Right thats the end of the break after 4 levels

79 of 83 remain with levels and levels of late entry to go. 100 tonight would be good, a fighting chance for the guarantee tomorrow

The DTD site tables are down, so no news on the names of exits

After a minor accident that lost him a chunk of his stack Paul Jenkinson 3 bets a Jay White open from the small blind, and White 4 bet-sets him in

Jenkinson calls with alacrity with Aces, and is up against White's 2-2 for the double

The dealer places the cards either side of where the flop will be

Ever helpful Mitch Johnson says "Quack Quack"

and is rewarded by a 2 in the door for White to knock jenkinson out and send him to the re-entry desk....

Dan Ward opens to 1025 and Mark Alridge calls next to act

Nick "ubiquitous" Crisp shoves his last 5000 on the button

After some thought, Ward moves all in to isolate and Aldridge folds

Ward  4d 4h

Crisp  Qc Tc

8h 2c Ac flop for the sweat to be enhanced

 2s turn

 Qc

Its a Golden Wonder for Crisp who doubles up

A run down of the 8 tables

Who is with who?

1

Mitch is playing 80,000 and was moved to the table of early chip leader Ed McCarthy. The only other player I recognise on the table is Pokerversity, Will Mitchell of University Poker circles

2

Table Honeybadger. The man himself is in loquacious mood and he sits in 1 while typhoontrev and Sulphur Man are in seat 5. Round the back Mark Aldridge and Anthony Arlott wait

3

On the middle tier Tom Ambler and Callum Morgan have been battling most of the evening. Both have above average stacks

4

A good one as in seat 1 autobetkev raises into Nick Hicks and greekjack who are themselves out of position to Liam Batey and Paul Jenkinson. Of the five players I know, Hicks has unobtrusively garnered the bigest stack

5

Stato sits playing scrabble on his IPhone. Imagine the scene, you are at home on a Friday night and random select an opponent on your phone. Stato1 is his name. About 400 points behind and 13 Stato bingos later, you'd go to bed rather deflated. Anyway, I digress.

This is the table of Barry Neville, Mark SMith and Skalie. Mark Smith has well over 100,000

6

Alan Stearn is seat 5, Billy Ngo seat 6 and the ever patient Eso Kral waits in seat 6, no doubt a touch frustrated that Billy gets first dibs at Alan's button rasies

7

Ian Gascoigne is ins eat 3, ipod on, impervious to the very active style of Simon Deadman two to his left. It appears to me that Ian is in a Sibelius or Debussy mood. I hear no strains of Black Sabbath or Rainbow out of the earphones.

In seats 7 and 9 teo of the chip leaders Andrew Probyn and Jay White tangle.

8

On the last table Lee Williamson is also i-podded but is playing over 100,000 on a tabloe including the voluble bluff Northern chap Richard Pearson and Raj Dhiri, who always has it.

There are 63 of 88 left at the end of Level 8

Average is 47,000

blinds about to go 400-800

Mark Smith has 150,000 and is chipleader

We play 12 levels tonight

The total number of runners tonight was 100, 88 entries and 12 re-entries

63 played last night

336 required to hit the guarantee so 336-163=173 needed for the final Day One tomorrow starting at 5pm

A fighting chance, which would be some achievement on UKIPT/EPT London weekend and other events such as Gala Bristol taking so many away who would normally play the Deepstack

We'll see whathappens tomorrow

Tom Kugelstadt opened A-Jss and Barrie Price called with J-9hh

it came 8-10-5 two spades

Qs on the turn for the Price straight and the Tom flush. Both plaayers all in here

Ks on the river for the Tom K Royal flush

Jim Moult has over 100,000

He played a hand against dreenie

He tells me he thought dreenie was on tilt

"she had just been having a barney with seat 6 or 7 about how he had played a hand and the TD had had to ask her to stop a couple of times, so I had it in mind to play a hand against her"

dreenie raises UTG and Jim fiinds 3-3 in the big blind

He calls

3-4-9 flop, two diamonds

Jim check calls

K turn

Jim min-check raises and is called

4 river

Jim bets 10,000 with his full house and dreenie all in for 16,000

Call of course, and dreenie mucks when shown the house

Peter Wigglesworth raises to 1500 at 200-600

In the cut-off Nik Flanagan all in 15,000

In the small blind Greek Jack all in 17,000

Wigglesworth calls both

On their backs

Wigglesworth 7-7

Jack J-J

Flanagan A-K

The world momentarily stops turning on is axis as Flanagan breaks into his first recorded smile in public since 1998

the flop comes A-A and all is right with the world until the 7 completes the flop

8 turn

K on the river to win the pot for Flanagan

Smile!

Typo there, no?  Was it just one ace on the flop?

No, I just got it wrong

Flanagan of course won the hand. I realised as I went for my next parambulation and saw him there with a pile of chips

If you are going to get it wrong, get it properly wrong

James Atkin is out, on both bullets. Never got going with either bullet, he says

On the last one, he squeeze jammed KQ from the blinds into limpers and found that the original limper had flatted Aces. So 2004.

So 2004 held versus K-Q to send Atkin out though

Play has ended for the day with 58 left

Chip counts will be up when available

The total nnumber of runners across three days is 363 for a £108,900 prize pool

I make 114 stacks, some of which might be merged, through to day 2 tomorrow which starts at 1pm

363 entries makes 10.8m chips in play so average stack tomorrow is 95,000 and blinds resume at 1000-2000

Going to be a long long long day

Much better than I expected :)

Lol at Tomsom giving rubs, 80 big blinds without even one pair... Only got schooled by a move first seen in 2002.

Update from table 32:

Mitchell Johnson shoves 42k with Kh Tc at 1500/3000 in HJ. Folds to Andrew Hulme in the big
Blind.

He asks for a count and after a dwell makes a fantastic call with 8h 8s.

What a call.

No help for Johnson who is sent to the rail in 73rd place. Quite close to the money but certainly not in it.

Table breaks and Mitch is left to rue his decision to not hang on for another hand.

Great call.

Well done to all ITM, I was knocked out by Jack Allen who had JJ to my AKo. Hit flush draw on the turn (any A or K or club would have saved me) then drew a blank on the river.

The bubble has burst

Brett Angell makes it 12,000 from 60,000

In the big blind Ceri Rees sets him in

Call from Angell with K-K

Rees A-6

First card out, An Ace

A-4-9-9-5

Brett Angell out 46th

As he gathers his stuff, Brett hears the small blind say

"I passed an Ace"

UTG pipes up

"I passed an Ace too"

Made him feel miles better

Gives you a chance to watch three back to back NFL games out of the corner of your eye, Tighty. Shame there hasn't been any football on today.

Simon Kugelstadt calls

Jack Allen playing 500,000 shoves

back to Kugelstadt who makes the call

So Arkadiou A-Q

Allen J-J

Kugelstadt covering both....A-9. I look again, yes A-9

It comes A-Q-A

Arkadiou trebles up

Kugelstadt wins the side pot and knocks out Jack Allen 25th

Wadey Ashraf  raises and Jonathan Hickling calls in the blinds

Q-Q-5

Jonathan checks

Wadey 12,000

Jonathan 30,000 check raise

Wadey 65,000

Call

6 turn

Jonathan checks

Wadey a big 130,000

Wadey covers Jonathan comfortably

Jonathan folds showing K-Q!

Wadey can't resist, shows him A-7!
Oh dear, how could he fold trips on a board like that so lightly??? The chances that Wadey has a better hand than Jonathan is very minimal. AQ, 55 - this is a call all day long!

If we are folding here then we may as well go home.

Jimbo!

Very well done mate, delighted for you.

23 years of poker, but eventually you have won something.

Don't hide the cash behind the wardrobe again though, right?

Ooh, forgot to say, well done Adam, too.

No disgrace to lose to Jim. *

* Actually, it is, but I have to say these things, he's a bit of a special mate, & I taught him the game.

Just a quick recap, as at 4am I was running on fumes

Adam steamrollered much of the final, knocked out several players and the K9 5 bet shove was a hand to remember

Lee Williamson negotiated his way through the minefield of early final table play superbly, playing a short-stack well

When Skalie was second in a few key spots and his stack dwindled and then he was knocked out, and after Adam knocked Barnett out with the K9 v AQ, suddenly Lee found himself laddered to 5 left, directly oop to Adam and Moult and on the toughest spot on the table

At that point of the 10.8m in play Adam had 7, Jim 2 and the other three 2 between them

The two other short-stacks were laddering so fiercely that they have been nominated for Wickes employee of the month

I thought it was to Lee's credit that he went with his AQ when shoved on by Jim Moult with 5 left. Of course he had run into QQ but result aside it reflected well that he was at that point playing to get a bigger stack.

Anyway, Lee went out 5th, the two shorties followed soon after and Adam begin HU 8m to 2m up

Immediately there was a clash in styles

Adam would raise his button and Jim would shove. Regularly. Presumably looking for the double up or going home

Adam thus had to switch strategy and we had limped pots on Adam's button, and play down the streets

When they both found a hand pre, Jim doubled up JJ v 66 and then appeared to get the better of things, possibly running ok, possibly playing more aggressively

Over the course of the next 90 minutes he took the chip lead and eventually, after a huge battle the 99 v AQ hand that won it

It was a shame it wasn't streamed, as I got the sense it was a high quality Heads Up match. Adam in particular put Jim in some real spots, making very marginal decisions in many hands on turns and rivers

Anyway, well done both. Was interesting to watch

I wish.... ;)

Thanks for all the messages , much appreciated.

Ran good as you have to and heads up was quite tactical after I got my double up to get near even in chips.

Was surprised Adam kept limping his button but at least it meant we played a lot of "proper" poker down the
streets which I really enjoy rather than seeing who's got the biggest gonads pre-flop.

As usual with heads up , two big hands eventually clashed and I was lucky to win the flip.

Well played Adam and it was a really nice atmosphere on the final table , it couldent be any other with
the likes of Skalie , Shola , Greek Jack and Lee.

Thanks to DTD for their hospitality and Richard for the updates.

Tony , the money is in a far safer place this time where no one will touch it , you have met the wife
haven't you ;)

And can we get Mitch barred please , he's fast becoming Smashedagain's protege
