Title: DTD 20/Twenty SATURDAY
Post by: Colchester Kev on October 24, 2009, 01:20:48 PM
Another success for the DTD gang ... SOLD OUT signs all over the place !!

288 runners and a reserve list as long as your arm !!

The original cap of 270 was breached by 2 tables due to online registration not closing when it should have.

So we are here and set up and waiting for the 2pm start.

Join us here and I will be running about like a blue arsed fly ambling about with my camera to bring you as much as I can in the way of action from the Saturday 20/Twenty event.

Here we go again. Half an hour to go and there is a sort of subdued excitement about the place, like the calm before a storm, or the hum of static electricity as it builds up before flashing to earth.

Smoke me a kipper...

5 mins to kick off and the place is absolutely buzzing !

Simon Trumper has just announced that there are 25 reserves and they will be allowed in for 1st 2 levels .... tf the clocks are going back an hour, or we wouldnt have a prayer of finishing tonight lol.

Could have easily sold another 100 seats with all the phone calls and players turned away !!

All about timing this game ...

Blinds 75/150

Stu Hopkin (20k) finds 99 in the small blind and makes it up ... BB raises to 850 and 2 callers, Stu getting value for set mining calls.

Flop  Qs 2s 7h

Stu Leads and gets 1 call, original raiser passes ...

Turn  Aspades

Perfect card for Stu to rep ... so he does  and bets 4k ... got called

Stu shoves a blank river ... only gets called by  Ks Js !!!

Way to do your stack into he stone cold nuts !!

Dingdell is here ... she says her hotel is like that village that only appears once a year ... cue puzzled looks from the table.

Then she has a eureka moment and says I remember no "ARMAGEDDON"  .... cue stifled laughter and looks of pity.... then when someone points out Armageddon is the end of the world, Trace says .. no not that, i mean Brigadoon.

3 limpers, I raise to 800 with  9s Td all except bb fold.

flop   Jh Qd  5s

bb bets 1200, I shove 3800 on top, he dwells then calls showing  Jd Qc

Turn is  8d

River is a brick, I am back in it.

Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

297 players, 1 camera, 1 pen, 1 notepad, 1 updater.

Please do not expect hand after hand in great detail when the blinds are small and even with my eyes, I can only watch one table at a time.

At this stage of the comp, all you are going to get are photo's and a hand if i stumble across one worth reporting.... xxx raises pre and takes the blinds would be a bit boring no ?

Its great that some of the guys update from the tables on their phones, appreciated chaps, ty.

If you get the chance please post more.

Woodsey has told me some tales of shocking play on his table ... people busting by calling all ins with A8 ... shoving 9 high flops with AQ etc ... Gotta love deepstack strategy ;)

Yeah guys, calm down a bit. I've given this a go myself and with a room full of people and small blinds there simply isn't really anything to report on. You can walk down the entire middle tier for example and not see a single flop out. At this stage of the comp photos/list of people who are out is all you should be expecting. Any interesting hands that Kev happens to catch is a bonus.

Ok guys  - sustained by a pot of DTD tea and a chicken and penne pasta and spinach dinner I am volunteering as Kevs helper for as long as I can last - I need chocolate so may have to resort to a pudding soon but in the meantime I'll get hunting for news.views, gossip and hands at the table.

Just looked outside and it's a wierd day - warmish but getting dusk like and inside it feels like a Sunday afternoon if you haven't been outside or opened the windows - all stuffy, murmers and chip riffles can be heard with the odd shout of 'seat open'. Half the field gone already - 155 left and it's not feeling frenetic - the room just feels like it had a grinding feeling at the moment - just going through the motions until the field pares down again.

1 application to the diplomatic corps refused as I upset a player after i laughed having heard she had been knocked out by Bookiebasher - not to her face but her bat hearing kicked in and I've had the first rant of the day with a pointy finger too....sigh ......  ::)  Kev must be rubbing off on me  - I've asked hm to stop but he can't help himself.

Can you start with a chip count of Mr Bartosz Przewiezlikowski please! Been asking since like 2.10pm!!

He is out

Ok im now following Mr Xiaoguang Zhou how many discs has he got in front of him?

Also cud tha please get a snap of sum valets? Cheers

Table Bookie Basher/Rokash - Bookie looks like he has lost a few but happliy chatting to his neighbour. Lucy having a massage and sitting with a stack of over 50k if my eyes are accurate. She's looking very relaxed and has this air of quiet confidence.

Table Tony Phillips - just had an all in -  Kc Kh vs Ad Ahrt   no help on the flop and the Aces knock another player out - another lady to the rails - sigh.

Karibiners tables - Ralph in the BB calles an all in from the button - Ralph  Qs Ad (very brave call imo) against buttons  5d 8s. Flop  Ac Qh 4s, the  4c and  9s making no difference and the man knocked out gets jeered by his railing mates as he gets up from the table.  Ralph quietly stacks his chips (he won 1500 plus the antes) and gets on with his game.

Some chip counts -

Alan Geddes from Luton - now Walsall   - 25k
Barry Neville 60k
Red 26k
Evil Pie - 13k - he shrufs - I'm not worried he says
Nick Hicks - 34k.

Lots of blondes still in - atmo getting a little more charged now. Blinds just up to 600/1200 with an ante of 100 and the short stacks are having to shove - players starting to drop.

When not eating Red manages to surf blonde and play a hand at the same time. UTG has raised all in - Red calls and shows  Ahrt Ad. UTG shows  Aspades Qc

Flop comes  2s 2d Qs, turn  Qd and river  9h.  Gulp. Red shrugs stoically and the chips are handed over. Red on about 12k at a glance.

Karibiner faces a raise and folds like a girl - but promises me that he wanted to re-raise just for the sake of the updates. Next hand he raises by 1500 and they all fold - he winks at me with a triumphant look on his face. Go on the Blondes!!  ;D

Ooops insta bok - Karibiner raises with  Kc Jc from the cut off making it 3500 to go. called by the button.
Flop  Jc 8d 3c. Ralph bets 6k on the flop - cut off goes all in - just covers ralph - so he calls - cut off has a set of eithts - no more clubs and ralph is a gonner.

Blinds now 800/1600 with 200 ante.

Sigh, great updates Kev, Girgy I can only presume it is that time of the month ;).

Won't bore you with a full report, but pretty standard live nit fest on my table, ranging from good nits to bad nits. Highlights were the bb to my btn called every button raise (I opened every unopened pot on the button) and check folding every flop, vwp sir. "I put you on AK" was said at least 7 times, oh and i get nitrolled by two people in my exit hand.

Shoved approx 10k utg+1 with  Kh Jd @ 600/1200/100, button tanks for like 2 minutes and folds(obv had kj beat), then bb tanks for like another minute. Then calls saying "I hope you have ak", fun times.

Table Chinese Frankie and Alan Stern - Frankie has 30k and Alan approx 25k. All quiet - mostly average stacks. When I say all quiet I am also referring to Frankie - he is so quiet the earmuffs handed out to surrounding tables have been returned - hardly a peep from him.

In 2 rounds on the table a raise to 4000 is taking down most pots - blinds currently 800/1600 with antes of 200.

THE Barry Neville raises to 4800 mid podition - he is loving his table since his table move - lots of big stacks for him to bother.

bazza gives it a bit of verbal - 'come on - lets get it in the middle if you want to' and the blinds fold - the BB grudgingly.

DTD always gets noisier at the breaks as the bad beats and hero calls get discussed and boasted about. As the weather gets cooler and it's darker less people go outside for a break - only the smokers make an effort to go out so it's getting noisier.

The £50 f/o is a sell out and due to start - table draws are up - DTD is running like a well oiled clock - no surprise there. Bizarely I had a dream about DTD last night - there was a raid and I dived under a table and rang the police. Today i re-enacted that slightly as i had to get under the table to plug in the laptop. Spooky..... ::)  Can you tell I'm filling the time until the comp gets underway?

Just before the break - on table barry Neville.  Early position goes all in for 17k, called by SB who is covered.

Early position has   9d 7d, SB has  Qc Qd. Raiser admits not looking before  he shoved....

Flop  Jc Jh Ks, turn  7h, river........ 7s. Ouch.

Another one bites the dust and it all goes to prove it's sometimes better to be lucky than good.

Fran (avec baby Phillips) is playing the £50 f/o. One guy on her table taking 10 mins per hand to make a decision, baby will be born by the time that games finished.

Fran is blooming - looking in the best of health but having trouble sitting at the table with the bump. Good news is she may stop playing soon so we can all come back and hopefully have a better chance of winning if she takes a break.

Update from APAT - Snatty still in after 5 hours but bored, guess no one is rising to the Snatty banter.

Big stack  Ahrt Kc. Caller with his tournament life on the line has  4h 4d

Flop comes  Kh Jc Ks then  5c 7d.

GG sir - big stack gets bigger. MBN.

calls of seat open are constant now with three tourneya on the go and all sold out, WD DTD again, we love you.

Tony Phillips having a mare - hopefully thats not a prediction of the latest addition to the Fran clan...

Ahrt   8h, one of the blinds pushes and Tony obliged to make up - blind has  Qd Jc and gets there.

Next - he raises with  Jd Ac, another push from a later seat -  Td 8h and gets there,.......

Next he raises with  Kc Ad, called by  2s 3d who gets there....sigh...

Has  30k left - pushes all in with  Qs 7s and is called  by  5d 5c. Tony catches a hand at last and stays in.

He has been getting busy and now up to 80k

Current chip leader on Table Hicks 130k - Dave Watton. Just lost a big pot and down to 30k but we missed the hand - sorry - we will investigate...

As the numbers reduce it's easier to reort - any requests shout out and we'll do our best.

Fran out of the £50 with jacks - again - "never playing them again" she vows. "Until the next time" we say under our breath.... ;D

Car crash poker coming up folks - hate to watch it but can't turn away.

Chip leader Waheed Ashraf (Wadey) - DTD regular - has over £130k.

Raises with  Ac Js, one caller.

Flop   Jc 3h 4h. After some shinanigans Wadey pushes all in for 130k.  Gets called with  Qd Jd so good news so far - turn a blank, river a  Qc obv.

Wadey has 50k left.. Raised ahead of him and he pushes with  Kd Kc, called by the  Ac 9s who then binks the ace obv.

He's now out.  GG Wadey  :(

So my friends think I have a rock and roll lifestyle, playing poker on a Saturday night mixing with the james bond look a likes in glitzy casinos.

Well it is glitzy as it's DTD but having been knocked out I thought I could hit the town with all the other poker losers tonight and get drunk...... sadly the Sicilian has disappeared the only proof of him being here a photo of him at the tables.

The tv is on at DTD, the valet has just delivered a slice of hanky panky pie with ice cream (the only hanky panky I'll be seeing tonight) and Kev has pushed off to take some pics of valets - I can hear him in the background telling them to undo some buttons....

So it's saturday night,I'm on my own, eating chocolate and ice cream and watching the telly - sigh - another glamourous saturday night then.....

Sigh.  I'd have looked after ya if I were there Chicka.  Don't give up, surely someone will rescue you.

Ok - all comps back from breaks - all getting a bit confusing as we suddenly thought the main comp had changed levels to 20 mins but fear not we are back on track.

Amazing how well DTD runs these comps - we've moved tables twice as they refill tables but we're back where we started now and  will be here until the bitter end - or in my case for as long as I can keep going before falling asleep - again another saturday night flashback....Kev off working looking for hands - I'm about to follow him - normal service is now resumed.

Any requests get them in and we'll get them done.

Table Frankie - Alan Armitage getting short - pushes all in in late position - all fold and he picks up blinds and antes of 13800 - very handy. Blinds 3000/6000 ante 600.

Action on Table Barry Neville

First barry small blind - stares down the button who looked as if he was going to raise and then folds after barrys stare. Barry raises using his 25k pink chip and the BB folds - barry shows  7d 7h.

Then next hand mid position raises all in for 18k and they all fold so he picks up the 13800 in the middle.  The very next hand he pushes again with nearly 32k and they all fold to the button who is chipped up and announces All In.

Rest of the table folds and it's the original raiser with  4h 4d and the button with  8h 8d.

No help on a board of  2s 3h Kc 9c Qh and another one to the rail.

Table Barry Neville is building some big stacks now - and Barry is licking his lips.

Big news from Frankie ...

Big argument developing as well !!

Marl noble ships in for about  18k

Frankie flats

Then Alan Stearn shoves for 60k .... Frankie goes into the tank and tries to work out what the side pot will be ... he talks to Stearn and says I think you have 44 ... do you want a call ?

Alan says nothing but after a couple of minutes dwell The clock is called on Frankie ... he goes bananas, and eventually passes 77 face up...

Alan indeed flips 44 ... Mark Noble has AK

Flop 7 4 5

Turn Q

River 7

Alan scoops, Frankie would have got the lot and is not happy ... he is raging at the player not involved in the hand calling the clock... he is absolutely steaming.

He gets a 1 round penalty for his explosion.... Mark the TD handled it superbly imo.

Tony Phillips on same table as barry neville -

Tony in BB - button raises all in and Tony calls with  Ahrt 8c. Button has  7c 8s

Board comes  3s Kd Ac 9s 2h  and Tony Phillips now up to 140K.

Fran railing pats her baby and calls out Come on - the baby needs lots of new things. Only 6 off the money and it's getting a bit tense down on the floor.

Frankie adjusting his clothing, tying his sholelaces and waiting to get back on the table - looks ready for action. We may have some fur flying on that table before long - the crowds are gathering in anticipation of a fight.

Ok - we have a slight break in transmission for an apat story from Snatty - he is out.

Ahrt Kc he raises - eventually called by  Qd Ac for the callers tournament life - he binks the queen. Then Phil gets  Ad Qc, pushes and gets called by  4d 4h and Phil doesn't improve. Sigh - another blonde down..

I don't suppose you fancy losing your virginity again... ?

I suppose I could fake it ....oh no yet again - another saturday night flashback....

Massive hand alert - one off the bubble - carnage

Bookiebasher just arrives at table Neville/Phillips, while still taking chips from his trays he raises to 29k

Two seats away Tony Phillips inst pushes all in for 180k.

Jim hasn't even sat down yet and he stays standing, doing the math and thinking, and thinking and thinking, recounting the chips in his trays and talking to himself, going through it out loud.

He leans back against the chair but still hasn't sat down - still thinking.

He recounts his chips and Tony just sits there playing with a few chips. Bookie recounts his chips again - and looks at the screen. Tony says something to him - not sure what he said but almost instantly Bookie calls.

Bookie  Th Td, Pillips  Kh 8s.

Board comes  3h Ac 5h 7s 7h and Bookie takes down a pot of over 380k. Yowzer.

Now they are in the money the small stacks are pushing - last hand before the break - new player at table Neville pushes all in for 35k, barry isolates by pushing all in.

Barry  Ac Kc, raiser  7d 8d

Board  Td 8s Qd 4s 3d and a 100k pot goes towards one of the only ladies still in.

Players on a break - Tony Phillips still has 100k and is very boyant and charged up about the game - he just loves Poker! Jumping about and reporting his hands to a railing Fran. They are such a nice poker couple - I reckon the baby will be called Deuce or similar!

Car crash poker again!!!

Guess who is the instigator?

Tony Phillips obv.....

First hand back from the break - blinds 5k/10k ante of 1k

Ave 118800, 25 left.

Tony pushes all in from two before the button.

Button pushes all in, Barry neville on button folds. SB pushes alll in! 3 all ins - place going mental.

Tony has  Qc 8c   Button  Kh 9h and Sb has  Ks Qh

Tony covers them both.

Board comes

Ahrt  Th 3c 4c 5d, SB scoops the main pot, button gets the rest  - Tony down to about 6 BB but still smiling!

I'm guessing mark and James have a deal where if either one cashed then the other man gets 20% of whatever he cashes for not a % of the actual
profit!! That's how it usually works as they both played the comp!

20% of 9.3k is £1.k and change!!

Barry Neville is out.

Just broken to 2 tables - Barry is on the button "I've got an orbit now" he says suggesting he will wait for a hand - ahem.

Folds round to him on the button "Go on then all in" he says.

SB folds - BB calls.

barry  Jd 3d  BB   Ac Ts

Board  8h Ad 7s 8c Td

and Barry is done for the night. He seems to have loved this game though - plenty of chip reversal for him - up and down and loving the rollercoaster. Hopefully there will be a firework celebration in the car park shortly...

2 tables left - play a bit cagey as we play hand for hand.

A couple of all is and folds as people look at the screen wanting to jump up another level.

A mid position all  in looks like it's going the same way until the BB goes into the tank, asks for a count - it's 86k. Blinds are 6k/12k with an ante of 1k.

BB calls.

BB has  7h 7d  riser has  Ahrt Jh

Board comes  9c 8d Td 8h 3h and we loose another.

Kev is getting excited that we may finish before 5am, I have news for him - I definitely will be!

Kev has gone off on the pretence of reporting on a hand - 5 mins later he comes back when he remembers he has forgotten his pen.....sigh......I may have exaggerated about the time delay for comedic purposes....

Just before the final table Bookie basher faced an all in. I love Jom when he starts thinking about whether to call - he gets a look of intense concentration on his face, counts his chips and  just quietly thinks. I have to say I wasn't in the hand I and I was scared - he's like a damocles sword and you are just waiting for it to fall.

That call he made with 10's against Tony was a real breath holder. Both kev and I have said we would love to watch a tourney all the way through and see his hole cards.

All a bit cagey to start - Jim raises twice and picks up blids and antes of 24k plus 12k.

Blinds 8k 16k ante 1k.

Third raise by Jim called in 2 places by warbwastard and Robert Cowburn in the SB.

Flop comes  Kc 8c 4h

Robert checks, Jim bets 53k and Warbwastered folds. Robert flat calls.

Turn  9h both check

River  9s both check.

Robert shows Qh Qs and Jim shows a  Jh.

All done very sedately, old stylee poker, no real young guns on the final table.

Sorry for lack of reports guys but there is nothing to report - the play has gone sooooper sloooooow like we are playing the final table on less than half speed - more dwellings than an estate agent and more folds than a pack of rizzlas.

Jim UTG raises to 39k, button calls.

Flop comes  4c 8h Jd. Jim stares at the flop for some time and then bets 53k. Button dwells and dwells and flat calls. The entire table is holding their breath apart from seat 1 who's mate hands him some crisps and he munches loudly and shouts to his mate until Simon does the 'finger on lips' gesture and like a naughty schoolboy seat 1 shuts up.

The turn is  2s. Jim quickly goes all in.

Buttin dwells, we hold our breath and eventually the button folds.

Table goes on a break and we breathe again.

We have a winner ....

Jim shoves Q8 off ... called by Robert with A9 ... but when you are running good it matters not getting them in behind, an 8 on the flop and Its all over for Robert Cowburn, he finishes in second place for £5,300

Nah.... I shove with  Qs 8h , he calls with Ac 9d ,

flop    5d 6c 7h , turn  3d , river Qd  ;karabiner;

Kev must have had his eye on something else ;)
