You should ask for photos of the young French dealer (and I don't mean Bruno).

Double Dodet

Straight into action is Daniel (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=83) Dodet (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=83). With just 9k at the start of the day, he was looking for a spot to move and did so moments ago SHIPPING it with T-J.

With Dodet's stack at less than ten big blinds, James Bagley decided his range was wide enough that a call with 3-3 was justified and call he did!

But what was going on here?? One quick check with professional Antonio (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=815) Esfandiari (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=815) look-a-like and popular French blogger Benjo cleared it up.

The race was won emphatically by Dodet as an ace, queen and king all appeared to give him the broadway straight, taking a cheeky bite out of Bagley's stack and doubling him through to just under 20k...

Is Paul King in or out? Twice he was reported as being out (once by me) and he's on the player list. Are there 2 of them?

It's not Chris Bruce's day. Aces cracked by Kings then pushed 5-5 and got called by A-Q, his opponent didn't pair up but didn't need to when the board came 7-7-7-T-7...

Kirk Moyce has doubled up his very short stack calling all-in with Qd 7d against Paula Cowling's Td Th after a very helpful board ran out 8c 6s 3s 5d 4c, he's still only got a little over 12k though.

James Bagley is out after Justin Devonport got very lucky on the river.

Bagley bet 5,300 on the 9d 2c 9h flop, 7,800 on the 3d turn and moved in on the 8h river with Devonport calling him the whole way with 8c 8d, Bagley's Aces proving no good on the end.

Legend Down

Mickey Wernick is sat on the sidelines watching the aston villa - everton game, sadly sipping a cup of tea. And here's reason he is sat on the rail.

He raised it up with pocket Tc Ts, picking up two callers.

The flop fell 7s 9s Js, and with jsut over a pot-size bet left, he moved all-in understandably.

"I'm hoping no one would have anything there..."

Bad luck befell the bearded luminary however as lurking in wait was the Aspades Qs for the nuts. With just one out left to save him the black eight on the turn was the wrong suit to complete his straight flush and when the river blanked, Mickey Wernick was no more!

John Simons has been knocked out by Ghalib Hussain when the latter's Ahrt Kc prevailed vs Qd Qc on a Jd Kh 9s 5d 5c board.

On the next table, James Tomlin is a gonna after 4-betting all-in from the cutoff with Qd Qs but running into Daryl Moore's Ahrt Ad.

Sick Hand!

A huge pot just played out between Te Ng (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2741) Cao (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2741) and Kassim Kurbanali.

It started with Te raising it up to 4k, only for Kassim to re-raise to 10k.

Te now made it 25k - and Kassim flat called!

A board of 9d 6s 3c saw Te lead out for 20k, which was called by Kassim. Tense faces and hushed whispers abounded as the two combatants faced off in what was already close to a 100k pot.

The turn was the 5d and Te now moved all-in for Kassim's last 40k...

Kassim considered his options carefully under the huge weight of chip pressure applied by Te...

Amidst the sanctuary of peace and quiet offered the two players at this dramatic moment, NoFlops crashed into action, snapping the two in action with his camera, whilst simultaneously dropping his notepad on the head of a fellow player and apologising loudly enough to shatter the tense silence that was pervading.

(He took a great shot of the moment though)

Eventually Kassim passed what he later revealed was jacks, whilst a ballsy Te had pulled the play off with ace-king, we heard!

Sho shick!

Yes the Paul King you know, chirpy fellow, bit light on top is OUT. One of the first casualties yesterday.

The Paul King still in is a different man entirely (this one has hair!)...

John Exley, who in Barry Neville-speak is known as the "pill**k from Barnsley" just trebled up to 50k or so.

Holding Jacks, he moved over the top of a Kassim Kurbanali raise for his last 15k, and was called in one spot behind and by Kassim.

Kassim moved in on the jack-high flop, receiving a fold from the other live player and must have felt confident with his pocket queens, till he saw Exley had spiked top set.

An overkill jack on the turn hammered the final nail into Kassim's chances of winning the pot and the man who started the day right at the top of the leaderboard has seen his stock plummet in the opening stages...

Daniel Ward faced a giant overbert all-in on the turn of a Jh 3h 7s Qs board for his whole stack and took a good five minutes of consideration before folding, he got shown Aspades 3s for his trouble which made him grimace due to no doubt folding the best hand at that point.

Fifteen minutes into level eleven - the second of the day - we have seen twenty exits in the first hour.

65 remain with the blinds at 800/1600/200.

The average stack stands at 45,230 and the decent structure means there is room for play...

Nick (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=306) Hicks (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=306) has dropped from his earlier heady heights. "Queens versus Sixes and he four-flushed and then I had King Jack vs Ace King on a King high board," he said glumly.

Daniel (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=83) Dodet (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=83) has doubled his micro stack through Imran Mckenzie, his Ad 2h looked in bad shape against Ac Qc and he asked the dealer for a 3-4-5 flop. She went one better dealing a 5s 9d 2d Jd Th board, the experience was short-lived though as he went out just a couple of hands later.

Rod wants me to put dead as a Dodet. But I'm not going to. So there.

Cowen's Cowboys

Robert Cowen has doubled through to around 30k, his pocket kings hoilding versus tens for his stack - a king hitting the turn to seal the double up.

One quick check with professional Antonio (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=815) Esfandiari (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=815) look-a-like and popular French blogger Benjo cleared it up.

The race was won emphatically by Dodet as an ace, queen and king all appeared to give him the broadway straight, taking a cheeky bite out of Bagley's stack and doubling him through to just under 20k...

wtf that wasn't me lol. That was seat 8, Joe (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2108) Stevenson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2108) I think his name was.

My bust out hand was so irritating, it was a 80k pot lawl. He was on the FT of the GUKPT side event I took down and even though I'd been tight aggressive all tourney he definately thinks of me as a complete lagtard. I don't have to bust as I can check fold river (he can only bet houses and quads) but I'm pretty sure he heroes 100% of the time with any two pair to my 23k shove into 34k as he completely thinks I'm capable of spewy three barrells.

Double Dodet

Straight into action is Daniel (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=83) Dodet (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=83). Raising the button with Ahrt Kh, he instantly called the big blind shove, who showed down pocket nines. An ever-so-standard hand really.

Needing to win the flip, he watched the board peel off 5d 7s 9s, leaving him drawing almost dead and he stood up and put on his coat as the board finished out Kd Tc.

He was covered and sadly offered "Just can't win those key flips" as he made a swift exit out of the DT (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/)D (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/) doors.

See you soon redbull.

FAQ's -  Can I have two diamonds on the flop?

Mohammed Ashfaq was all-in with Ad 9d against Ghassan Chehbi's 5d 5s in a flip for his tournament life and flopped good when the board came 8d Tc 3d giving him lots of outs, the turn gave even more coming the 7s and the 2d got him there on the river.

Things have just gone from bad to worse for Chehbi who was one of the chip leaders before. David Brown just pushed with 4's for 21k vs Chehbi's raise with Kings and rivered a four to knock the latter further down the pecking order.

Daniel Rudd just went out pushing with Qh Th from the cutoff for about 25k and being called by small blind Daryl Moore's Aspades Jd with the board not helping either coming 8s 5d 6h 2s 4s.

Adrian Swingler raises to 5k in the small blind, Sam Trickett makes it 15k from the big blind. Call.

6c Jd Qh

Swinger quickly throws out 10k, Trickett shoves, Swingler instantly folds.

It's not all good news for Sam though, he's lost 3 out of 3 flips today so far, the latest being a pair of Nines against Mad Turk's K-T after the latter caught a cowboy to survive.

Kassim Kubanali has not had the best of fortune today.

Raising it up to 6k from early position John Exley made the call and the two went heads up to a T-T-2 flop.

10k from Kassim, shove from Exley for 50k, call by Kassim, who tabled A-A.

Bad luck Kassim - Exley showed down A-T for trips! No one out and Kassim, who started the day as the chip leader, is OUT!

A whopping 100k pot was shipped to the man from Barnsley - "come on!" grinned an ecstatic Barry Neville, partly no doubt pleased to see a mate from Yorkshire prospering, partly as he has a cut of him.

As to how those two feelings are divided, I'm not going to offer a percentage split as I don't have BUPA insurance!

Reganomics...

Big pot went the way of Paul Regan, courtesy of Daryl Moore but the river of the Ts 8h Kh 4c 7h brought the flush which slowed both down, Moore showed Kc Qh but Regan's Tc 4d was good.

M3boy has had a rollercoaster ride today. He was down to 6k after making a move with bottom pair that didn't work out well, but within a round he had a newly minted stack of 70k.

Most of these chips were gained as he raised on the button with a 35k stack and A-K, only for the big blind to move all-in.

Paul nitrolled for a while before calling to find himself up against pocket fours.

An ace turned to double him through to 70k, leaving him just below average with 40 left...

Te Ng Cao has been turning up the heat on his table, raising frequently with his big stack.

He must be raising some real filth at times though...a few moments ago he raised up to 7k, only to face a re-raise all-in from a shortstack's 22k.

Getting over 2-1 he tanked before throwing his bag of spanners away with only minimal damage done to his whopping 150k-ish stack.

Dan Carter has just done for David Brown.

Seeing a flop three way after raising pre-flop, Dan shipped it in with kings on a T-8-x board and was called by Brown's A-8.

No snowmen or bullets and the name sake of blonde's own curly-haired Carter gets a big boon to his tournament hopes.

John Exley has knocked out Hassan Abbas. Abbas had pushed for 18k and it was passed around to Exley in the small blind who hadn't seen the shove and raised with A-9. He reluctantly made the call but found himself dominating Abbas, knocking him out of the tournament.

Sebba opens mid (I think, not sure about position) and Toby 3bet ships it in with KJ for around 40k. Seb nitrolls AK and Toby runs good yah.

He's chipped away a few pots since and looks to be back on around 60k now.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Boulden

After a period of quiet, where only a couple of players were eliminated over an entire level, the pace is picking up here.

Benjamin Boulden just succumbed, seeing a flop with 5-7 with Paul (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=328) King (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=328) the second.

He liked the look of the T-T-7 flop but once he fired his chips in and King made the call, he was in big trouble versus K-T.

No miracle runner runner quads and King reigned supreme whilst Boulden was outta here!

The similarity with the greater-known Paul King is, er, uncanny!

Dan Brown's Novels Makes A Bad Read

Raise to 8k from Te Ng Cao, call from Dan Brown.

Td 3c 7d

Brown quickly leads for 15k and Cao makes it 35k. Brown looks as uncomfortable as I did reading the start of the Da Vinci Code and gives up the pot.

Barry Neville points to Cao and Aaron Fisher , "Them kidz are raisin' t' button every fookin' time it comes to them, you 'ave to be eeble to play back with 'owt."

Rana Gurnham has dropped a chunk reraising all-in over the top of Toby Lewis before Mark Docherty called in behind. Lewis shook his head and folded and Gurnham flipped Aspades Qc, dominated by the Ac Kc of Docherty on the bricky 8s 9s 3d 2c 3h board.

Sebastian Powell may be suffering from a mild stroke but he is struggling on manfully.

Here are some of the recent exits...

40   Jonathan Spinks
41   Paul Garnham
42   Benjamin Boulden
43   Hassan Abbas
44   Daniel Carter
45   Yucel Eminoglu
46   Adrian Swingler
47   Bryan Anglim
48   Mohammed Ashfaq
49   John Sadler
50   Paula Cowling

You'll notice M3boy in the list of names there. His fate was sealed when he lost a lot of chips blind on blind with Sam Trickett when both flopped top pair.

His exit saw him shove AQ over the top of a Trickett raise , only for the limper to make the call with pocket sevens and win the race...

Craig Owen has been knocked out by Ghassan Chehbi, I'm not sure when the money went in between Owen's Qh Qd and Chehbi's Jc Js but it probably could have been at any point given that the board was Jd Th 9s Ts Kh. Chehbi has regained most of his stack he had earlier lost.

Philip Toomer has just won a MONSTER pot and it was the little suited connectors 6c 7c that did the damage!

He saw a beautful flop of 4c 5h Jc for a drawtastic hand that was never going anywhere, but when Justin Devonport suffered a brain freeze and decided to ship his huge stack in with just ace-king, Toomer made the call with more outs than he might have expected!

A seven on the turn was good enough for him and as the river blanked, he was left with over 300k, making him the chip leader as we stand.

Amazing hand, Devonport will be kicking himself later over blowing a big stack there...

Here's an ecstatic Toomer, massively chipped up...

Jonathan Garrett moves all-in UTG for around 30k and Guy Rolfe cold-calls. Ghassan Chehbi also makes the call from the small blind and the big blind folds.

3h 6s 6c

Rolfe moves all-in for about 55k after Chehbi checks. Chehbi quickly folds to the push and Rolfe shows a dominating Kd Kc against Garrett's Td Th which holds on the bricky board.

We're on the bubble now as David Wall hit the err... rail. He reraised all-in for 35k total on top of chip leader Philip Toomer's 14k preflop raise, the latter making a reluctant call with Jd 8d only to find himself flipping against 4h 4s which was lacking fold equity. A 8h Qh Tc Ac Jh board later and 28 players are left.

Stop! Bubbletime!

;mc;

Oh and now we're on a 20 minute break. :D

The three men who look most in danger of bubbling at the moment are David Tighe, Jamie Purdon and David Oakton, all of whom have sub 10BB stacks.

With the end of that level the players are on a 15 minute break to plan their pre and post-bubble strategies over a cigarette, cup of tea, or for the more adventurous perhaps a cheeky alcoholic beverage or two.

We'll be back shortly!

Brown Trousers Moment.

Having called Te Ng Cao's raise preflop, Dan Brown raised his 20k flop bet to a total of 65k on the Ad 6c Qc board, Cao reraised all-in and Brown saw 1/3 of his chips just evaporated as he folded after thinking for two minutes. Cao showed Ac Qd.

Ghehbi raises preflop to 15k and Trickett calls.

9s 7s 5h.

Bet of 20k from Chehbi, Trickett makes the call.

Aspades

Chehbi bets 20k again.

Trickett gives it some serious dwellage before folding 8's. Chehbi shows Td 9h.

Yes folks the bubble has indeed burst!

George Brown was the man left with chewing gum splattered all over his face, his 99 racing unsuccessfully versus the J-Q of Eddie Lundon as a queen hit the flop and he didn't improve.

There is a huge sigh of relief amongst the remaining players, especially the shorter stacks. They all have one hand in the air and are shouting "we're getting paid!"

Well they would if they were flushy. As it is they are just getting on with it quietly.

Given the protracted period around teh bubble though, the average stack size has fallen to just 16 BBs or so, meaning we are likely to see some craziness over the next level or two as people stop nitting it up for the payday and start to gamble going FTW.

Bring it on!

Tighe Me Down

David Tighe is our first cashee, he pushed his short stack with Kc 9c but found an excitable Ghassan Chehbi behind him with Aces which flopped trips for added insult. With the average stack now just 19 big blinds, expect the field to be whittled down quickly.

Daryl is no Moore!

Daryl Moore just raised it up to 4.5k , only to see Guy Rolfe re-pop him to 13k.

He shipped the rest of his stack in with jacks and Rolfe resisted the temptation to ask "Can you tell what it is yet?" quickly flipping up a dominating pair of queens.

A drama-less flop of Kh 4d 7h 4s 3h did nothing to alter the balance of power and Moore was well and truly rogered.

GG.

Marcus Bebb-Jones is out.

Sam Trickett and Ghassan Chehbi continue to spar, albeit within the confines on the structure of the tournament.

Trickett makes it 15k preflop and Chehbi calls in the big blind.

6d 2d Jd

Check check.

3d

Check check

3c

Check, Sam looks at his cards and bets 17k. Chehbi snaps him off but quickly mucks when Trickett turns over Kd Qh.

Going well, but has the big stack of Phillip Toomer on his table now so he has been forced to tone down the aggression a few notches.

Still has plenty of chips though at the moment.

Interesting hand for a Toby Lewis double up.

Raise UTG to 15k from Tony Salmon with perhaps 60k behind. Toby Lewis flat-calls with about 46k behind, everyone else folds.

Kd 9h 2h

Salmon checks, Lewis moves all-in. After much thought, Salmon calls with Ahrt 7h virtually flipping against Lewis' Tens, although you wonder what would happen if Salmon had simply pushed with the nut flush draw on the flop...

Qd on the turn and 3s river change nothing and Salmon slips to the rail soon after as Lewis moves over the 100k mark.

Hiren Kanabar lives to fight again. He pushed for perhaps 30k and was snap called by Dan Carter Mk 2's Th Ts, but turned over the strong Aspades Qh which got there eventually by the river of the 2h 8d 7s 9h Qd board.

One more elimination means the players are being consolidated onto 2 tables now and are guaranteed £841.

Here's how it happened...

Richard Young and Ghassan Chehbi went heads up to a Jc Ad 8h board and Young moved his stack all-in.

Chehbi considered for a short while before making the call with Qd Td for a double gutter and being shown acey-deucey by Young for top pair.

The king on the turn brought a series of "oooooohs" from the crowd as Chehbi turned the nuts and left Young drawing dead.

Referring to Chehbi, tablemate Sam (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1429) Trickett (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1429) observed, "his name's on the trophy, he's hitting everything!"

Here he is following that latest coup that leaves his stack almost touching the ceiling at this point.

Double up for Paul Hailing after he pushed for a tiny 17k and yet Ghassan Chehbi still found time to make an incredibly reluctant call for this virtual minraise with 4-2off as Hailing showed Tc 9s.

A board of 8d 6d 7c Ac 2d was dealt out and Hailing was certainly doing that to the dealer, but for Chehbi, it's just a mere drop in the ocean...

Mahmood had pushed over the early position raise and flipped Kd Kh once he was called. Chehbi made a face like he was chewing a wasp and turned over Kc Qs

Aspades 3s Jc Qc left him some outs on the turn but the 9c river, put an actual dent in Chehbi's stack.

Players are now on a 20 minute break.

Arjanit Kondaj has just withdrawn a large sum of luck from his bank account. He moved in for about 60k with Ac 8s after Aaron Fisher raised preflop to 25k with Eddie (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2887) Lundon (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2887) flatting in the small blind. Fisher pushed behind for 115k total with Ad Td and Lundon folded 6's, a decision he was rueing on the Qs 8c 7c 4s 8d board as he would have taken a decent-sized side pot.

As it happens, Kondaj has about 150k, Fisher down to just 50k or so.

Good pot for Sam Trickett.

He bet all three streets of an Ad 8s 9h 2d Kh board, finally moving in on the river. Basharat Mahmood had been check/calling him the whole way down, but balked at this final bet and gave it up.

But ZOMGS', Rod has the biggest pot of the night and it's a real piece of work.

John Exley is out, it got folded to him in late position and he moved in. Mark Docherty pushed behind, but both were reasonably short that Phillip Toomer decided to give them a spin.

Exley: 8s 6c
Docherty: 9s 9d
Toomer: 7d 6d

Ks Qd Jd 4d 5d

Docherty trebles up - just. And Toomer wins a tiny side pot.

Eddie Lundon who was one of the big stacks at the last break, has dropped back down and was almost just eliminated with A-Q vs the A-K of Dan Brown, but a 5-3-x-4-2 board meant it was time to chop it up.

It's called the calm before the storm for a reason...

The period of frankly comatose poker that has characterised the last 45 minutes or so gave no indication as to the dramatic pot that was about to play out.

It began with the two big staccks Ghassan Chehbi and Philip Toomer being joined by Sam Trickett as they went three way to a board of A-T-T.

20k from Ghehbi, 45k from Toomer, fold from Trickett...

The turn was a blankety three and Ghehbi reached out and led for a big stack of 1k chips - 25k, only for Toomer to move all-in!

Two big hands here it looked like and when Chehbi called with T-6 that was one of them. Toomer showed down T-5 and it looked like a split was on the cards, although both had chances to win.

"Keep it low!" yelled Chehbi, hoping his kicker would remain in play on a low river...

Be careful what you wish for. His wish was granted, a low card peeled off...the 5s!

Misery has a face...it was Chehbi's.

Toomer took down the HUGE 700k pot to propel him even further to the top of the leaderboard and we lose one of the erstwhile chip leaders in dramatic circumstances.

With one last check to just make sure he had been well and truly shafted Chehbi left the playing arena...SICK!!!

Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 12, 2009, 09:50:56 PM
Despite there being the 16 players left and the average stack of only about 15 BB's, this becoming well and truly a nitfest. People just are letting themselves be blinded to nothing and with Toomer holding about 20% of the chips, there's a lot of players with less than average stacks. For people like Sam Trickett though, this is a great spot for him to go after just about everyone else's blind.

Title: Re: DTD Monthly £300 - Day 2
Post by: JungleCat03 on April 12, 2009, 10:00:04 PM
Gurdeu Millan must have looked down at pocket eights and thought they looked like the nuts with his 8 big blind stack.

One shove into queens later, a board devoid of eights and he was left on the rail contemplating how bad he runs.

14 left...

Also gone is Paul Hailing, the man named after the most painful form of weather suffered when he moved all-in with Aspades Qc over the top of Guy Rolfe's Ad 9d button raise.

Jh 5d Ts 2s.....9s

And suddenly we're down to just 13 players...

Dan Brown thinks for ages (maybe it's about how bad the Da Vinci Code is?) before moving all-in and everyone else folds with Hiren obviously calling.

Hiren: Ks Qc

Brown: 8s 8d

5s 3s 4c Js Qs

Screams and hi-fives from Hiren and his railbirds. He now has 12 big blinds.

Mark Docherty raises to 20k off a 120k stack, Philip Toomer re-raises enought to set him in...and he passes the Ac face up.

Er...

He then goes to war with Guy Rolfe holding A-Q.

Fair enough, though Rolfe's pocket queens are smashing his hand.

A flop of J-3-4-A-T changes all that though and he flukily doubles to a still below average 200k.

Poker...it's a skill game.

Ryan's Over The Moon

But crucially, it's not all over FOR Moon.

Toby Wilson just called his pre-flop shove wtih Kh Ts after some deliberation and it turned out he was in good shape versus Moon's sevens.

But it's been a good week for poker people with Moo in their name and a series of blanks followed by a decisive, if unnecessary, seven on the river left a dent in Toby's ever growing stack.

Trickett Takes a Hit

A nasty one for Sam.

I joined the flop of Tc 8c 7c with Sam contesting the pot with Mark Docherty.

Mark had shoved all-in and Sam said "I think we're flipping here...", perhaps expecting a flush draw and an overcard before calling with Td Jd.

He needn't have worried, he was in much better shape than a flip with his top pair against Docherty's 9d 4d straight draw.

With all eyes eagerly watching, the turn blanked out as the 7h, before a 6s spiked on the river to complete Docherty's straight.

Sam shook his head and made a sound like a cat trying to cough up a furball, as his stack took a possibly critical hit, Trickett reduced to just 90k or so now...

Docherty sheepishly offered an "unlucky mate" as he picked up his chips.

That hand led to a temporary cessation in play as the players take a 15 minute break before the race to the final table continues.

If any further testament was needed as to the passivity of the players out there, Simon Trumper just announced that this is the smallest field for a £300 DTD comp, factors like Easter and the simulataneous Irish Open affecting numbers.

Despite this, this is also the latest the final has ever started, with midnight rapidly approaching...

Title: Re: DTD Monthly £300 - Day 2
Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 12, 2009, 11:49:56 PM
I really can't overemphasise how slow this is. Simon Trumper just pointed out we have about 60 players less than last month and yet their final started by now. Too many of the players seem to be taking 3 or 4 minutes for very standard push/fold hands, it's just so utterly tedious.

Daniel Brown just double his microstack with Qd Qs against Toby Lewis' Aspades 7c on a 3h 9s 4h Tc 3c.

Other than it's dwell....pass....dwell...pass....dwell....pass...etc

A few moments ago Hiren Kanabar took an age to ship his circa 50k stack in preflop with Aspades Js over the top of the limping Arjanit Kondaj.

(The blinds are 10k 20k 2k btw!)

It seemed like a very standard move, but took all of 5 minutes to play out.

Kondaj called with J-Q. An Ace hit the flop, Kanabar celebrated like he'd just won the world series and was being showered with a rain of cash.

In fact he had doubled through to 7 big blinds.

We have a final!

And funnily enough, Rod and I did NOT pick one of the players at random and beat him to death with our laptops, simply because, as we came over to do so, we saw Ryan Moone raise and Dan Brown move all-in. After five minutes of now customary dwelleage, Moone called and Brown flipped Td Ts racing Moone's Ac Qh.

5s Qc 4d 2c 4c

We have a final table. Photos and chip counts to follow soon.

FINA TABLISTS!:

Seat One:
Mark Docherty - 375k

BIO: Mark was raised in the jungle. He likes to swing lazily off branches and lie about in his spare time. His poker MO is to min raise then fold off 12 BB stacks. Has a loyal group of supporters on the rail.

Seat Two: Philip Toomer 555k

Philip was abandoned as a child and raised by a pack of wild ducks. His upbringing has resulted in some unusual character quirks. He likes to cover himself with feathers occasionally and instead of announcing raise, he will often quack loudly.

He carries a lucky plastic duck with him at all times at the poker table.

Seat Three: Sam (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1429) Trickett (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1429) - 211k

Perhaps the best known of our finalists, Sam (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1429) Trickett (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1429) has a quality poker pedigree behind him, having won a GUKPT and very nearly picked up a WSOP bracelet in 2008.

He'll be a tough man to beat if he can get chips.

Seat Four: Toby Lewis - 357k

Most famous for the headgear he stole off Poochie the dog, Toby has shown himself to be an unusual character today by showing an ability to play poker well. I'm sure this bad character flaw will be ironed out of him before long and he will learn the key poker traits of nitrolling, folding to 4 BBs, min raise folding preflop and dwelling needlessly for hours.

Early Carnage before we finish off the bios.

Aaron Fisher jsut experienced the frostiest of frosty decks.

He must have been loving finding KK and picking up action off Basharat Mahmood. Little was he to know that Mahmood held pocket aces.

OUCH!

No king on the flop and Aaron was reduced to a bowl of rice, which was gobbled up shortly afterwards as he shipped 89 and it failed to connect.

Aaron Fisher becomes our first elimination, winning £1,683 after being knocked out in ninth spot!

Basharat Mahmood raises the button but folds to Ryan Moone's reraise all-in, the latter showing A-J.

Mark Docherty raises to 72k in the small blind but folds to Phillip Toomer's reraises to 250k.

Sam Trickett gets a walk in the big blind, he shows the Ac but I think he gets lots of walks because he's sponsored by this shampoo...

Seat Five: Arjanit Kondaj - 114k

Arjanit is short-stacked with less than six big blinds, but as most of the final tablists will attest to, he is under no pressure to move just yet, and can happily fold for a few rounds before waiting to find AA and doubling through to three big blinds.

Patience young padawan!

Seat Six: Aaron Fisher - 0k

Aaron may struggle to make an impact on this final given he is already out. Good game sir, but there's always hope! For the sake of completeness, here is his picture.

Seat Seven: Basharat Mahmood - 520k

Already doubled through, Basharat does not spend his time wallopping rodents as his name might suggest. Instead he has built up a large, vocal fan base here in Nottingham who cheered effusively as he virtually felted Fisher moments ago.

Seat Eight: Hiren Kanabar - 263k

Hiren was the man who went doolally after doubling through earlier to sub ten big blinds. Should he win, he will almost certainly need a change of underwear. Or if he is asked to pay by cash or cheque by a pretty supermarket attendant. Or if his alarm goes off. Or if he eats a grape. etc etc etc.

Seat Nine: Ryan Moon - 588k

Ryan comes into the final as the chip leader and will be a big threat for the title. Can anyone cause a lunar eclipse and blot out the moon. We wait with bated breath to find out...

With the blinds at 12k/24k Hiren Kanabar makes it the old fashioned 125k to play, thinning out anyone who might play back at him with junk. Sam Trickett moves all in for about 175k total and Kanabar looks unhappy but calls.

Trickett shows Ad Qs to Kanabar's Js Jh and says, "My sixth race, about time I won one..."

Sam Trickett is out in 8th place winning £2,103

The quickfire elimination of Aaron Fisher and Sam (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1429) Trickett (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1429) has not exactly acted as a catalyst for a wave of action, but Toby was recently seen re-raising Mark Docherty. He should have known better than to get in a pot with Mark as the phones in DT (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/)D (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/) started ringing themselves off the hook as the public clamoured to donate to the DWELL-A-THON that was now in effect.

Mark entered the tank and didn't re-surface for some time, contemplating his time in the jungle and playing through every event he had ever experienced in his life before until, after a short period of five or six hours, he eventually bravely committed himself to the fold.

More chips for Toby, who a now-railing Nick (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=306) Hicks (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=306) admitted had impressed him when they played together before.

Hiren Kanabar raises to 84k from midposition and takes the blinds. Most pots are being taken down uncontested now.

Duckman Can't Quack his Opponent's Hand

Arjanit Kondaj has just doubled through!

Shipping in his shortstack with A-Q, he got action from Philip Toomer aka Duckman, whose Ac 8c was behind and continued to be so as a flop with a queen on it rolled off.

Up to 250k or so now, his mini stack has turned into a whopping ten big blinds now!

The stacks are pretty small really and you would think it won't be too long before some sort of deal is proposed, given the volatile nature of shallow-stacked endgames...

Archinit...Sorry...Arjanit Kondaj is the real stuck in the mud in the deal.

He refused to deal and demanded £10k or no deal.

They then tried another deal:

15   2   Phillip Toomer -- £9,000
15   4   Toby Lewis -- £9,000
15   5   Arjanit Kondaj -- £8,000
15   7   Basharat Mahmood -- £10,000
15   8   Hiren Kanabar -- £10,000
15   9   Ryan Moone -- £11,000

Again, Kondaj said no and everyone else said yes, but after a couple of minutes thought, eventually he agreed. They're giving £1,400 to the dealers and playing for £6,000.

Toomer: Ad 6c

Again, Kondaj said no and everyone else said yes, but after a couple of minutes thought, eventually he agreed. They're giving £1,400 to the dealers and playing for £6,000.

3.15 finish then?

Sigh, maybe later if the 2009 Dwellathon continues with some of these guys. Rod and I are most likely not going to bed and just getting the earliest train back.

Archinit...Sorry...Arjanit Kondaj is the real stuck in the mud in the deal.

He refused to deal and demanded £10k or no deal.

They then tried another deal:

Mark Docherty doubles through Ryan Moone, the Aspades 7s holding against Kh Qc on a 5d Kc 3s Ahrt Ac board, all-in preflop of course.

The effect of the deal has been to transform what was a nitfest into a laggy slag-fest with players, esp Ryan Moon, shipping and re-shipping constantly.

A few moments ago Ryan Moon raised, Mark Docherty shipped and Ryan called.

JJ for Docherty. Standard.
93 for Moon. Lol-aments.

The flop fell 4-5-6 to cause Docherty's buttocks to clench momentarily, however the pressure wa released as the turn and river blanked in the form of eights...

Next hand...Ryan ships again!

This time Arjanit Kondaj looked him up with tens. Ryan had 5-7 this time and after an eventless board, with no sevens or fives on it, Ryan Moon is eliminated in 6th place, winning £11,000 as per the deal agreed.

Good game! We continue five handed...

Toby Lewis is out in 5th place winning £9,000

He had just won a few chips against Mark Docherty on a 4d 8c 7s Ahrt 6h board with 9-7 before moving in with Kc 9h from the small blind and getting snap-called by Arjanit Kondaj's 4h 4c who won after a clincal 4s 9d 3d 5d Kd board.

4 players left.

Players are now on a short break where instead of sitting around the table doing nothing, they'll stand away from the table. Doing nothing.

Basharat Mahmood has taken a big hit from Mark Docherty, the former raised preflop from the button and Docherty called in the big blind.

Ac Kd 8h

Check to the raiser, 200k and a call.

5h

Both players check.

2s

Docherty now leads out for 200k and Mahmood calls. Docherty shows Ks Jc. It's good.

Basharat just bashed a nit...Arjanit.

Taking the last hand in his stride, he got it in preflop with eights and when Arjanit called with A-2 looked good for a double up.

No ace and he did jsut that, back to 650k or so now...

Arjanit Kondaj limps for 40k, eyeing up Hiren Kanabar's miniscule stack. Basharat Mahmood spoils the party by moving in for about 800k from the button. The other two duck and cover and Kondaj the Albanian makes the call.

Kondaj: Aspades Ks
Mahmood: Ahrt 7s

Qh 9s 4c 6s Jc

Mahmood is down to the felt and with Kanabar also virtually felted, we'll be goin HU soonish...

Following that last hand, Bash was all-in for the ante and Mark and Arjanit both checked down a K-Q-J-8-8 board.

On the river Arjnit showed QQ for the house!

Too good for Basharat's K-3, Basharat Mahmood goes out in 4th place, winning £10k as per the deal agreed earlier.

We are three handed!

Treble up for Hiren Kanabar. All-in for 82k and called by the other two, his K-2 was good on an Ahrt 5s Kh 5d 2d board.

He now has 6 big blinds, or what's known as the Tikay Comfort Level.

Hiren Kanabar ships his tiny stack in with Jh 8h.

He is called by Arjnit's K-T, and with no one making a pair, King high is good for the pot, meaning...

Hiren Kanabar is out in 3rd, winning £10,000 for his performance, as per the deal agreed earlier!

We're heads up!

And heads-up lasted precisely NO hands!

As soon as Mark Docherty were HU, they agreed an even chop of the remaining £6k, with Arjanit officially taking the trophy!

That means Mark Docherty wins a combined total of £10,000 for his 2nd place finish,

whilst Arjanit Kondaj is the WINNER of the monthly DTD £300 freezeout, taking home a total scoop of £11,000! Wahey!

   ;letsparty; ;letsparty; ;letsparty; ;letsparty; ;letsparty;

Congratulations!

Here's a shot of Arjanit, shortly after his win, explaining how great he is.

And that as they say is that!

Thanks for following and for not being drawn away by the evil allure of the Irish Open. We've had fun covering the event, there've been some magical moments but it's time for us to go and make our way back to our homes.

Brighton for me; a padded room for Chris.

Thanks to DTD for making us feel super welcome as always and for sponsoring these updates. We appreciate all their efforts.

Seeyou soon for the next blonde update which is sure to be a cracker!

Goodbye and peace to one and all!

I'm exhausted...
