Hello and welcome to Luton for the it's 2009 GUKPT Main Event, Leg 6 of this year's series

Play for Day 1a begins at 2pm and all indications are that this should be a star studded affair, with a lot of blondes playing too

Before I head down the M1 to set up shop in the card-room I have a quick question for you, below....

and remember, anyone you would like me to follow/photograph, just post

See you in a while

That looks like the sort of country estate which would have a sunken fence around the outside to keep animals out.

Does Tightend happen to know what such a thing is called?

That mansion photo thingy is wholly inappropriate for Luton on the home page.

Please amend to a shot of a toilet in time for tomorrow.

Thanks in anticipation...

Last year this event had 376 runners and was won by Sam Trickett.

I reckon we'll beat 376 this year. What do you think?

Pelham Boy finalled last year, RookieITB the year before. I wonder which blonde will do the business this time?

Advance warning on the norkage. It's a bit frowned upon by the powers that be at Luton, after a few of the lady dealers took umbrage to a few of the comments this time last year. So I will do my best, but no promises.

Sadly Jonathan Raab tells me he does not have "God Save the Queen" (official or Sex Pistols version) handy to play on Sunday when a winner emerges. Jeffrey Pollack he is not, which is just as well!

In a major sigh, the camera's lens/focus appears to have gone kaput.

So will have to make up for that by getting lots of hands down.

Chris Moorman has just played out a major hand

Reaching the table I find a  5s 5h Qh Aspades board

Mario Trattou in the hi jack has bet 3,000 into a 7,500 pot

Chris looks genuinely pained. He has 6,000 left and Mario has left himself only 2,000 behind

He states "you raised pre flop, and I flat called. That was a major mistake"

Mario counters "Yes it was, a major one"

Chris sighs, raises his eyebrows, bites his nails and ponders some more

The clock is called. With four seconds remaining he pushes his stack over the line

Mario says "good call mate, I have got **** all" and flips  6h 6d

Chris turns over  7c 5c and doubles through, knocking Trattou out, on the  Ac river

Tracey Dell

"I hate my table. I have Graham (raise everything) Pound and Kimber on my right and Pete Charalambous and Rumit on my left. Really tough"

She has 7,300

In the pivotal hand to date Pound raised, Tracey called with KQ suited in the small blind, led at a Q-J-2 flop. Pound called. J turn. Check, bet by Pound, called. Ace river, shows checked by both. Pound tables A-2.

Chris Moorman is out QQ versus Danny Toffel's Ak. All in on A-3-4 all club flop. Chris had the Qc. Moorman check raised all in and was "snapped"

Paul Noonan doubles up. All in on a ten high flop with KK against a set of tens (Wayne Lee). Turn King

Mo Muses utg. Joe Grech re-raises in LP. Willie Tann passes AK in the blinds. Mo calls

Flop 3-3-5

Mo bets, Joe moves all in. Mo agonises, and Joe is soon talking him into calling. Mo eventually does call showing JJ

Joe, who should have been careful what he wished for, tables 99.

JJ holds, and Mo doubles through in a 35,000 pot leaving Grech short

Four limpers and Mo Muse raises on the button, at 200-400, to 2,500

Dave Clark ships it in in the big blind for 7,500 total with AK clubs

All pass round to Muse who raises his eyebrows, takes his hand out of the cookie jar and calls the all in with 10-7 off

Mo flops two pair, Dave turns a flush draw but bricks the river and exits at the hands of the hot one

Paul Noonan has made progress above the 30,000 mark

Post by: TightEnd on August 06, 2009, 10:53:15 PM
Karl Fenton was knocked out by Alex Burton AK v QQ which accounts for Burton's leap up the stack charts

David Barnes has doubled through just before the break A-7 on a 7-7-6 flop against Nick McLellan's 5-4. Turn 6 to seal the deal

Mo Muse remains in the thick of it, and is wielding his stack with impunity. He ends up all in against Nick Crisp, though covering him by some margin with 5-7 against 6-7 blind on blind on a 4-5-7 board. 8 on the river though gives Crisp the straight

Just watched Mo Muse's table for five minutes. Blimey he must be tricky to play with his stack. Constant aggression, three times in those five minutes he has moved over the top of post flop bets, all-in, and picked up yet more chips when met with inevitable folds. I suppose someone is bound to catch him when they flop the goods soon, but how big will Mo's stack be by then?

This year the gukpt organisers introduced a system whereby on the last level of each day's play, with about 15 mins left, they draw to determine how many hands each table will play through to close. The idea being that all tables play the same number of hands and no one particular table can stall and play very few hands to the close

This system has attracted some debate.
