def def def bet turn. If not u have to ch/call and likely keeps pot smaller. If he checks back turn or river then u lose a lot of value vs if you bet bet and he is in calldown mode.

Ch/raise turn too strong.

351  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: How corrupt is online poker? on: October 03, 2012, 12:48:24 PM
The things that I'm bothered about:
1) Has online poker been proved to be rigged?

There was the UB "Potripper" scandal (google it) where the Cereus/Absolute Network were operating a "Superuser" account that could see everyone elses cards.

Just think about how much money these sites make, pokerstars rakes millions and millions every week legitimatley, they could cheat and double that get caught and go to prison, makes no sense.

2) How safe is our cash nowadays?

If you're worried about this (which you should be) then check with the site you use that have secure player funds - as in they keep the player money seperate from the company money. Also stay clear of sites still accepting U.S players, because that could easily go tits up any moment, just IMO ofc.

3) I've just signed up to Titan. Am I safe or should I get out?

On the ipoker network, any of the sites backed up by major bookmaking operaters should, imo, be totally safe

4) Is it just an American problem or is it worldwide?

Not sure what problem, but the americans are not allowed to play online poker, it's illegal. If you're not living n the U.S there is no problem

What happened with FullTilt if you didn't know is that the day the FBI shut down Stars/Tilt/UB because of them offering online poker to american players it soon came out that full tilt had a big deficit in it's player funds. Basically they had spent a lot of player money and didn't have the liquidity to cover the balances in people accounts. They've been shut down for 16~ months now and a deal has only very recently been done in which pokerstars now owns full tilt and have gtd to repay everyones account balances. I'd have a lot of faith in the new FTP as it's backed by pokerstars and they have proven to be a fully legit (well almost!) company in the wake of the FBI investigations (black friday as it was known)

There is always a risk, it's not a bank its a company, 2 years ago anyone here would have told you that money on FTP and Stars was as gd as in the bank but obv this wasnt the case. Stick to stars/reputable ipoker skins and betfair and you'll be fine imo.

I *think* the act of playing online poker isn't actually illegal in USA (I think it is in one or two states). It is/was the supply of money to these companies as gambling entities that was against their laws

I've just come back to it and having fun again, (It's nice when your £20 deposit turns into three figures.....) but I'm beginning to see the odd thing about FullTilt and PokerStars being corrupt.

The things that I'm bothered about:
1) Has online poker been proved to be rigged?
2) How safe is our cash nowadays?
3) I've just signed up to Titan. Am I safe or should I get out?

Sorry to be so simplistic on what must be a mega complicated subject.

Cheers.

It's ok, don't be sorry.

I'd have to agree with you that Full Tilt seems to be pretty corrupt.

I'd probably stay away, at least until November/December when I hear they are brining in new management/rules which should curb the corruption...
353  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Making change in Tournament poker. on: September 28, 2012, 11:59:23 AM
The most tilting thing is so many squareheads calling raises with extra change to make life 'easier' for the dealer.

Someone raises to 525, they say nothing and slide a 1K and a 25 over the line. FFS, just chuck 1 chip in if yr calling or the exact amount.

When the dealer starts to make change offer up yr 25 spot then

This is pretty helpful as long as they make it clear it is a call

355  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: English Poker Open/GUKPT London on: September 22, 2012, 11:50:13 AM
Meanwhile at the GUKPT 1B only got 92 runners, after 123 on 1a

315 entries including re-entries over the two days

Neal Ruparella (Luton laggy chap?) had 7x average with two levels to go and didn't make day 2

1b chip counts

I regretted it as soon as I checked turn
357  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / 5 left on £200 final, overpair on double paired board on: September 20, 2012, 02:56:13 PM
Payouts: £22k, £16k, 9k, 6k, 4.2k

V1 is the only one who has been giving me a hard time and we have had some 3 and 4b pots. I know he has 3b btn vs my EP open earlier on (there is a live stream).

V2 runs a card room and has half a clue.

We believe we have a good edge over the field. 50 minute clock

Blinds 60k/120k/10k
Stacks

UTG hero ~ 4.5m
UTG+1 V1 ~5.5m
BTN ~4m
SB ~ 2m
BB ~2m

I open   UTG to 250k, V1 and V2 both flat, blinds fold

flop is

I lead 375k, V1 calls, V2 calls.

I believe V1 has a ton of floats in his range, overpairs (has flatted AA pre before) not so sure as v2's overcall range. Perhaps small overpairs and straight draws? Midpairs I think he doesn't squeeze pre. I guess either could be nutted occasionally. Pretty small amount of combos.

Turn comes

I was planning to c/r V1 on most turns, V2 has complicated matters somewhat. This isn't a great card.

I check, V1 checks and V2 leads 500k into a pot of around 2million

I call (weak but what can I do?) and V1 now jams.

V2 folds very quickly.

I think forever. Something is not adding up properly and I reeeeeeeeealy want to call

I'm not scared money in general as I am backed but this is very good money to me and happy to ladder a couple of spots.

Remember I have a good edge over table.

Thoughts on villains range? Thoughts on line so far and calling/folding?

359  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: tourney ruling what would you do? on: September 14, 2012, 11:47:33 AM
Hand continues with the deck reconstructed as best as possible, ie, if any cards were exposed on the deal or as people folded, they should be removed. The hand continues as normal.

This; if they both still have their hole cards what is the difference if folded cards are added back to the deck. I suppose there is a tiny card removal effect of folded cards in that they are in theory debatabley more weighted to lower cards than high cards, but this is negligible.
