a whizz through price comparison sites. Unfortunately it's the more vulnerable folks who end up paying the most for their bills.

Walked into my parent's house recently and the thermostat was on 26C - spent an hour or so on uswitch and quidco and saved them £520 a year.

Just reduced my electric/gas bill by £30 a month via the offgen money saving site, worth a look very easy to do.

I have saved a fair bit switching to Ovo and I feel far more in control of my bill's and the customer service is pretty incredible for a utility company.  I'd suggest them to anyone. 

Ovo are very good, was with them for 3 years straight which was unusual for me but switched last month to SSE as the price difference was too much to ignore this time.
