Waiting for Ludo’s blog for all the juice.

Allegedly a player was using this device https://vimeo.com/121971288 and was colluding with a dealer and there are allegations that other player were involved.

Casino confronted player last night let him go before cops arrived.

'there is strict security and normally this sort of thing would be detected without too much difficulty'

comedy

Looks to me that the Alea were pretty keen to get this story out before anyone else did.

how does the bent dealer mark every card to tell the machine which card is which?  Given the pit boss should change the cards every hour or so?  Doesn't really make sense.  What do the cards get marked with individually and where?

I would be very suprised if they supervise the custody of the cards to a high standard - this is a casino that doesn't provide dealers for poker tournaments.  The insider takes them out of the casino, marks them and reintroduces them.  He could have introduced dozens of packs.

The dealer has to introduce the "cold deck" via the old "switcheroo" as per The Sting railway carriage game

The new crooked deck has a bar code printed on the side of every card which is read by the villains "'phone" placed in front of him and transmitted to said villain's headphones.

The DTD live stream games use a similar deck to identify the cards as opposed to rail-cams etc. IIRC.

I find it surprising that a newspaper has named him. Any actual real proof or just gossip? A threat of libel/defamation here surely. He could sue!

Talking to people is a dangerous game when money is involved...

Wonder how thy know the theft amounts to £300,000?

Guess it sounds better than "might have been quite a lot".

Did anything ever come of this?

Similar case being "investigated" in the US at the moment.   It appears over there sometimes the cheater had access to hole card info and sometimes he knew the deck like this guy did.

Investigation is still ongoing.

Or something like that.

Player disappeared, never to be seen again is my understanding.

There was talk by players of pushing the casino for compo, but it was all very hush hush.

I’m not sure if anything was ever paid to any player, presumably there must have been something as there was a core of players who played there religiously.

All in all, for making the front page of the Daily Record and the alleged amount of money involved here this really didn’t get much traction by the poker community.

By comparison, current events surrounding the Postle case have electrified poker forums through out the world.

Thanks for the replies.  It appears this guy in Glasgow got away with more than Postle as well.  I think the reason the Postle case has exploded so much is all his sessions are on video online for everyone to watch.  If the same applied to the Alea cheat it would have got mega traction as well.
