Title: win a seat at a live event on blonde TONIGHT
Post by: Ironside on April 18, 2006, 03:59:57 PM
tonight at 8:30 we have our first blonde poker (http://www.blondepokerleague.com) sat into a live event
the live event is a £150+£15 freezeout at cincins in glasgow hosted by mad marty wilson

the cost of the sat is $30 +3$ and for every $290 in the pool blonde will pay for a seat into the comp

good luck too all that enter and hope to see some blonde at cincins as i hopefully will be there even if i dont win my seat

this is a good chance for those without live experiance to win a seat in a large event that should have a good atmosphere

and a number of top scottish players and blondes should be playing

Ok this is funny, Ironside has no internet access for the next few hours so his $30 is dead money.

He WILL NOT be making it into the comp!

Valyooooooooooooooooooo!

Wasn't aware there was a minimum number for this!

Why has it been cancelled?

good point - from what I read BP were GUARANTEEING  at least one seat, which means it should have gone ahead with the six runners..

cancelled tournaments are a pain in the arse.. is there a way they can just go ahead even if there is only two or three players...  waiting around for them to start and then not playing drives me nuts

Would any mods like to set the record straight?

I don't want to be having to change my plans on Thursday as I have done tonight only for the comp to be pulled.

I would if I could, but I know absolutely nothing about this. I don't even know what the Mad Marty Freezeout is about.

But I will try & find out for you.

My personal view is that it's a bit early in our stage of development to be running Satellites for Live Events, we need to walk before we run, & there's plenty of time to build from the base up, slowly & steadily.

But that's no consolation to you guys.

I will ask Baron to Post an explanation.

But from reading this thread, the deal was that blonde would guarantee a seat for every $290 in the pool, with entry set at $30 + $3.

Its not a blonde thing its a tribeca thing.

The tournaments just cant run with less than 9, there is no way of chaning it

Hey all, what Flushy says here is essentially correct. Tribecca have no way of a comp running with less than 9. There is just no way. If there was a way to have a smaller satellite we would happily have one. Annoying I know. The blondepoker specials were the same. There'd be 7 of us seated and it would be cancelled and we'd have to wait 30 mins to try and round 9 up for the next one.

The guarantee of the seat was made under the premise that the comp would start. One thing that has been quite vocal from the forum members about the cardroom is guarantees on events. Alas, when we guarantee a seat we still cant get enough runners to start it.

The idea of the satellite was put forward by a few of yous and, with Iron's backing of the idea, I went with it. We obviously did NOT think the satellite would get less than 9 runners otherwise we wouldn't have gone with it.

Please bear with us at this deveopment stage guys. The good news is Tribecca are working on private one table satellites for the near future.

Apologies for it being cancelled - I hope to see more of you on Thursday evening.

np Baron,

instead I just took down a $50 STT instead, which should just about cover my buyin. :)

I have actually already registered and bought in for the event anyway, with my winnngs from last week at cincins..

Fair enough Baron, I can't believe we couldn't fill a 9 seater for this, there were 7 registered with a couple of minutes to the off & I presumed we would get a few last minute stragglers.

Line up looked as good as a bye as well  ;scarymoment;

Good effort Laz. I have found blonde STTs to have a good structure the rocks cant hide behind! ;)

With Iron back on his PC by Thurs and with a little earlier promotion from us two, we'll try getting Thursday's one going for yous.

As it happens, even though I cannot make the Event, I would have played the Satellite had I realised it was short of players. In the (unlikely) event that I won, I'd have passed the seat on to a blondeite at either a discount, or a "shared" no pay/split% thingy.

That's the flip side of not spamming it much in advance, or not much at all. It's that "balance" thing again.

Why not have the latest BP cardroom events in the (currently unusued) news box at the top left of the page?

It's on every page anyway...

"a little earlier promotion". Just be careful here Aaron. It's difficult to get the right blance here. The blondes have registered their disapproval of us over-spamming the card-room, so it needs hamdling carefully.

Too much - bad.

Too little = bad......!

I was at cincinnati this afternoon and was registered for the sat but had to pull out as i was still in the tournament at cin. There were at least 4 people there who wanted to but couldn't because of the tournament at cin. Tuesday and Thursday are the 2 busiest days at cincin. Is there no way the sat could be moved to a different time possibly Sunday afternoon to give the people who play at cincinnati on these days to have a go?

Thats  a good point but to be fair Baron wouldn't know this. He's tried to put on a comp. that was suggested & for one reason or another it hasn't quite worked out.

Sunday would prolly have less runners than tonight as its Celtic v Rangers.

I don't envy you your job Baron   ;)

I'm grateful for the sat's being on, i was sure there would be a good response. Does anyone now how much interest has been shown it the actual event yet?

P.S. Thanks for trying Baron

I will speak to Ironside tomorrow about a different day. Thursday's satellite will stay on there but I'll get another one added if people can generally agree a day for it.

tikay - lol, don't I know it boss! ;)

More feedback on this thread would be appreciated guys.

Thanks.

So Tribeca cant cope with a tournament with less than 9 entrants.......

So Tribeca cant cope with paying out more than 27 people regardless of the number of runners..........

So Tribeca have an awful blind structure with levels more suited to "turbo" tournaments.........

Please, could somebody remind me of the good points of the Tribeca software - surely they need to do something about updating their archaic software package?

27 soon to be corrected, blind structure is fine.

The good points, some of the softest games on the net....do you need another?

They will be able to cope with less than 9 entrants soon. They will also be able to have private STTs soon. The software is being upgraded.

I can alter the blind levels for any comp.

The games are soft.

Just a suggestion, but could we possible run a poll of who on here is actually playing on Blonde on a regular basis and perhaps maybe set up a private forum a bit like the mods forum and we can debate out the tourney ideas until the cows come home once if therew as a dedicated part of the forum for blonde players to air their views I think it may be more constructive simply because there would be conatsnt feedback given and the thread would not dissapear after a few hours!

Good to hear Bandit.

Please put any comments you have in the stickied thread at the top with the schedule in it. For now cardroom stuff will be staying in General Discussion as it is by far the most viewed board and we're just starting off really, but in time I'm sure the cardroom will have it's own board. Good post though.

You don't have to get rid of your existing software.

What problems are you having perhaps someone could talk you through them here as a few folk had teething problems.

The software allows me to register for real money.  I enter my info on the website which pops-up, after the final screen and ticking the agreement to terms and conditions I'm shown everything I just entered.

That's it.  I'm sure this info is supposed to be sent to the server for processing a real account, rather than back to me :)

Manager has no clue.  20 mins trying so far.

Manager states "Hhmmmmm" as if a clue is forthcoming.  Then asks me to hold so he can find the Clue Manager and request a clue from him.

Update...  Clue support are looking into it.  There is clearly a glitch in the clue department.  I have to try again in 30 minutes, presumably so the clueless manager can clock off his shift and pass the buck to the next poor sod.

Surely the moral of the story is to have a stable platform for a poker room?

I don't remember it taking an hour to join any poker room previously.  Nor being passed from pillar to post with a technical query, nor being made to feel at fault for not being aware of who can sort out what.

Mr Moves, I know of no-one else who has had this problem. So it is not an "unstable platform" for a poker room. They are simply just having technical problems.

I am sorry if my PM made you feel at fault. I was just pointing out that in future, coming to me first is beneficial in sorting out teething problems.

I hope they sort it for you soon.

My account now works.  I'm yet to deposit because, quite frankly, I'm astonished at the last hour and 25 mins.

I thought it would be fun and supportive of Blonde to try the poker room.  Teething problems I can accept.  I am the customer, though.  As such I expect customer service.  Only now, after much badgering, have I been given this by the online manager.

When I buy a new car will the salesman let me test it as a favour or because he'll get my business if I like what I see?

I'm sorry Mr Moves had this problem. We apologise.

As we have said before, if you have a problem with the blonde cardroom, drop a PM to Aaron. He was "worked through" a whole heap of problems so far, for many people, most of them successfully.

I had some teething probelms but in all my dealings with the help desk and BPL I have had no probelms whatsoever.

I also had another issue today a PM to Aaron and it was sorted in 5 minutes.  Cheers mate.

I have another gripe but rather than moan about it I have dropped Arron a line and I expect that this will also be sorted.

All in all I am enjoying blonde on the downside my bank manager isn't!!

The only think I want now is for the cash games to be deleted - they just cause me probelms!  :D

On Tuesday Laz played a $50 STT instead & won his buyin, on Thursday I won a $30 MTT so thats me sorted. Scottish Dave has paid for his buyin today on the Crypto cash tables & a few others are playing Bandits Sat tonight at the club.
