Ah posted straight after your reply Royal Flush, still without knowing his hand I would fold.
1262  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: Insta call? on: September 29, 2006, 11:24:19 AM
For me is a fold.

You don't know much about the player and frankly it might cost you a tournament to find out if he has you beat.  Too many people go broke on two pairs/ one pair online esp. in MTT.  If you fold you are still in a good shape and can go on and win it.  I mean this guy might be sneaky little limper for what you know, limping in the hope for the raise and then pushing on the flop when hit.  ( very effective BTW)  and if it is a bluff let it be, you have still chips left to go on and with the tourney.

I love maniacs.... but with them you have to be patient and usually you will win.

I never used PT due to the fact that I am a mac user.  Reading this thread though, made me feel a bit paranoid.

Saying that though, the way to beat the PT is to change your game on the regular basis and to become highly unpredicable.

PT I assume, looks for betting patterns and so on, so changing gears, mixing your game will make it more difficult to read.

(I might wrong here, so you can correct me)

One of the methods used by some sites nowadays is to scan your own screen when their software is open (effectively they have the function to screenscrape you!)
How can i find out which site using this software?

Is there any software (for macs) that can prevent those computer terrorists getting to my computer?

Or perhaps I should just sitck to live cash games.

What about MTT and STT?

Surely one can spot PT/other software users if they play more then 5-6 tables at the same time.

1265  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: I'm always going broke here right ? on: September 28, 2006, 12:01:29 AM
Interesting,
let's assume that you have won the hand and your 62 went to showdown.

Are you going to get a respect for limping with 62?
don't think so.

You say somewhere that perhaps if you would flat call on flop and bet turn you could perhaps win the hand.

This guy limped with J2s, so i doubt it he would fold to your bet on the turn anyway, so yes you would go broke anyway.
1266  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: Another Tournament hand. on: September 26, 2006, 03:43:09 PM
The only problem with leaving yourself 1200 is that you will be crippled and your m will be around 4 so not so sure it is a good idea to fold on the flop.

You have decided to go coin flip you might as well call it for the remaining 1200.

I'm not risking my stack on coin flip situtations early in the tourney but maybe this is the reason why when i end up at the final tables very rarely I am the chip leader.

IMO flat call is not a strong strategy if you have 4 other players to act after you.  You have PP and only that by calling for half of your stack is an error and not +ev IMO.

And pushing into dry pot with pp if you miss the flop you going out of this tourney anyway
1268  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: do you call on: September 26, 2006, 10:54:16 AM
call
1269  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: thought i'd put this here for the experts. on: September 26, 2006, 10:50:32 AM
The question I would pose is whether you should call the first raise in the first place.  Yes you have a pp, but 4 callers acting behind you and big stack especially makes you vulnerable.  You don't have that many chips to flat call raises.

By calling you have committed yourself to the pot.  what would you do if big stack after you decided to flat call as well and the flop completely missed you, and big stack decided to raise small bet on the flop?
You fold or call?

Pauhj1 folded
Steve99 raised - $5000.00
Brasstal folded

Steve99 shows:
** Dealing the flop: , three diamonds,
** Dealing the turn:
** Dealing the river:
End of game 585141881

He raises 1/3 of his stack, i don't much about this player but by that I deduct if you push he will call anyway.  You are ahead so just got unlucky.

A lot of players overplay AJ/K/Q and are unable to fold.

1273  Poker Forums / The Rail / Visit to the Vic to watch some EPT on: September 24, 2006, 12:53:55 PM
The update of EPT thread pokerblonde team made go to the Vic and watch some action.

I wanted mainly to watch Swedish players so I could get some ideas how to be aggressive and brave.  I mean everybody talks how crazy and aggressive those players are.  I spoke to Peter Hedlund and baby face Jonas Molander. Peter comes across as a highly focused poker player who is advocating a deep study and analysis of the game and talking to him is like talking to poker machine, which does not want to reveal you any of the secrets.  The only info I have managed to extract from him about his game was: (and please pay attention, this is an amazing and top-secret idea that I have decided to share with fellow blonde forum readers.  For revealing this secret I might die or be haunted forever.  So if my body will be found on the banks of river Thames I hope some of you will bring some flowers to my funeral.)  ‘It all depends on players I play with’.

I could not believe my luck, such a great revelation and the advice all for free, Peter so kind and sharing.

Jonas was even more generous, he was telling me his secrets in Swedish, and me not able to talk his native language and without a recorder in my possession, lack of decent memory will be the best keeper of his poker secrets.

Ok so I went and actually watch them in action and see how aggressive they are. I wanted to see all the bluffs and tricks, but here again my wish remained unfulfilled.

The table I was watching was a televised one with Peter Hedlund, baby face, Vicky Coren, Barny Boatman, Andy Black and two other players I don’t know of who were with very small stacks.   Watching live poker game is like watching a slow motion movie, the stillness of players their discipline and ability to fold majority of their hands makes me very happy.  One can feel players’ brains ticking.  The very small stack was waiting for a good hand to go all in with and from time to time when his blinds were raised he was contemplating a push, but with 34 players left he decided to wait.  (Smart move as he did get into money)  Vicky Coren got lucky with her 88vs Jonas AA.  I think the reason might have been for her pushing Jonas’ initial raise he was raising from UTG from time to time so I don’t think she has put him on any big card, also on the previous hands when Jonas raised and was re-raised he was not shy of folding.

I was sorry to see Andy Black going out before the money, in a hand that for me still is a mystery why did he decided to play it the way he did but then prior to this hand Andy has complained that he did not see any decent cards for a while and perhaps he was counting that Peter will not have A that came on the flop.

(He limped with 6d7d from button, got called by peter in SB and Jonas in BB, the flop was Ah it was checked to him and he pushed all in, Peter had )

So what I said about disappointing advice from Peter at the begging of this piece, now started to make sense.  As I saw as the game progressed I realized that I would call Andy’s all in as well and being Andy I would not push my stack in this spot.
I will not report on other hands as i don't want to compete with official poker blonde thread.

I am going to watch the final today.  I am sure it will be exciting.

Thanks snoopy for a good advertisement of the event, without your thread I would not make an effort to go.
